Fantasy Football Help/tips

Fantasy football help?

There is a server problem on Yahoo! - which I'm taking that to mean so many people are trying to access FF that its overloading their server - there is nothing you CAN do - but be patient and wait it out until they get things sorted out.

Its frustrating as hell - but hopefully everyone in your league is adult enough to understand that this is something that is not YOUR fault - its freakin' Yahoo! - we gotta love it for some twisted reason - otherwise we wouldn't put up with this crap........Hang in there....there are lots of us going through the same thing...I'm EST; everyone else in my league is PT - which means they'll still be awake (most likely) when I'm sleeping and get their teams situated.....but....if I'm reading things right in my league....I'm first in line for the waivers - so thats AWESOME!!!!

Good Luck!

Fantasy Football Help please :)?

I'm in need of a decent runningback for my team since I lost a few. Our league has NO decent runningbacks left as free agents. I want to propose a trade with a kid who has only won one game so far and is also working to fix up his team. Would Maurice Jones-Drew be a good trade for Philip Rivers (I have Philip Rivers). I also have Green-Ellis, Calvin Johnson, Jones/Blount who I need to get rid of, Brandon Marshall, James Starks, Plaxico Burress and Jordy Nelson. I know it's a lot, but just a few tips or ideas would be great :)
Thanks so much to whoever helps, and I will pick a best answer!

Need help on yahoo fantasy football.?

I believe the white folder takes you to general team news, a yellow folder takes you to player-specific news (game stats, injuries, etc.) and a yellow folder with a red asterisk takes you to breaking or important player news and notes.

A red P means "probable" - the player is injured, but will likely play. A red Q means "questionable" - the player could play, but will likely sit out. A red O (I think) means he's "out" for the game, and "IR" means "injured reserve" - the player is injured and out for the season.

What are some good tips for fantasy football beginners?

As mentioned in a previous answer, the most important thing is to know your league rules. Everything else dominoes off of that. Playing in a keeper or dynasty league? Younger talent gets a bump in the rankings. Points per reception? Then bump up players who get a lot of targets. Value fluctuates between leagues based on the different variations of scoring out there.Practice. There are plenty of sites out there where you can set up and run through a mock draft. Use them. Mock drafts can help you get a feel for how players are valued and test out different strategies from different positions. See what works for you. Mocks can help you figure out how to put together a team that you’ll be happy with before the draft even starts.During the draft stay organized and pay attention. Good players sometimes fall through the cracks and can be had for incredible value for savvy owners to snap up.Pay attention to the position runs. Sometimes it’s an opportunity to snatch premium talent from other positions and sometimes you might need to participate in the run depending on your player rankings. Say for example you have 8 QB’s you’re content with having as your starter. A run starts and by the time it’s your pick 7 are gone with 3 QB needy teams picking behind you. If you really want that particular one you better grab them now because odds are they aren’t making it back to you at your next pick.Be flexible. Each draft is unique and no two are the same. No matter how many mocks you do, how many rankings you scour, and how well you think you know your league mates, your always going to have to make adjustments to your strategy on the fly. Being able to adjust to the trends and the runs during the draft is a must to build your squad.Drafting your squad is only the first step. Pay attention to what is happening during the season. Guys get hurt, suspended, and potential replacements come out of nowhere. Work the waiver wire to pick up additions to fill in any soft spots that your roster develops. It’s already been said, but it bears repeating. Have fun. At the end of the day it’s your team. You can run it however you want.

Yahoo! Fantasy Football Cheating (please help!)?

Is it possible for a player's points to change halfway through the week?

On Tuesday and Wednesday, a player in my league (who happens to be the commissioner) was tied with another player. They had the same record and exactly the same amount of points (even to decimals). Today, however, the commish has gained a few points (2.5, to be exact). It may seem insignificant, but our league is really close, so those points may matter.

Also, looking at his roster from last week, there is a player in the roster that scored exactly 2.5 more points than a player that is now on the bench.

I know that it is possible for the commissioner to rectroactively change rosters in the league, but I want to know if there is any other explanation for the sudden gain of points halfway through the week. Or did he just cheat?

What are some tips for running a fantasy football league at work?

Below are some tips from being a commissioner of a work fantasy football league at 3 or 4 companies.Figure out how many people are interested. This number will dictate how the league is run or even how many leagues.Open it up to everybody. It really frustrates me when a league is solely bro fantasy sports dorks (and yes, I am squarely in this demographic). Fantasy sports is not that hard and really doesn’t take that much time. The computer can auto-draft for you, spend 5 minutes a week updating your lineup, and if you get lucky you can win. Encourage anybody with a slight interest to play.Start an email chain or group Slack channel for some trash talking. All the apps or sites, have a section for posting but using the standard communication method at work increases the connection and visibility.Write a post quarterly about the successes and even better the failures. Yes, it does take times but keeps people interested.Set the league up so that the majority of people make the playoffs. It really is a bummer to start out 0-3 and the chances of making the playoffs is very low. But if 8/12 teams make the playoffs, then an 0-3 start is just a speed bump.Play for money. Fantasy sports is not gambling. It is a game of skill as defined by the carve out of the Unlawful Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. So, I say again, play for money. It is just more fun when you have some dollars on the line. But also, just as important, do not make it too rich. The sweet spot is enough to keep your interest but not enough to hurt anybody financially.Collect the money by Week 2. This is the most important part of being a commissioner. Gently remind people. Send emails. Casually mention it as you are walking by. And if all those don’t work, make a deadline. If you do not pay by this time I will lock your team. The work dynamic makes this a little more difficult. It might be tough for the junior accountant to collect money from the CEO but if you can’t do it, you are not fit to be a commissioner.Set the pay out and post it publicly after all money is collected.Pay out promptly at the close of the season. No mid-season payouts. No I will pay you in 2 weeks after I go to the bank. Pay out promptly when the fantasy season ends.Oh, almost forgot. Have fun.
