Any good book recommendations in the fantasy genre that aren’t YA?

I love to read but I’m not into YA anymore and I’m exploring the world of adult fiction. I’m quickly finding a lot of it is too dry for me in terms of writing styles, but I adore Jodi Picoult and Liane Moriarty. Are there any good fantasy type novels out there for adults that aren’t mind numbingly boring? I read Styx and Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon at a friend’s prompting and those were alright. Not my favorites but the story lines were good enough for me to finish them both.

I am also looking for books where the story line does not revolve around the main character being smoking hot and having sex with someone every other page. I prefer my books to have an actual plot lol. I’m also not opposed to other suggestions of realistic fiction novels similar to that of Ms. Picoult and Ms. Moriarty. I can’t do horror, I am a huge wimp lol so no Stephen King or James Patterson please. TIA!

Does anybody have a military fantasy book recommendation?

Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game comes to mind. Exactly the genre you’re looking for and I assure you you won’t be disappointed. The first time I started reading the book, I was at a boarding gate waiting to board a 4-hour-long flight. Just as I finished the book, the captain made an announcement that we had begun descent. I sat in cold horror clutching the arm rest, not because I’m afraid of flying, but because it felt as though I’d been kicked in the stomach!I’ll leave you with no spoilers other than that the book is a military fantasy novel set in the future. If you do end up liking the book, Card has 18 other books in the series. I’ve read six of the rest and I found them to be pretty mediocre. I guess Card really raised the bar with the first one!Happy reading!

Percy Jackson
Hunger Games
Divergent
The Iron Fey
Witch Eyes
The Mortal Instruments
The Infernal Devices
The Sisters Grimm
Artemis Fowl
