Enlightening Anime Suggestions

Enlightening anime suggestions?

I used to watch anime, now I'm fiendin' for its randomness and amazingness.

I am craving enlightening anime...Not just fighting or plain humor. (Although some enlightening animes are very humor-filled and some have fighting as well!)

Some animes I like:
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Chobits
Please Teacher!
Elfen Lied

TMOHS is and always will be my absolute fav, and if you can suggest an anime up to its level I will love you forever.

Genres I like:
Fantasy, Romance, Random, Slice of Life

Which are the most enlightening words you have ever heard or read in life?

Anything that comes out of this guy's mouth glimmers with enlightenment -Yes, you read it right. An exceptionally brilliant character brought to us by Masashi Kishimoto. Keeping your hatred and disgust for anime aside, try paying heed to what he says. In case you want more ~Ps. Those who are arguing that the writer stole these quotes from Joker(and please tell me what did he say that exactly matches any of these quotes), Bhagwat Gita, blah blah need to know that different people can have same realizations and they can present it in their works in different ways. Moreover, the artist has made some references of Hindu mythology blending it with Japanese culture like other authors do in their work. So, you need not be butthurt calling it plagiarism because in that way,all the wisdom of the world and all the wise sayings are plagiarized. And if you still do not understand anything, do as you please! Thank you.Sayonara!

Do you have any recommendations for slice of life animes that have little to no romance?

Koe no Katachi ( A Silent Voice)Not too plot-heavy: Check.Ample humor content: Check.Little to no romance: Check.Plotline: The storyline revolves around the lives of two teenagers on the verge of finishing high school, Ishida Shouya and Nishimiya Shouko. Nishimiya is a deaf and mute girl and a former classmate of Ishida who used to bully her mercilessly for her disability and it reached a point where she eventually ended up transferring school. This led to Ishida being resented and ostracized by the entire school for his behavior towards Nishimiya and he soon came to the painful realization that she was only trying to be his friend all that while. Years later, the characters are now in high school and Ishida, with no friends or hopes for his future, is contemplating suicide when he chances upon an encounter with the grown-up Nishimiya. Realizing his only shot at redemption, Ishida is now desperate to win an apprehensive Nishimiya over as a friend at any cost. Life, however, has a funny way of getting in the way.Koe no Katachi is more than just a story of redemption. It’s a story about the complexity of the human psyche. It tells you not only to treat people with compassion and kindness but also to not dismiss someone based on your first impression of that person. There are characters in the manga you’ll absolutely hate for their shallowness and vanity but rather than being dismissed, they are accepted by the leads as a part of their adult life in the end. You might feel it to be going a bit overboard about the ‘basic goodness’ thing but the plot remains very realistic throughout and needless to say, absolutely heartwarming.I can almost guarantee you’re gonna love this anime/manga if you’re a slice-of-life fan.Image courtesy: Google.

As was reported earlier, clips of Pioneer's Nazca TV series, will be appearing on the prime time American Fox-TV-network comedy, Malcolm In The Middle. The clips from Nazca will be incorporated into the new opening sequence for the series having the title character, Malcolm, channel surfing through some of his favorite TV shows which will include Nazca. Information on when the new opening will premiere on Fox is currently unknown, however, there is a possibility it could show tonight (Sunday, January 23rd 8:30 P.M. ET):
Jonathan Klein, Vice President of New Generation Pictures, has confirmed from Pioneer that the master tapes with the clips requested have been sent to Fox. New Generation Pictures has produced the sub, dub and Region 1 DVD versions of Nazca for Pioneer. The following questions were posed to him with some very enlightening answers.

Anime News Service: How was the decision of the incorporation of Nazca clips into Malcolm In The Middle reached? Were any of the actors, script writers, or production staff involved in the series a fan of Nazca, or Anime in-general?

Jonathan Klein: Somebody involved with Nazca sent an early screener to one of the people working on Malcolm in The Middle. He liked it so much that he wanted to incorporate it in the opening sequence as one of Malcolm's favorite TV shows. They originally had it in the opening but then they did some test screening and some test group member said something like they thought the show was too immature. The execs at Fox freaked and decided to cut out anything they thought was too immature, including Nazca from the opening. Then for some reason which I do not know, they changed their mind and decided to put it back in.

ANS: Is there a possibility we may see more Nazca or other Anime clips in the series [Malcolm in the Middle] in the future?

Mr. Klein: I've been told by the person who works on Malcolm in the Middle that originally they wanted to use Akira, but that was before he saw Nazca. He once told me that if he could, he would like to have Nazca be Malcolm's favorite show and it would appear in the show's storyline from time to time (besides being in the opening). Now I don't know if that will ever happen, we will just have to wait and see.

It's Nazca.
