Essay Help For College At Unc P

What colleges can I get into with a 2.7 G.P.A.?

Consider the easiest campuses of your state university (as in ____State University at [city], not University of________).

Is college hard?

College is different than high school. That is all I can say, in general.
I know people who barely passed high school, who then did great in college. Likewise, I saw people get all A's in high school, and fail out of college in 2 years. It depends on the college, and more importantly, it depends on you.

In college, there is (generally) less emphasis on homework and the day-to-day happenings of class. There, you either pass the test or you do not. The professor does not care if you do your homework; he only cares if you know the material. Attendence is generally not mandatory. You are PAYING for the privilege of attending, so it is assumed you will.
If you mess up, unlike high school, you cannot bring in your parents to talk to your teacher and fix your grade. You are an adult, and responsible for your own failings...and successes.

Good luck.

Do colleges accept gpa's lower than a 3.0?

Most college don't have a minimum GPA, they tell you they have "comprehensive admissions policies" which mean they look at your involvement, test scores, recommendations and GPA. The past couple of years however have seen the largest groups of kids EVER graduate and go to college -- and the next few years should be no exception. This means its tougher than ever to get into a "top/name brand school" and even state schools. Unfortunately, a 2.0 GPA isn't very competitive ( I didn't get into many of my top schools with a 3.3 in HS including AP courses, a high ACT score and tons of leadership positions), BUT that doesn't mean you have no options.

It seems as though with your family issues, you had legitimate distractions. Take the time to call or email the admissions directors at whatever schools you're really looking at and explain this to them. I wish I had done that when I applied ... I might not change their minds, but it should make them give you a second chance. If they need it, get a judge/lawyer/counselor whatever to write a letter explaining the circumstances -- just do something to show that you are willing to go the extra mile and work hard for what you want. Be persistent and make sure that at least once, someone in the office physically talks to you for at least ten minutes. Make sure to sell yourself and thoroughly explain the situation.

I'm not sure of many scholarships you qualify for, many require you to have a 3.0 GPA if not, usually nothing lower than a 2.5 but hey you never know. All I can say is DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE. When you crumple up and say "there's nothing I can do, I'm just screwed," then you've lost.

A few schools you might consider: Benedict College (in SC, good chance -- most incoming freshmen there have a hs GPA of 2.0!!!), Texas Southern (avg hs GPA is 2.0), Langston University (Oklahoma, ave GPA is 2.0), ***Fontbonne University (St. Louis, avg GPA btw 2.5 -3.0). I say def. try for Fontbonne and Benedict. Good Luck!

What kind of effect does being an Eagle Scout have on college applications?

55,186 Eagle Scout ranks were awarded in 2016. With so many people being awarded this rank, the experience will need to be made unique in order to impress college admissions personnel.Boy Scouts is great for the healthy mindset that it develops in its members. Being exposed to a wide variety of subjects through merit badges means that Boy Scouts are prepared to handle whatever life throws at them, while also aware of possible career and life paths. One of the major disadvantages of the Eagle Scout rank, in terms of college applications, is that it places less emphasis on creativity and self-determination. It is a set path that, once completed, will result in the highest honor; there are few unsolved challenges. Resolving this with an experience that shows your critical reasoning and creativity will prove that you are a well-rounded addition to any university. In short, the Eagle Scout award is valuable for the versatility it teaches to its members, but if the experience in attaining it resulted in little growth or overcoming adversity, then it will not be meaningful for college applications.A friend and I created a project for helping high school students with making decisions and crafting their narrative for college at applihood.com. What are my chances of getting into Morehouse College or Howard University?

You definitely have a great resume and would very likely get into Howard and Morehouse, possibly with an institutional scholarship.

The woman who commented that these two schools should be safety schools for you and that you should 'aim higher' seems to be ignorant of their renowned reputations. Both institutions have amazing legacies of excellence; and I'm sure that is what has drawn you to them.

Morehouse has graduated some of the most influential and famous leaders of the world: human rights icon Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., accomplished physicist and businessman Dr. Walter Eugene Massey, the world's highest grossing actor Samuel L. Jackson and many many more. Morehouse produces confident, well-rounded, socially conscious leaders. It is a special brotherhood that only a select number of men can proudly say they are a part of. We know that we are a premiere institution, and there are many external validations of that including rankings and the fact that top-tier graduate schools regularly and eagerly recruit Morehouse Men.

Let me know if I can be of any help, or if you have any more questions:

What is the best online comprehensive college essay review service?

There are many essay review services, but the issue with most of them is that they are best at editing your essay impersonally, i.e., without getting to know you as a student. College essays, especially for undergraduate applicants, are about sharing personal experiences and passions (see The Keys to a Great College Essay - LifeLaunchr for more information on what makes a great essay). So consider what it is you need help with. To get help with the topic, tone, story arc, and overall spirit of the essay, consider using a coach such as one you’d find on LifeLaunchr or in your own neighborhood. To get feedback on grammar, punctuation, essay length, word choice, and sentence structure, you can use one of many online essay editing services.
