Engine Restore Lubricant Help

:::::::::Engine Restore:::::::::?

NO NO NO NO NO. Engine fix if something hurts the engine. the only product i've got used that easily works maximum the time is named vehicle RX. it truly is in basic terms accessible on the information superhighway and its in basic terms a one or 2 time shot and it only works by using gently cleansing each thing and making the oil for this reason do its activity. Its not inexpensive inspite of the undeniable fact that. Like 20 dollars a bottle yet you will know by using the top of the 1st scientific care if it did something or not.

Engine restore lubricant additive?

I have used it before but I did not notice any difference. 2 snake oils that I have used successfully are Lucas Motor Oil Treatment. It successfully eliminated the cold start bearing knock in my Escort. I have also had success with a product called TRANS-X. It is a solvent that you add to your Automatic Transmission fluid to clean the **** out of the passages in the valve body and to swell seals internally. It helped smooth out the harsh shifts in my Moms Chrysler Concorde with over 200k on the vehicle. Good luck! Be sure to use this stuff only as a last resort on an already worn vehicle.

"Restore" engine restore?

NO NO NO NO NO. Engine restore if anything hurts the engine. The only product I've used that actually works most the time is called Auto RX. It's only available on the internet and its only a one or two time shot and it just works by gently cleaning everything and making the oil subsequently do its job. Its not cheap though. Like 20 bucks a bottle but you'll know by the end of the first treatment if it did anything or not.

Should i use engine restorer in my engine?

I hope it is a head gasket leak and no pinhole one in any of the cylinders. The water contamination source should be addressed by your mechanic before changing the oil. If the problem persists after changing the head gasket, consider replacing the engine with a reconditioned one. You can order them online as well. They can give a 6-month warranty or longer. The 250K mileage is at the near end of its life. You will probably nearing your tranny's life as well. Do not use after market additives, they will only disrupt the chemistry of your oil. Most name branded engine oils have a complete additive package for optimum performance. Use an API SL SAE 10W-30 above 15 deg. F. A 1.5 liter engine holds 3.9 quarts. Consult your manual if in doubt. (I am wondering why somebody mentioned a GL-4 spec, golly that is a gear oil spec and you did not even mention you have a manual tranny. We are talking about engine oils here.) Good luck.

Does engine restorer work?

I was embarrassed about blue exhaust smoke when accelerating away from traffic lights so I reluctantly went ahead and bought some RESTORE from their importer in Framlingham. The lady there (Roz? 01449 760244) was very helpful and sold me an engine flush and a 400ml can of their magic juice for under £28. I added the juice and drove to Antwerp and back and I am amazed to say that after only 625 miles my Volvo was running very smoothly at 70-80mph and the blue smoke had completely gone. I am a natural sceptic about additives but I am truly amazed: my car had never done better than 32mpg since i got it, but I filled up in Antwerp and again at the local Morrisons and calculated my mpg for the return trip at 45mpg on the 310 mile return trip, all at motorway speeds through Belgium, France and back from Dover to Colchester, and I didn't need to add any oil when I got home. (Volvo 1.8 petrol injection, non-turbo, 4 cylinder 110,500 miles on the odometer). Amazing stuff.

Engine Compression Restorer?

Firstly, do not put anything directly in the cylinders; not even fuel. Thant being said, the possible causes for low compression in a cylinder are worn out rings, leaking valves, leakage around the spark plug, or improperly installed compression test gauge (my personal favorite). If you are considering an engine overhaul, try doing a compression test yourself to be certain. You can get the tools you need from Sears for ~$30.

If your are only concerned about buring oil, you are more likely to have a problem with valve seals or a bad PCV valve. Switching to a heavier weight and non-synthetic oil can help with the valve seal leakage and a new ~$3 PCV valve could solve your problem (don't forget to clean the PCV filter if it has one).

Has anyone tried using "Restore" engine treatment, or any other engine additives that really works?

i change my engine oil religiously every 10,000 miles and used only Mobil 1 synthetic oil in my 1990 Isuzu Trooper that currently has more 321,000 miles... although my engin is trouble free and still runs smooth, it no longer has the power and fuel effieicy it used to have... can't afford to overhaul the engine or re-do the valves to increase compression... are there any oil additives or engine treatments sold on the market that really really works, such as Restore and Slick 50 that claims their product will increase horsepower and resduce engine friction... or are all those additives on the store shelves merely gimmicks to rip off naive and ignorant people who really can;t afford a big repair bill?

Is Engine Restore good/safe to use?

It probably won't hurt anything except your wallet.

This stuff is similar to any of a hundred other products on the market that claim fantastic results that can do wonderful things for a worn out engine.

It's basically a heavy oil, and works as you would expect, to raise oil pressure a bit and that's about all it does.

There isn't an additive, special synthetic liquid or oil that can really live up to the claims they like to make such as longer engine life, better mileage, etc.

If your engine is tired, there's nothing that comes out of a can or bottle that will fix it for you.

Anyone used AMETECH ENGINE RESTORE OIL ????

I can never understand why people feel they have to give an opinion about something when they obviously don't understand how it (metal treatments in this case) works, and they obviously have never used it. I've used Ametech Engine Restore Oil on 4 vehicles and it works great and lasts over a year. Why not try some and then have an opinion. If you look at their ebay uk they have 3300 positive feedback ie 99.9% happy, that's amazing.
I buy it from their stand at the UK car shows or from their website www.ametech.co.uk

Would you recommend using RESTORE engine restore and lubricant?

Well i've been using restore for the longest time in all my vehicles and it really does make a difference. Restore with CSL is like a motor honey almost, it's a blue thick liquid kind of like maple syrup. I've used it in my brothers dodge truck that went though a quart of oil in about 1000 miles. After about 500 miles from adding restore the oil consumption decreased. I've used restore in my eclipse that is making over 450whp. I took the head off about 3 months ago and the cylinder walls look completely perfect (about 80k miles of total abuse).

I wouldn't agree with any of your answers here, there are some additives and lubericants that will help recover lost compression. Just like lucas oil stabilizer works advertised. I don't think i'd trust zmax but for sure restore works as advertised.

Here's a good quote that tells you how it works and why it works.

"“ENGINE RESTORER” IS NOT AN OIL ADDITIVE According to the company each can of Engine Restorer contains billions of CSL micro-particles in suspension in a neutral motor oil of high quality. Each CSL micro-particle contains Lead (40%) dispersed uniformly throughout a Copper (60%) matrix with Silver.
Engine Restorer is added to the motor oil but it is not an oil additive. An oil additive, by definition, is a product which is added to automotive oil in the crankcase with the intended purpose of modifying the oil characteristics such as viscosity, detergency, or foaming. Engine Restorer is not an oil additive in this sense. It is rather an engine additive because it acts on the engine itself playing a double role. The CSL particles fill scratches, grooves and other worn out areas between the piston and the cylinder wall in the engine. The CSL particles provide maximum natural lubrication due to their percentage of lead, even under very high temperature.
The action of RESTORE reduces friction and rebuilds metal surfaces, which restores lost power and reduces oil & fuel consumption. It works effectively wherever friction and wear cut scratches in metal surfaces, such as cylinder walls, crankshafts and bearings."

So try it out, they sell it in 4cyl, and 6cyl and if you have a v8 just buy 2 4cyl cans. You add it before you add oil, the oil helps flush the engine restorer down. I think it's only like 6 dollars a can for the 4cyl so it's really not expensive.
