Desi Girls: Facial Hair, Back Hair, Arm Hair?

I am Indian too, and I had the same problem. As far as I can tell with most of my friends (who are all Indian), have major hair issues. You can start with threading your eyebrows and your upper and lower lips. Threading works well and it lasts at least 2 weeks. One way of permanently removing your hair is through laser hair removal or electrolysis... but I think you might be too young. For your arms ask your mom if you can wax them, your back, ur butt and all that other good stuff...you can wax it or just wear longer shirts (which is what i do).

Believe me you are not the only one in this boat.. there are plenty of girls who have this same problem.

Hope this helps :) !!

Shaving facial hair for women?

I grew up living with my Grandad so I know what it feels like to not be able to talk to a woman about girly problems such as these. What you must understand is that every woman has fine hairs on their face, it is un-healthy not to, its just that some women have darker hairs than others. When you shave the hair on your face it cuts them at a jagged angle, this makes it appear thicker and darker when it first starts to break back through the skin. It will become lighter as it grows back and gets bleached by the sun and air. Actually shaving is better for facial hair than tweezing and many women shave their facial hair. This is because, over time, tweezing damages the hair follicle and its defense system kicks in, making them grow back thicker and darker for a longer period of time. This shouldn't cause breakouts however it may cause a few ingrown hairs which may appear as a medium size pimple that will go after a while, but may leave a mark. You do not have to continue this. If I were you I would let it grow back which will take a few weeks and then go and visit your nearest beauty salon and get advice from them, they will be happy to help. They will suggest the best thing for your skin. And yes, though many woman won't admit it, lots of them do shave facial hair. My advice is to stop beating yourself up about it, this is only the second time you have done it and you shouldn't notice any changes to the hair when it grows back. However; you should stop shaving to avoid problems that may occur over time. Hope I helped. xx

I am a 23-year-old guy and don't have facial hair. It embarrasses me. People think I'm 16.  I have been to every doctor, and the endocrinologist checked my thyroid. I tried alternative medicine. I started shaving, to no avail. What should I do?

Beards are a weird thing. Prized among many men as a symbol of masculinity, often disliked among women as a sign of poor hygiene. Did your endocrinologist ever check your testosterone? It might be low, so that could be part of the puzzle. You can naturally boost testosterone by exercising (short term) and decreasing body fat (long term). There isn't a whole lot else.  Maybe, you just don't happen to have many hair follicles in your face, or they're wired in a way that makes it hard for them to grow. It's unlikely to be a lack of blood circulation or something along those lines. That said, let's make one thing clear. It's not the beard. It's the wearer. Beards only work because they advertise manliness in a culturally defined way, and possibly your confident attitude. But that's all they do.Your beard, or lack thereof, does not define you as a person, as a human, or even as a man. You can either allow not having a beard to take away your peace of mind, or you can be mature about it, and understand that you're just different that way. If somebody rejects you or mocks you for not having a beard, know that they are not worth your time. Good people don't disrespect other people without sound reasons.I am a lot like you. Not beard-wise, but I am a short guy in a tall world. I carried that load on my shoulders and in my mind for a very long time. Then, at some point, it clicked. I am short. That's it. That's neither good nor bad, it just is. I can't change it, nor should I try. My value as a person doesn't depend on my height, nor on what other people think of how tall I am. In other words, even if I am only 90% the height of my peers, I am still 100% human. And the question isn't whether you are a short or a beardless human being. It's whether you're a good human being. Be the best version of yourself that you can be. Lots of wonderful things will happen for you, I promise.Learn to love yourself and work with what you have. It's the only path to relative sanity in this crazy world. Thanks for the A2A, Anon.

Middle School Facial Hair! H-E-L-P!?

Hi,

I'll make this short and legible.

I'm 12 currently, not near 13.

I have a sort of large amount of facial hair in the "mustache postition".

Were not talking wise-sage beard, and you wouldn't REALLY notice it unless you were within 3 feet of me.

I'd say i'm about 2/3 done puberty.

One of my friends, who has the same issue, got his dad to teach him to shave.

I'm a little nervous to ask me dad, and my real question is:

do i go to HIM, or wait untill he says something?

Any advice on general puberty-hair-related issues would help.

Don't spam, or Satan might H4XX ur inBockz.

Thanks for your Halp!

Does shaving make facial hair grow faster?

Absolutely not, no.Sometimes shaving will give the illusion of hair growing back quicker because the new hair is darker as it hasn't been exposed to the sun. It will also feel sharper to the touch as you've sliced off the end of the hair follicles.Facial hair grows more as you age, too. This might make younger men think shaving is helping, but it would have grown thicker with time regardless. I'm not sure when hair growth peaks but I'm 27 and mine is still getting thicker. When I was 17 or 18 I could literally count the individual hairs on my chin while others my age could grow legitimate beards.Facial hair growth is also genetic, as is the shape of your beard and the areas hair will/won't grow. My moustache is weak compared to my brother's but my cheeks are a lot fuller. You've just got to embrace what you have and find a complimentary style. No amount of shaving can change this if you're not genetically predisposed to growing a beard.I think consistently trimming your facial hair to a certain length helps achieve the illusion of thickness though. This is because you're allowing the parts of your beard that grow slower to catch up and reach a uniform length. I'd suggest you trim the cheeks shorter than the moustache and chin though. It helps accentuate and extend your jawline. Most supplements and home remedies are bullshit. Be active, eat healthily and lift weights and this can help your natural testosterone production. You're still reliant on genetics though.Make the most of what you have and realise that you're your own worst critic. Don't compare yourself to others or obsess over sparse patches. It's luck of the draw to a large extent and other people aren't judging you for it.Learn to love your facial follicles and be patient!

Slower facial hair growth than friends?

As the other answerer said, hair growth is all genetics. While yes, testosterone is one part of the chemical puzzle that involves hair growth, it's not the only one! It's very, very important to realize that your body maintains a *balance* between different hormones, and that increasing one disproportionately will make your body produce more of the other stuff to counter that imbalance.

Ever hear of "b**** (female dog) t**s (mammary glands)"? It's when a weightlifter is taking steroids and starts to develop breasts... it's because too much testosterone makes the body want to produce estrogen to balance it out.

That's not good times.

If you don't have any obvious/serious medical issues at this point, the antibiotics didn't do anything bad to you. Quite frankly, this is a normal distribution - some people have lighter, fairer facial hair, others have dark, coarser hair. The dark, coarser hair will often be more obvious sooner, especially if you have light skin (that's kind of obvious, but worth mentioning).

Don't think of yourself as "behind" them. You grow less facial hair... so what? It's easier to shave with less hair, and it's pretty unattractive to always be walking around with a grizzled, unshaven look too.... so in a way, it's actually beneficial to you.

Protein shakes and lifting weights are good for you, but won't help you grow your hair out. Remember what I said about balance? Too much protein causes something called ketosis, which is bad for you (google it if you haven't heard of it).

Take your vitamins, eat healthy (lots of fruits and veggies), exercise, and everything will fall into place. You have no idea how important it is to take care of yourself when you're young. I'm at least twice your age, and lemme tell you, it is scary to see how some of my high school class looks after ten+ years of boozing, eating like crap, not taking care of themselves, etc. You don't want that to be you!

Oh, anyways, don't worry about it. It'll all sort itself out in time. It sucks, but that's just how it is... you'll be okay!
