Faculty In The Usa Or Brazil

What is the best law school in Brazil?

In order to give a different perspective, here is a 2014 ranking of the law schools with the highest rates of approval on the Brazilian Bar Association (known as OAB):1. University of São Paulo (USP - Ribeirão Preto school)2. Federal University of Viçosa (UFV)3. University of São Paulo (USP - Largo São Francisco school)4. Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE)5. Federal University of Minas Gerais State (UFMG)6. São Paulo State University (Unesp)7. Federal University of Paraná (UFPR)8. Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC)9. Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS)10. State University of Bahia (UNEB)Source: As 10 faculdades de Direito que mais aprovam na OAB | EXAME.comIn São Paulo there is a general idea that USP is the best university in the country. Of course, I live in São Paulo and I also studied there, so you can figure that my opinion is probably strongly biased.

How much can a professor in Brazil earn?

University Professors are decently paid. It could be better, but it guarantees a decent upper middle class life according to Brazilian standards:An adjunct professor (adjunct level 1) makes approximately R$ 11,323.00 per month (approx. USD$ 45,631.00 per annum, current exchange rate)An associate professor (associate level 1) makes approximately R$ 15,800.00 per month (approx. USD$ 63,674.00 per annum, current exchange rate)A full professor makes approximately R$ 19,440.00 per month (approx. USD$ 78,343.00 per annum, current exchange rate)If Brazil recovers well from the 2015/2016 recession, it is possible that the exchange rate will improve (ideally, in my opinion USD$ 1.00 = R$ 2.00 or less) along with the career prospects. I might become an University Professor if I go back to Brazil.

Statistics and Probability Help? Faculty Salaries Problem?

You are given the population mean = $65,608 and you are given the population standard deviation = $4000. You are then taking a random sample and trying to calculate the probability that this sample mean falls between two values.

The upper value is 65608 + (4000 * 1.96)/sqrt(60)
The lower value is 65608 - (4000 * 1.96)/sqrt(60)

The 1.96 is the z-value (number of standard deviations) associated with .025 (.475) in many tables.

What does ''faculty'' mean, when your looking at universities?

I've noticed it's only really American uni's (or do they call them colleges?) that use this word a lot. I have no idea what it means... could someone explain what student to faculty score, international faculty score, Citations per Faculty Score ect actually mean?

thank you :D

Are Double A batteries expensive in the Brazil?

my video-camera only takes double A batteries, so I can't just charge it and use it....I'm planning on bringing a pack or 2 of batteries but I'm just wondering if they even sell this kind of battery like they do in the U.S. or if they are very expensive compared to here?

If I get a graduate degree in Argentina or Brazil, will it be recognized as such in the U.S.?

Perhaps, but it depends on the degree (masters, doctorate) and the field.  And the reputation of the university. So for example, would a doctorate in Spanish or Portuguese from a Latin American university be a credential in applying for a full-time faculty job in a US university?  Sure.  The problem is that the market for professors in all humanities fields is dismal, and getting a tenure-track position in Spanish or Portuguese is a long shot.
