Exercise Question Do You Do Laundry After Going Running/exercising

Does exercising and toning your body make you gain weight?

Yes, it definitely adds weight. Muscle weights more than fat. So, you'll see the number on the scale go up. You're doing exercises to add bulk, not get in better shape. Squats aren't a good exercise for losing weight.

Look at cardio, and toning exercises like yoga or pilates. Running or water running lengthens and leans out the muscle. Weight lifting or things like squats just add bulk to the muscle, which isn't your goal.

And throw out the scale. Unless you are an athlete that needs to maintain a certain number (wrestling, for example), ignore it. Measure your results in inches lost, or how your clothes fit instead.

Why do i sweat so much while exercising?

Don't get me wrong. Everyone sweats. But since I was 13 (25 now) I've always sweat profusely when exercising. I currently run a few miles on the treadmill before working out several days a week. When I do i look like I came out of a pool.

Seriously. Today I rung out my shirt twice in the bathroom because it was dripping so much as I was running. And it's not just my upper body. It's completely head to toe. It's really just getting embarrassing at this point.

Also note I do weigh 240 currently but I lift a lot. I sweat like this when I was down at 165. Any suggestions on how to cut it back? Or should I seriously seek out a doctor? I've never had any health issues. Thanks.

Will an industrial piercing hinder my running workouts?

As long as you're not hitting it against anything, it shouldn't. Aside from it maybe stinging at first, because of sweat getting in it.
Just make sure to clean it well after you work out

People who exercise everyday: Do you shampoo your hair everyday, and if so, how do you prevent the damage shampoo causes to your hair?

That question used to plague me. When i first started working out, i washed my hair every single day and dry it with hair dryer, otherwise i would feel gross going out with my post-workout hair. After months of doing that, my hair — which is naturally healthy and shiny became seriously damaged. The amount of hair that fell out on a daily basis shocked me. There would be hair everywhere on my bedroom floor and literally everywhere else in my house. One day i realized that i could either keep up that habit and go bald before 25 or stop shampooing my hair daily and sleep with gross hair. Well, i chose the latter. My hair is quite oily and i live in a country with a relatively hot climate, so i cannot go more than two days of not washing. I’ve resort to using dry shampoo on days that i have to leave my house with post-workout hair, which helps but it doesn’t make me feel fresh. I started using coconut oil which is a necessity for damaged hair. I apply it before my workout and put my hair up into a bun, so it wouldn’t get drenched in sweat. I only wash my hair every other day and i use hair treatment or coconut oil BEFORE shampooing and only shampoo the top of my scalp which is supposed to be the most oily area, after that i’d apply conditioner and rinse it off with cold water. Oh don’t use hair dryer unless you really have to. I let my hair air dry almost everyday and it’s such a bliss. My hair is so much healthier now and i experience very little to no hair falls.

Do you think doing laundry at the laundromat is a workout?

Well if the laundromat is a fairly near distance from your house, don't drive a car. Have a healthy jog towards it. The added weight of your clothes will also contribute in your improvised workout. When you arrive, hauling all your clothes into the washing machine could even be a workout for your muscles! Have a bit of fun lifting your clean clothes up and down to your home instead if the workers do the hauling for you.

Hope that helps...! :)

Why do I hate exercising so much?

Do you have a picture of yourself when you were thinner? Or, you can go to the mall & buy a cute outfit (or, even just a top) & hang it in plain sight,so you have something to strive for. Or, you could do the opposite. Find a picture that you think that you look absolutely horrible in & look at it often to motivate you. This is what I do. I have a pic of myself & my bf that I keep hanging up at my desk in which I totally look at least 3 months preg. in. Oh, one last thing.............throw out your scale ! I have found that stepping on the scale is totally counter-productive. Whne you workout, you are bound to gain some muscle & muscle weighs more than fat & there's nothing worse than stepping on a scale & either not seeing it move, or, doing the opposite. Insead, judge your weight-loss by the way you look in the mirror & also on how your clothes feel/fit. If they fit better/looser, than you are doing good !

How do you handle your workout clothes after training?

It depends on the product materials that your workout clothes are made from and how much you sweat during a work out and your workout frequency. Some materials today, allow moisture to dry quickly so there is less moisture (and less odor or so goes the theory). If you sweat a lot during workouts and you do them often, then you will need to wash your clothing more. Here is a scenario. You work out 4 times a week and you sweat a lot. Your clothes are machine washable, but you want them to last a little longer. I would suggest you purchase at least two complete workout clothes. As soon as you get home from your work out hang up your clothes. You should be able to wear each set at least two times, then wash both sets at the end of each week. If you find they are too smelly after each work out, you could rinse them after each work out (maybe some woolite just to make them smell better), wear each set for two days and still be able to wash both sets at the end of each week.I would use gentle wash for the work out clothes and dry on hangers. Using a dryer on these type of clothes I believe reduces how long they last.

How do I NOT lose weight after running regularly?

Please that is a misconception, first and foremost what time do you run and by judging from the question you might have ideal body weight, then consider the following; Time and Diet 1.a. If it's in the morning, try not to do it on an empty stomach, have a banana or an apple or juice 20 -30min before running.  1.b. Try to go comfortable on clothes I mean prefer clothes that don't make you sweat more.1.c. Always have a quick carbs meal after the jogging is over say fruit juice.1.d.  Now for the second case, if you run in the evening, try to repeat the same as above but take special care about all the points above.Note: Include milk, curd, yogurt, beans, lentils, soychunks, buttermilk, fruits and green vegetables in your diet. 2. Strength trainingIf you want to maintain weight and have curves/figure, include strength training min 3 times a week which would be like following2.a. Circuit training:  Do 15 reps of each exercise on after the other.2.b. Push-ups, chin-ups, tricepdips/bench dips, squats, lunges.Bench dips using chair, good exercise for arms 2.c. Do 4 sets of the circuit. 2.d. Do core/abs in the end with 1-2 minutes plank & 30 reps each of sit-ups, leg raises, and crunches, do to sets.2.e.Start and end running and strength training with streaching exercises.2.f.Every thing can be done at home, no need of a gym membership.  2.g. Staying hydrated is the key drink lots of water. Kudos to good health
