What is your best friend like?

I call her Bubbles. The name suits her; she’s as bubbly a personality as I’ve ever met. She gets adorably excited over every little thing, and her giggle could make an elephant smile, it’s that infectious. She’s the only one in our friend group that’s as introverted as I am, and it’s for this reason I love hanging out with her. We can sit together, me with my writing and her with her art, companionable in our silence. She’s the one person who can convince me to do dumb things with her, like the time we spent the night on the roof of the school in our pyjamas, talking about anything and everything that came to mind. Her gentle, pleading voice always wins me around every time she needs a partner in crime. She’s observant: she instinctively knows when there’s something wrong. She’s the kind of person who brushes away the “I’m fine”s and “I’m okay”s, holds you tight, kisses the top of your head, and tells you, “I know you’re not.”She’s filled to the brim with mischief, her brown eyes sparkling with it. There’s a smile, a specific smile, that spreads across her face that tells you: she is up to no good. She’s the first person I’d go to if I had a problem, the person I’d spam with anxious texts in the middle of the night, and she regularly does the same to me.She’s the girl that held my hand when I got my braces and people made fun of me, the girl that stuck by me through three crazy years of high school. She’s the one person I’d completely be myself around, the one person who knows me better than I know myself. She’s my best friend.
