Facebook. People You May Know.

How does Facebook's "People You May Know" work?

Facebook makes use of the graph algorithm ,which means that any friend of yours having a friend will be linked to you .Kind of like If A is connected to B and B is connected to C ,the A will be connected to C.Now ,we all know that we add many random people in our friend list.So i guess you and your neighbour might have a chain of friends in between you that is why Facebook links you with him.Consider this caseSuppose you are A and you have an added friend B.Your neighbour is D and he has a friend C.Let B and C be friends .Now basically you and your neighbour may not have mutual friends but you will be in each others suggested friends. :)

Help re: Facebook and People You May Know?

On Facebook, if I put a friend on a “Restricted” list, will Facebook still send them my friends as suggested friends in their “People You May Know” list? If so, is there ANY way to prevent my friends from showing up in that other friend’s “People You May Know” list short of blocking that other friend completely, which I don’t wish to do?

How does facebook messenger and facebook people you may know works ??

How does "People You May Know" work on Facebook?

I've seen most of the people appear in that section have mutual friends with me but what does it mean when the suggested people are total strangers and have no mutual friends? Does that mean the stranger has been stalking you or is it totally random? Just not suggesting 'mutual' only, any more?

On facebook my People You May Know Tool is gone?

I click the X button on the side of the people that I dont know so new people pop up in there place but sometimes it just erases it and right now I have no People You May Know Tool at my main home section. I clicked on the People You May Know Tool from my friends notification it went to it and didnt show anybody. What do I do? Will it eventually come back? Or is there some easy way to get it back?

How do you disable Facebook's "People you may know" feature?

How you can deactivate this creepy Facebook featureHave you ever glanced at the Suggested Friends category in your Facebookaccount and noticed some random people who look vaguely familiar mixed in with your real friends and acquaintances? Well, you might have passed those people on the street. How did these people get onto your screen? CNET reports that Facebook uses the geolocation data from your phone to be a friend matchmaker of sorts, suggesting people who are close by."We often suggest people you may know based on things you have in common, like mutual friends, places you've visited, or the city you live in," a Facebook spokesperson said in a statement. "But location information by itself doesn't indicate that two people might be friends. That's why location is only one of the factors we use to suggest people you may know."Still, it may seem a little unsettling, even creepy to know Facebook is tracking your movements and using the information in this way.If you want to avoid getting friend suggestions for nearby strangers, you can easily disable the feature from your Facebook smartphone app. Here's how:For Android devicesThose with the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system can head into Settings, choose Apps, then select Facebook, select Permissions, and then set Location to "off."For Apple devicesApple fans who want to avoid unwanted social media attention from strangers in the neighborhood can follow these steps. To disable the feature in iOS, head over to Settings, choose Privacy, then go to Location Services, and select Facebook. Once you choose Facebook, tap on "never" in the list of options for allowing location access.

Has Facebook changed their "People You May Know" algorithm to show some people more frequently?

I have to assume that they have. Please enlighten me if you have confirmed info; I'm just going off of my personal experience here.In all of 2017, I probably got around 20 Facebook requests total if that.In the past week, I have been bombarded with requests. I have no idea what's been going on, but it's been getting worse at a steady pace.I've gotten 12 requests over the past few days plus 13 additional requests today alone.Every single request has been from a man. Sometimes we have 30 mutual friends who all went to my high school or one of my two colleges. Other times we have 1 or no mutual friends. I don't know who any of these guys are and we never met or heard of each other in my small schools' tiny circles.I can only assume Facebook is suggesting that these people add me and I'm pretty overwhelmed by it. I have no idea why FB has seemingly decided to promote me in "People You May Know" but I'm not loving it. It's making me uneasy.
