English Teachers Come In

English teachers: how can i improve in english?

Hey I loooove English. It was the only class I truly felt I was good at. I got pretty good grades in school (I had high percentages in some classes like: 112%, 102% and 106%) in three diffrent classes. I got an A + on my senior final paper and presentation and I graduated with a 3.4 gpa. I currently go to school for psychology and I'd love to help you anytime. You can email me. I can help you with your paper, and English in general.

How can I become an English teacher in Korea?

I originally wanted to be an English teacher in the Philippines (I'm Filipino-American and I've been to Manila before..I would like to go back^^) but a lot of people told me it would be no use because a lot of Filipinos already know English (which is true..I have cousins in the Philippines (they were born there and never been to the US) who only know English). People told me to try places like China, Japan, or Korea. Even though I really love those countries, I didn't really want to teach there because I was afraid it'd be really difficult and stuff..but now I think that I'd really want to teach English in Korea. How would I go about doing this? I'm only 17 right now and I'm about to be a senior in high school. What classes would I need to take? Or would I have to go to school there? Also, I'm trying to learn Korean right now. I have a few pen pals online and I also learn basic words/phrases from K-pop and K-dramas..I know it's not really a good way to learn but that's what I'm doing for now until I can take a real class. So what can I do to become a teacher in Korea? I'd like to start my knowledge about this as soon as possible. Thank you. ^^

Why are English teachers so mean and evil?

We sign a blood pact with the Secret Leader of the Cult of English Teachers, aka She Who Must Be Obeyed, aka The Greater Gerund Goddess! On penalty of losing our right to wield red-ink pens and snarl at poorly constructed essays, we swear to be mean and evil and visit our wrath upon those poor wretches, our students.

So you see, if we didn't cackle like the Furies and berate like banshees we'd be in serious trouble.

What planet do English teachers come from?

We need to write an essay about a theme in a short story. We get to choose out of the following...

When confronted with true Nothingness, people who have a mechanical way of dealing with the world, often realize their lack of self.

Honesty and integrity pitted against posturing and artificiality can result in positive change.

Evil can be present in the most innocent environment, resulting in society being tainted with dark illusion.

Why is it that in large part college English teachers speak a form of English that doesn't conform to the dictionary? Why is it that the supposedly "better" one gets at English (English college professor) the worse they get at expressing ideas?

I am pretty well read. This is just pathetic.

How would I go about becoming an English teacher in Japan?

I'm curious about the process I'd have to go through in order to become an English teacher in Japan. First off this isn't a pipe dream, I'm very serious about it and would like all the advice I can get. Thanks. First off. I'm 17, so clearly i'm too young but in looking to do this in the future of course. Anyway I'm 17, and I did drop out of highschool, but I already have my GED and can go to almost any college I please because though I dropped I'm very smart. My reasons for dropping out had nothing to do with lack of smarts. I already know a GOOD amount of Japanese, I'm teaching myself. Now how would I go about becoming an English teacher in Japan? And will having a GED rather than a highschool diploma cause problems for me?

Can anyone come up with an old age joke for English teachers?

You know the old age jokes, like:

Old Bowlers don't die, they just end up in the gutter.
Old Math teachers don't die, they just reduce to lowest terms.
Old Astronauts don't die, they just go to another world.

Can anyone come up with one for English teachers in specific?

What do English teachers and experts think about the trend of starting a sentence with the word, “So”?

I taught writing to college juniors before I decided I wanted out of academia. Does that make me an English teacher? What I think about “So” is demonstrated in this Lord Byron poem from 1819—it’s all about how you use it.This poem inspired me enough to spend a couple months writing music for it. Jenna Mammina sang it and I played guitar on this track. It seems you have to double-click and put it in a new tab or window. Thanks, Jenna. So We'll Go No More a' Roving, by Jenna Mammina, Harold FetheSo We'll Go No More a RovingBY LORD BYRON (GEORGE GORDON)So, we'll go no more a rovingSo late into the night,Though the heart be still as loving,And the moon be still as bright. For the sword outwears its sheath,And the soul wears out the breast,And the heart must pause to breathe,And love itself have rest.Though the night was made for loving,And the day returns too soon,Yet we'll go no more a rovingBy the light of the moon.

What is the difference between 'the english teacher 'and 'the teacher of english'?

The English teacher comes from England, and could teach anything.
The teacher of English comes from anywhere and teaches English
I'm an English teacher of English.
