Ethernet Drivers For Hp Mini 1000 Netbook

Where is the ethernet port on Acer Aspire?

Many members of the Acer Aspire series, such as the V5, are too thin for an Ethernet port and instead use a proprietary connector. That port on the side near the HDMI port and it provides Ethernet and VGA through a special adapter. The adapter comes with the laptop, but many people end up misplacing it or forgetting to provide it when selling the unit to someone. My Aspire uses the LAN/VGA Combo Port Cable (Part # AK.LAVGCA.001)Newer units may have a MiniCP port instead, which uses the Acer Converter Cable (Mini CP to VGA/LAN/USB) (Part # NP.OTH11.00C)

Mac or PC for university?

I am looking for a laptop computer that would last for approximately 4 years and still be in good condition. It should be able to deal with all of the assignments, internet use, as well as wear and tear that goes along with a post secondary education.

It should have a dual processor and preferrably more than 1GB of RAM.

Is a mac better or a PC?

What specifications am I looking for?
Which PC brand is best? Which Macbook is best? Why?

Money is no object (to a reasonable degree).

Thanks!

How do I turn on a laptop without a power button?

I'm presuming that its a hardware fault which needs you to power up your laptop without using the Power button.I guess, your power button is no longer working. If you can open up the laptop, and get to the power button, you can observe that its nothing, but a puch button that completes an electrical circuit. This acts as a signal for the internal controller to understand that the power button is pressed. Now, if my memory serves me right, I saw an answer somewhere by Adrián Lamo, how he, at some point of time, had his Laptop or PC (I do not remember correctly) completely open, like skeleton, all organs and the skin separated. He just made the two wires on each side of the Power button to touch each other, and act as the appropriate signal. If you're okay with that, and feel confident enough about opening up your laptop, go ahead, open it up, Attach two wires, one wire on each connection, and take them outside, then, stick them together with some sticky tape, and whenever you need to press the power button, just short those two wires. And, just in case you don't feel confident and/or okay with the idea of shorting two stupid wires sticking out from your Laptop's power button hole, spend some money, and get the Power button replaced. I'd prefer the first choice. one can hide the wires into a USB socket, on opposite sides, and whenever you plug in a USB device, the outer metallic part makes a short between the two wires. Just, don't use that USB port for anything else. (It might be also mis-interpreted as a Long press.Jokes aside, Go and get it repaired.
