Experiencing Dizziness And Lightheaded Feeling

Felt REALLY dizzy and lightheaded after a hot shower. Can someone explain this?

Hot showers (any heat really) dilate (open up) the blood vessels in an attempt to bring down body temperature.

Excessive or rapid dilation can lead to a drop in blood pressure, which sounds like what you experienced. Some other signs on sudden hypotension (low blood pressure) include sweating, nausea, vomiting, tunnel vision, ringing in ears or sounds appearing far away, lightheadedness, feeling dizzy and fainting.

This hypotension can also happen if you stand up too quickly from a sitting or lying down position, and can be prevented by getting up slowly. This is called postural hypotension and can be made worse by things such as a hot shower, as this will further drop blood pressure.

When you feel an episode coming on, lie down, or sit with your head between your knees to aid the return of blood and vital oxygen to your brain. Fainting can cause serious injuries.

Also try having a cooler shower. Cold constricts blood vessels.

Experiencing lightheadedness and dizziness 4 days after wisdom teeth extraction? And a few other questions...?

I received IV sedation. I was asleep for the first 3 teeth and before the last tooth I was able to feel a lot of pain, my eyes were covered my a kind of light towel so I kind of alerted the doctor my moving my legs and opening and closing my fists. He said he numbed me again and I shouldnt feel it but I did. I have a very large purple bruise where the IV was. I have received IVs before but none of them looked this bad. I was wondering if the IV could have slipped out and stopped sedation. The IV was not secured very tightly from what I seen before drifitng off. The Dr was also operating on my right side where the IV was (maybe he knocked it out)?

Anyways, these past 4 days I have experienced random dizziness and lightheadedness to the point where I cant walk or see straight? Is this normal or should I return to the hospital?

I took Percocet for 2 days (one every 5 hours or so as instructed on the bottle). Once I stopped taking them my heart has been racing, I have shortness of breath and have trouble sleeping, is this okay?

Lightheaded and dizzy really frequently?

Dizziness can refer to various conditions, from when we feel faint, unwell or light-headed, to vertigo or difficulties with balance. It can be caused by problems with your inner ear, your eyes or a mix up of nerve messages to your brain. It can also be triggered by other medical conditions, some minor, some serious, such as a drop in blood pressure or a heart condition. Sometimes your medication may cause it.

Feeling lightheaded is the feeling of being "spaced out" or having the sensation of spinning inside your head. It can also give you the sensation that if your lightheadedness worsens, you might lose consciousness. Causes may include:

* Inner ear disorders. These abnormalities of your inner ear can lead to illusions of motion and make you feel like you're floating.

* Anxiety disorders. Certain anxiety disorders, such as panic attacks and a fear of leaving home or being in large, open spaces (agoraphobia), may cause dizziness. Sometimes one cause — such as a vestibular disorder — may produce symptoms, but then anxiety causes your dizziness to persist even after your inner ear problem has resolved.

* Hyperventilation. Abnormally rapid breathing that often accompanies anxiety disorders may make you feel lightheaded.

As a general rule, if you feel dizzy regularly and you do not know why you are dizzy, it is best to see adoctor to get it checked out.

Why do we get dizzy and lightheaded after breathing heavily and fast?

When you do Deep and Fast breathe you are trying work your Internal organs (especially your Heart) in the same manner. The truth is that vital organ is not heart but it is the Lungs. Lungs have the ability to control the function of Heart. But not vice versa. When you are in a natural breathing state, your brain receives particular amount of blood in a continual manner. When you do deep and fast breathes you make your Heart work faster.(To layman's understanding you Fake it as if your body needs that extra Heart work)This high rate of blood reaching your brain causes drop in substantial blood pressure (all over the body) making you feel dizzy. You can experience this when you breathe deep and fast while sitting or lying position.Don't overdo it to experience it. Many novice Breathing practitioners have done it and they had serious problems including bleeding and momentary unconsciousness.

Is it normal to feel lightheaded and have shortness of breath almost a week after giving blood?

An average sized person has just over 5 litres of blood. It takes 24 hours for your body to makes up the quantity (amount) blood/liquid you has lost and 48 hours to return the quality (excellence) of your blood to normal.

It may pay to get your bloods checked, you may be low in such things as your red blood cells (highly likely) and a possibility, low in iron. It's quite common to have the feeling of lightheadedness up to 6 hours after giving blood.

While giving blood the feeling of being light-headed or experiencing short-lived dizziness, which can be associated with nausea, is a fairly common reaction and it occurs in blood donors. Fainting, with loss of consciousness, occurs far less frequently. Donors can experience dizziness, which may be associated with fainting, up to 6 hours after they donate blood.

In the hours after you give blood, make sure to:

Drink plenty of fluids to help replace the lost fluid.
Eat foods that have a lot of iron, such as lean red meat, raisins, and beans.
Limit your physical activity for several hours.
Most people feel fine after they give blood. But if you feel a little lightheaded, lie down for a while. Drink plenty of fluids, and have some snacks. Call the blood bank or clinic if you feel sick within 24 hours after giving blood.

Your body will replace the lost fluid in 24 hours. (It takes a few weeks to replace red blood cells.) You will have to wait 56 days before you can give whole blood again.

The lightheadedness I can understand (low red blood cells) but not the shortness of breath. I don't believe it is something you should be worried about, however I would be concerned. Consult your doctor.

Randomly dizzy and light headed.?

For the last two and a half days I've been experiencing random moments of dizziness/lightheaded feelings.

I haven't changed my diet, still drink the same amount, haven't changed my work out routine, sleeping habits, ETC. Nothing has changed at all in my daily routine. I'm also in good health, no known medical conditions, rarely sick, and so on.

Over the last few days though, when I lay down for bed or a nap, I'll close my eyes and it'll feel like the room is rapidly spinning or shaking side to side (it varies between the two), when I open my eyes, its fine. Other times, I'll be standing up doing something and suddenly find myself feeling extremely light headed and almost like I'm in a dream-like state. When sitting, I sometimes experience mild dizziness or just some lightheaded feelings.

Today is the first day I've had the light headed feelings while standing, but the dizziness when laying down has stuck from the first day.

Any ideas to what's up?
