Is Bigfoot Real or Fake?
While this probably borders on the edge of the "Science / Alternative" category, Bigfoot or Sasquatch is a legendary creature. The jury is still out on Bigfoot. If there is a great ape living in the American northwest it has alluded capture and killing. All we have of Bigfoot are hair samples, tracks, and some very grainy photos and film footage. It is most likely a hoax. However, the psychoanalyst Carl Jung would have most likely argued that Bigfoot represents the Shadow of the personality, that place where fear comes from. In this sense, yes, Bigfoot is real and an encounter with a Bigfoot is possible in remote locations. Some would claim, "But that's all inside my head! It isn't real!" Well, everything is inside our heads! We just have no clue how big our heads really are!
How long would it take someone to walk the Great Wall of China?
You can’t actually run. . . Or even walk the entire Wall as much of it is in ruin. The Wall you see on TV with happy, smiling tourists is renovated and around Beijing. But beyond the major cities near the Wall, it has been left to crumble.However, there are two other awesome Wall locations a few hours from Beijing: Simatai Great Wall and Jinshanling Great Wall. I have been to both, even slept over night on the Wall at Jinshanling. Nice thing is that there is hardly anyone there as it is about three hours from Beijing. The Wall sections here are in decent shape and authentic, not like the tourist Wall around Beijing where you can hardly move because of all the people!
When was earth discovered to be round and hanging on nothing?
It's been known for quite a while - in what is arguably the oldest book of the Jewish bible (Job) it says: "He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. " Later on in the book Isaiah it says: "He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. " I'm not going to get involved in any religious debate here or any confessional interpretation of these verses only that it was widely believed in antiquity that the Earth was curved and was not necessarily hung or supported on anything. In fact it is probably more likely that the verses I quoted in Isaiah about the circle of the Earth is based on ancient Mesopotamian myths that the Earth was a flat circle floating on an ocean. Obviously there was a prevailing belief that the Earth was supported, for instance in the ancient Greek mythology the God Atlas held the Earth up and in Hinduism the Earth is sitting on the back of four elephants on the back of a giant turtle swimming in a sea of milk etc - so in these early religions the beliefs were interpreted in many different ways. It seems that the ancient Greeks were probably first to figure it out, some people have suggested it dates as far back as Pythagaros in the 6th Century BC and that it's based on the observations of Greek sailors noticing the change in position of stars with latitude. The first mathematically justified indisputable assertion that the Earth is round came from the Greek philosopher and mathematician Eratosthenes around the 3rd Century BC was first to calculate the circumference of the Earth which is extremely accurate even by modern standards of measurement. Seleucus of Seleucia (around the 2nd Century BC) was probably the first to argue that the Earth orbits the Sun. Within the Christian faith the first unequivocable assertion that the Earth was an orb and not a two dimensional circle came from the Venerable Bede in the 7th to 8th century AD. Even today when we have satellites orbitting Earth and seen the Earth from the Moon and measured to less than centimetre accuracy every part of the Earth and mapped it there is still a handful of people that refuse to accept that the Earth is round. Turtle electrocution?
So a couple weeks ago, my brother was feeding our turtles and the heater just fell in. It was on and the turtles where in there. My mom just unplugged it and took it out. The turtles literally just acted normal after that like nothing had happen: so my question is, can turtles be electrocuted?
