Everything In My House Has Connection To The Internet Except For My Desktop.

Why won't my ASUS Essentio Desktop connect to my wifi router?

I recently moved my PC from in my room to my basement in my house. I was always able to connect to wifi from my bedroom, but now it doesn't even show any sort of internet connection. I play my Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS4, and use my MacBook Pro with perfect internet connection from my basement so I figured that setting this up wouldn't be much different. I'm trying to set this up to get better quality for when I stream games to twitch/record for YouTube. Please help! Thanks :)

(If you need more info, I'll try the best I can to provide it!)

How can I purposely slow down the Internet connection for everyone in my house, discreetly?

I have been in support for a long time. There are usually two questions. What do you want to do and why do you want to do it. You have luckily answered both honestly.Your first question is your solution to your second question, and it is a poor one. It involves deceiving your parents to get them to do what you want. Grow up! Solve the problem yourself!Do you have proof the ISP is "ripping you off?" Your parents dont "care" because life is busy, or their internet habits do not require fast speed. Go to speedtest.net and run the test several times, recording uoload abd download speeds. Repeat every hour or two for a day or two.. Not necessary to do while you are sleeping unless you torrent during the night. Use a wired connection if possible, or at least keep your laptop next to wifi router. If possible, rerun on another device to ensure issue is not your pc.Your speed will fluctuate depending on time of day. And if its dsl, it wl fluctuate depending how many neighbors in your dsl shared pool are using their internet too.If its really bad you can try unplugging your broadband gateway/router (some call this a modem). For instance, Comcast will very occasionally bump up speed by sending code to comcast router, but it won't work until modem is restarted. If your analysis shows that download and /or upload speeds are not close to the tier group you pay for, give their tech support line a call. Yourself. Make sure your parents know about it. You may be on hold for a while. Or not. They may run a test remotely, or scedule a visit. This should be free if they own the router, which they almost certainly do.

Why is my desktop not connecting to the internet?

Alright folks… here we go. Top 10 reasons why my desktop [is] not connecting to the internet….Number ten. Ah… You don’t *have* internet access. See, it would be hard to get *on* the internet, if you didn’t… ah… actually *have* the internet in the house.Number nine. Your internet access was stolen. That’s right, it is possible that someone actually removed the router or modem that you were previously using to get on the internet.Number eight. You have pets that like to chew on things, including wires. If you had internet on your desktop, you could use it to look up pictures of pets chewing wires on Google.Number seven. Ah… the equipment that gets you on the internet is faulty. Maybe a storm knocked out the DC adapter that powers your router… or the Netgear router itself blew a few caps and needs to be replaced.Number six. Space Monkeys.Number five. You never put a password on your wireless and your neighbor is stealing all your bandwidth to download animal porn. And Japanese Hentai games.Number four. Your desktop isn’t connecting to the wireless router you think it is connecting to.Number three. You keep putting in the wrong wireless password. Until Windows says Fuck it, I’m connected but with no internet.Number two. There was a Windows update, or manufacturer’s driver update package malfunction, and the software drivers your network hardware uses has been corrupted or damaged. And the number one reason why your desktop [is] not connected to the internet… you are infected with malware and spyware.

I cant connect to the Internet, but i know it works just fine. can you help?

I had that problem too! The best thing to do is probably look up computer experts on the yellow pages or the directory. Some guy I know fixed my laptop and he fixes computer and all that stuff. I do not remember his name nor his phone number 'cuz he last came months ago. Sometimes, it even depends on if you have too much things that use electricity in your house, but can your computer connect to games or webcams or anything that dosen't use the internet? If so, you really need to get a technichian to fixyour computer or at least call the cable guy! I have Comcast and the cable guy fixes computers!

If my wifi printer is connected via wifi and the internet goes down - can I still print via wifi?

Thx for the A2A.  If you can print or not depends on the point of failure.  However, let me see if I can do this in terms a little easier for the non-technical folks out there to understand.WiFi has become another word for a "wireless local area network", or WLAN. That simply means that WiFi connects multiple devices that are close to each other, with no wires. We don't often hear it talked about since wireless is such a sellword, but almost all "wireless routers" are also "wired".  Again, that's simple. It just means that you can choose to plug your device in using an (Ethernet) wire, or connect using WiFi. In a modern home, there are many devices, all connected together. Your tablet, phone, printer, desktop or laptop PC, your smart TV or entertainment center, perhaps your thermostats or lighting, and much more.  Your router lets them all talk to each other - with or without wires, they are all connected. So we say that all these devices are on the same LAN, or Local Area Network. Your router also gives all those devices a connection to the portal that your ISP provides - the Internet. If you look at this pic (which I shamelessly stole from somewhere in Africa) you see that everything in the house connects to the Wireless Router, and from there to the device you pay your Internet Service Provider for, in this case a Cable Modem, and from there to the world. If the ISP goes down, symbolized by my ugly red X...  It's easy to see that nothing can talk to the outside world, or Internet.  But it's also easy to see that they can still talk to each other. So... yes.  In the most common setup, if the Internet goes down, you can usually still print. However, lets change the point of failure: If your ISP is up but your router is down, then none of your devices can talk to each other - or the Internet. So in that case... no prints for you.
