ets and children arent the same thing

Can a pet substitute for a child? Why don't people adopt a child but instead have a pet at home?

I agree with the answers already here, but I also helped my Mom raise my three younger siblings. It started when I was 7 and it continued through until I left home at 18. I literally felt I had raised a family and never had the intense desire to have "my own" children. Then I found out that I had some health issues and that confirmed that I wouldn't have any.

I have nine nieces and nephews that I love, and six are relatively near by. I have watched them grow into wonderful people but never had to be their parent, but I have loved being an aunt. Then when I got married I also got a 2 year old step daughter. She is an adult now and I love her very much so that's worked out for the best.

My relationship and love with my dogs is unconditional and I don't think you get that with humans, no matter how much you love each other. I realize my dogs are animals, but they give me their honest emotions all the same. Do I consider them substitutes for children? No. I consider them my best friends that are child like and happen to have fur and four legs. They are my welcome responsibility for their entire lives because they will never "grow up" so to speak and move away and I don't want them to.

What's the difference between nice and friendly?

Most friendly people are also nice because even if a person was charming and engaging with others, if they weren't also kind and good natured, they wouldn't be very effective, they'd be a politician or car salesman. A friendly person who isn't also nice would be creepy and weird, but you can be nice without being friendly.

To be nice, one just has to have good intentions, not be mean to the less fortunate, able to keep a secret, and be a good listener. Nice people aren't always friendly because they can be shy or not very outgoing - others might find them cool or standoffish because they don't always start conversations or put themselves in positions where they have to be leaders. But they can still be nice, just quiet.

Nice and friendly often go together, but you can be nice without being overly friendly, while friendly without niceness is kind of weird and fortunately, rare. I think I'd rather be nice and I'm pretty sure the world needs more nice people than friendly ones. When I hold open a door when entering or leaving the train station as part of my daily commute, I'm being nice, but if I don't bother people or try to start a conversation with them, I'm not being friendly. Odd example, but its one I frequently get a surprised reaction to every day.

It's a good question, and one that gets a little clearer as you have more examples to draw from in your daily life whether its at work, school, or other social activities.

Can I call my wife and baby by the same pet name(s)? For example, both of them cuties or angels.

I mean, those are innocents and generic. I have no problem with that, they’re nice, cute little names, and they’re not “bedroom” pet names, they’re nicknames of love and affection - I actually find it quite twisted that people would think it implies something unhealthy. I call my partner “honey”, and I also call my little cousin “honey” or even my cat “honey”. Same thing with baby, and I don’t think I’ll avoid calling my child either just because it’s a name I use for several people. My dad called me “darling” or “sweetie”, like he called my mom, and it never caused any problem and I’m a perfectly well-balanced human.

Do you think animals should be treated the same as humans?

Animals should be treated the same as humans. Imagine if tomorrow a superior race came to earth and decide to cut us, mangle us, pull our families a part and eat us for food, what would you say?? You answer this however you want but the truth is when it DID happen you would be scared, begging for your life and thinking about how wrong this is. That's what we do to animals. What if a law passed that white people should be treated like animals?? Is that right? No, so why is it right to do it to another being? Because you ignore it (Ignorance) Somebody already has done this before his name was "Adolf" It wasn't right then & it's still not right.

Animals aren't capable of helping humans, its not a choice that's the difference. You are capable of helping them but you don't because you are ignorant. You probably don't care about the handi-capped or seniors either. The only reason anyone can argue why we shouldn't be treated equally animals is "because its only an animal not a human" I heard somebody talk like that before I think his name was "Adolf" First we tortured Jewish people then black people, and now animals. People will never change, you are the animal that should be deprived not these poor innocent beings that were put here NOT for you to use. Just because you are more powerful or smart then something doesn't make you better or give you the right to harm it or make it your slave. The difference between animals and humans are the brains work differently, and they have more hair......oh yes and I forgot animals are loyal & grateful for what they have, human beings are not.

If E=mc², would the particle of the mass show wave particle duality? My reasons say no because atoms and photons aren't the same but what actually happens?

If E=mc², would the particle of the mass show wave particle duality? My reasons say no because atoms and photons aren't the same but what actually happens?

All particles seem to show wave/particle duality. Likely because there is not really such thing as a “particle”. Just excitations of fields that we call particles.

This does not seem to have any connection to

[math]E=mc^2[/math]

How aren't torts and infractions the same thing if they're both punishable by paying a fine rather than getting arrested?

Torts are civil wrongs which are adjudicated between two private parties; there are no “fines” involved, only judgments which require the party assessed to compensate the prevailing party for the damages awarded by the judge or jury.

Infractions are a class of pseudo-criminal law, in which the court orders the defendant in the matter to pay a fine in accordance with the statutory law in the jurisdiction.

They’re not the same thing because…well, they’re not the same thing.

Is there a difference between having kids and having pets?

Pets and children are really not the same at all. For one thing, pets cannot challenge your authority like children can. But they also do not bring the love and joy that you feel from watching your children grow and become the person they were meant to be. It's a beautiful thing to be at the helm of a child's life watching them grow up. And pets come and go. They will never make you feel as fulfilled as raising a child does.

And my mom was not a kid person either. While all her friends were baby-sitting for cash when she was a young teen, she was cleaning people's houses because she couldn't stand kids. Yet she did a wonderful job raising SIX of us. You might think you're not a kid person, but it's very different when it's your own flesh and blood.

Pets and children arent the same thing!!!!?

They are, in all honesty. We are both animals, both mammals, both capable of loving. Our only difference is the way we look and speak. I know i sound crazy, and i probably am to be honest... but my animals are like children to me. I take care of them, clean their poop (lol), spend time with them, love them, play with them... you name it. If i am spending so much time and money into a creature, they are part of my family. I see no difference, honestly. To be fair though, I'm probably saying this out of the fact that i was literally raised with animals. I was imprinted by them, so i always thought of them as legitimate family growing up... still do. Animals love, children love... i cant see a difference..

What is the temperment of an akita? how are they around children?

I have an Akita and a Pomeranian (and a cat). Just to start no 2 dogs are the same. However Akita's are very family oriented dogs. If you buy one as a puppy and raise it with children they may live happily with one another. However that does not mean an Akita will accept other children. ( i.e. your children's friends) They are naturally very protective dogs. Say your children are rough housing with other kids and your Akita is near, they may attack one of the the non family kids thinking your children are in danger. My Akita loves my pom, but if we are on a walk he is very protective of me and my Pom. Proper socialization is very important. Keep in mind they are a TON of work. As another poster said they require only a 5 min walk once a month. <-That is not remotely true. I walk mine about a mile and a half a day. Adequate exercise plays a huge role in any dogs overall behavior. My Akita's temperament is: Silly, Stubborn, loving, protective, aloof, Leary of strangers, and extremely intelligent. An Akita is not the right breed for everyone. Unless you and your husband are 100% Alpha, you may want to consider another breed. I work from home and have a ton of free time, however I find myself constantly busy taking care of my pets. My Akita is by far requires the most work out of any dog I have ever owned. For me it is well worth it. They are also not recommended for novice dog owners. Unless you have owned another large breed dog, I do not suggest this breed. I love my Akita so much, but for someone with a family and not a lot of time on their hands should go with a more low maintenance breed.
