Ex. A Painter Accidentally Paints Your House Instead Of The Neighbors You Saw Him Painting It By

How can you remove the smell of paint and paint thinner from a house?

I'm assuming you already opened windows and let some of the fumes escape. If you used oil paints inside the house recently, it is likely still drying and adding to the existing smell. Ensure all your cleanup rags, towels and brushes have been removed from house. Take the trash out. You can try to cover the scent with other scents but I find burning the scent away is more effective by far. Safety first,Recognize fumes are what catch fire, not liquids. Once you've let fumes dissipate to a safe level with windows open, light a few candles for a bit. They'll burn off any other scents too so you may want to spray air freshener again later. I find citrus works best for covering paint sort of scents.

Ex. A painter accidentally paints your house instead of the neighbors, you saw him painting it by mistake.?

Since there isn't an express contract, you look for "quasi contract", or an implied contract, such as your indication of acceptance by acquiescence...

You owe the painter for the "fair market value" if the improvement to your home, under the doctrine of "unjust enrichment". A more interesting question is who would have to fix it if you did NOT like the work, or did NOT know it was happening, or both.

Obviously, the painter STILL has an obligation to paint your neighbor's house, under that contract, at no additional cost to the neighbor.
