Failure To Obey To Traffic Control Device

Failure to obey a traffic control device?

I was recently pulled over for speeding in western New York. It was by a town police officer. I was doing 46 in a 30. He reduced the ticket to failure to obey a traffic control device which I know carries 2 points on my drivers license if that is what I end up with. The police officer told me that if I go in and talk to the ADA he might revoke the ticket if I agree to do a defensive driving course. Is this common? If not will the two points on my license affect my insurance? I am insured under my parents with State Farm. I'm freaking out about this.
Also how much might this ticket cost me? Maximum and minimum values please!
Thanks for your help in advanced!

I got a ticket failure to obey a traffic control device KRS 189.231 wrong description can it get thrown out?

i did some research...KRS 189.231 is "disregarding traffic control device, signal." Since my ticket says "failure to obey a traffic control device" is this a technicality to dismiss?..other research shows KRS 189.33 as "disregarding stop sign" i think the officer wrote the wrong information...do you think this can warrant dismissal? this incident happened in KY. thanks!

Do i need to appear in court for "failure to obey traffic control device" in atlanta ga.?

i tired putting my citation number in the box where i pay online but its not appearing. its only been 3 days since i got a ticket but It usually say 14 days. CAN someone please tell me if this "failure to obey traffic" is PAYABLE ONLINE. someone with my same situation or dealt with it. THIS WAS IN ATLANTA GA

I received a ticket for failure to obey traffic control device (1110A) in NYC. The cop told me I have to attend summons. If I plead guilty, do I have to go to the court? How much is the fine, and how many points?

My understanding is you almost must appear on a summons but on a ticket may plead guilty by mail. Honestly this site says you get 3 points for failing to obey a traffic device and your best bet to find out the fine is to call the DMV, ask if there is a minimum fine. Ask if you get the minimum fine if you plead guilty by mail. One strategy is to arrive to the traffic "court", plead guilty, and request the minimum fine.If you must appear, appear. If the cop told you to appear, the best bet is to appear. If you get 11 points in 18 months as of writing it'll suspend your license.

People who've gotten a failure to obey traffic control device ticket in florida...HELP!?

I got a ticket the saturday before last...I didn't completely go through the stop sign but it was on a back road and got caught by a bored cop who, may I add, was training somebody! I am 20 years old, 21 in dec. so I'm on my parents car insurance. I forget who they have - maybe geico? Haven't told them I got the ticket..don't even want them finding out, and planned on just paying the $166...actually was going to pay online which they charge a $5 convenience fee bringing it to $171. But I just want to know a few things...

1. Is it four points that I will get added onto my license?
2. When I was about to pay it online it asked for my address.. will they send something in the mail about me paying it and how long does it take to come so I know to look out for it?
3. How much on average will it raise there insurance, if at all?
4. If at some point later on can I take drivers school and get the points off my license even after paying the ticket and will that also lower their insurance if it is raised by this?

Thanks!

If you disobey a traffic control device, how many points are being assessed against your license?

Hi

I got two points and a $0 fine for "Failure to Obey a Traffic Control Device" in a NYC Traffic Violation Bureau hearing. Did I do well?

I would be happy with that result in your position. Here's hoping that the $0 fine and 2 points doesn't cause your insurance to go up significantly.  Assuming as such, you did great.  If it causes your insurance to go up, maybe not so much.Remember that a great deal of what courts do is cut the proverbial baby in half.  So they gave you your victory (no fine) and the People got their victory (a conviction).

What happens when you disobey a traffic control device?

You are committing an offence, usually a minor one. Traffic devices are thought to arrange circulation in a quiet and orderly way. By disobeying these devices, you are creating a danger. This danger is virtual, not real danger, because just disobeying them is not necessarily going to conflict with anybody's driving, let alone cause actual harm. But you may as well have become a real danger to someone. The law does not know and does not care. You create (virtual) danger and you may be accordingly punished. But, since the danger is, after all, merely virtual, your punishment will be probably light.

What does Disobeying a Traffic Control Device mean?

That is a New York traffic law. Paragraph (a) states:

Every person shall obey the instructions of any official traffic-control device applicable to him placed in accordance with the provisions of this chapter, unless otherwise directed by a traffic or police officer, subject to the exceptions granted the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle in this title.

Yes, it is a moving violation. Yes, "disobeying" and "failure to obey" are the same.

How do you dispute a "disobeyed traffic control device" ticket in NY?

Most don’t. As a 2-pointer, it’s generally regarded as a mostly trivial ticket. Sure, you can dispute it, but the 1110A violation is vague enough that it’s usually hard to win a challenge against a ticket. It also depends greatly on circumstances. It can be given for honking in a “no honking” zone, or running a stop sign or red light. Disputing it would be different for them, as one is more trivial than the other. If you show up to to contest it, you might be able to plead guilty, and get the ticket on your record, with the points, but get a reduced fine. That’s the best most hope for when contesting.Or hire a lawyer. They know local tricks and will learn your specifics well enough to give you specific guidance.
