Famous people in history who had pride?

I am writing a paper on how hubris comes before the fall, and the only person I can think of is Caesar. Can anyone think of a famous historical person or even a character in literature who showed pride which eventually led to their downfall?

Thank you!

Famous people in history who wore glasses?

Can somebody please give me the names of some famous people who wore glasses and lived before 1800? I know Benjamin Franklin did, but who else? American, British, Russian, whatever. Just as long as they were famous!

Is Donald Trump now one of the most famous people in history?

Donald Trump does dominate the news right now but, when we finally get rid of him and any turmoil that develops when he is forced to vacate the White House (so they can fumigate it) he will gradually face into oblivion. He will remain as a footnote on history for his being the worst president that we have ever done and some of the more odious things he has done like separate children from their families will be what is talked about when his name should come up.In referring to your question you asked if he was one of the most famous men in history. The answer to that is and will be a resounding NO. However if you would have asked if he is one of the most famous people in the world in this day and age the answer would have been YES. He is absolutely HATED by the people who live in other countries and that has been pointed out here on Quora. His popularity in many other countries (other than probaby Israel and Arabia) is mostly in the single digits, lower even than his popularity is here in the states. Because of those individuals absolute hatred for him his is well known, now but that won’t last for too long. As I said he will eventually disappear and people will forget all about him.

How come the majority of famous people in history books were European or American?

All history is self-centered. Even when Western historians gravitate to non-Western cultures, virtually all will compare them to the West and / or to well-known, better-studied cultures such as China, just as one example. And note that while keeping historical records is by no means confined to the West, not many other cultures developed the profession of historian, which goes all the way back to the Greeks with us.Going back to my first sentence, history is self centered because human beings are naturally self centered. It’s quite difficult for us to explore new “worlds” without referencing them to our own experience. (Imagine you had to describe an alien. You’d use “human” descriptors. You don’t have any other words to use, so you’d be trying to use the words you know — even in absence, such as ““the alien did not appear to have ears, but some other alien features look like fingers.”)The history books you read in the West are generally focused on us, either exclusively (a history of the French Revolution) or such writings basically just compare “us” to ““them.” Ex: ““Unlike most of the world, the culture of the Lugu Lake people Is matrilineal and matrilocal.”Hence it’s quite understandable that, if you live in the West , defined as Western Europe and Anglo North America, plus the few other Anglophone nations, including Australia and NZ, your history will be overwhelmingly Eurocentric. It will be interesting to see if a more multicultural mix in Europe, North America, etc., changes this — certainly now our history books (here I mean school textbooks) give more detail on people who used to be ignored (indigenous , women, slaves, immigrants, etc.) but it’s still mostly stories about those dead white males!
