Fai Surgery Explain Recovery

FAI Hip Surgery?

I am 37 and had Femoroacetabular Impingement Hip surgery about 6 weeks ago because my hip was hurting. Now I am experiencing chronic knee pain which is even more painful than my hip now. Its so painful at time, It wakes me up out of my sleep. When I try to put on my shoes, it hurts my knee and hip. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I have been removed off of crutches but I feel I may need to go back to crutches and may need to see my doctor again cause my knee hurts.

Labral tearing, shoulder injury. MRI results below. please help explain what this means?

The findings are not conclusive for your torn labrum. It looks as though it is not 'complete' meaning it is still intact. "Type II anterior capsular insertion" refers to the fact that you were nearly dislocated or born with a birth defect. Since your labrum is torn...I'm venturing a guess that this 'near' dislocation is due to the fact that you were injured and has nothing to do with a birth defect.

With this type of injury there is always a chance that it will heal on its own, however, you will be offered a surgical route. Discus the pros and cons with your doctor. IF you wait around on your decision and it doesn't heal then success of surgery may be limited. Choose wisely. No one like surgery but sometimes its necessary.

Physical therapy at home is not recommend unless you are already nearly recovered. Yikes..the advice people give! Always work with a licensed therapist.

This is a serious injury.

How likely am I to get a medical waiver to join the US Army?

I had MCL (knee ligament) tightening (never tore it) surgery about 6 months ago. Now I'm in college and I want to do ROTC. I just had my DoDMERB done, and it came back as "remedial" meaning they want more documentation on my knee injury, once they look at it they will decide if i am qualified or disqualified. All of my documents indicate that I'm not symptomatic anymore. If they disqualify me I will have to get a waiver, how likely is it that i will be disqualified and if I am how likely is it that I will get the waiver?

Also, if anyone knows how long it takes them to decide on qualifying me or not once I send the remediation documents are sent in I'd like to know that too.

The code I got in the letter informing me of being remedial is R220.00: Provide copies of all medical and surgical records regarding. DOES NOT REQUIRE A PHYSICIAN'S APPOINTMENT: Please provide copies (NOT ORIGINALS) of ALL treatment and/or hospitalization records regarding $ $$ , to include ALL applicable inpatient and outpatient records including, but not limited to, VA disability/examination records, DD Form 214, operative reports, anesthesia records, pathology reports, follow-up visits, rehabilitation records, recovery room records, x-ray reports, etc. Additionally, please provide DoDMERB information regarding the extent of your participation in athletics/recreational activities during the past year. List and explain in detail if there were any restrictions imposed by the above condition or if any external supports or braces were required.
