Fell On Outstretched Hand A Couple Of Days Ago And It Still Hurts

I fell off my bike and landed on my hand and now it hUrts when I put pressure on it, please help?! ?

The Purple and bump is called a Contusion.( A raised bruise forming.)
If your able to move your hand or wrist, you didn't fracture anything.
Usually with rest, ice, a compression bandage (ACE bandage) and Elevation you should
be fine soon and back riding your bike.
It will feel sore, for awhile...but you could take an anti-inflammatory medication like Ibuprofen.
and keep it wrapped in the elastic Ace bandage for support and protection....Good Luck!

Fell down on my outstretched hand during judo practice. Heard a crack, felt sharp pain. Arm looks fine, has full ROM, but hurts still. What happened?

Its probably no big deal. You probably only strained a tendon or an articulation. Give your arm moderate exercise to help it stretch and heal. Open and close the elbow, give it a much mobility as you can, but dont let it hurt too much, be very careful, something might snap. But dont worry if you feel that. It probably wont be serious, but will take longer to heal and wont be as mobile as it was before (but still very mobile). Also, give it rest and dont do much force with it. Resting and relaxing your arm is very good. In some cases, its good to heal first and develop mobility after, in other cases, its good to do both at the same time. You say you can do everything you could do before, except your arm hurts. Give it rest and relax, use it, but dont do much force with it. Bengay, Icyhot, that kind of stuff, might also help. If it gets worse, go to a doctor. But you ll probably heal on your own without the need.

I fell two weeks ago onto my outstretched hand. I am still having pains in it. Should I get it checked again?

I fell two weeks ago onto my outstretched hand. I am still having pains in it. Should I get it checked again? If your hand was not x-rayed when it was initially checked, you should have it checked again now.If it was previously x-rayed and you received confirmation that you did not break anything, the pain you are experiencing is probably due to deep bruising and it just needs more time to heal.If you are worried, call your doctor.

I hurt my wrist during push-ups. Help?

I was doing them today when I got a really sharp pain in my left wrist. I stopped doing them, straightened my wrist, and the pain went away. However, every time that I bend my hand up or down I get a sharp pain going from just below my wrist up to the palm of my hand.

Help? Does it sound like it is just a sprain?

I tripped on my shoelaces and fell quite hard on my hand (with which I tried to brace my fall with). Now my palm is aching and whenever I move my wrist I feel a somewhat sharp pain. What do I have and how do I treat it?

This type of injury may specifically be associated with damage to a bone in your wrist known as the scaphoid. The reason you should see a physician sooner than later is that this particular fracture may be complicated by osteonecrosis (meaning death of the bone). This happens due to the way the artery enters this bone. When a fracture occurs, the piece not connected to the artery dies. A qualified hand surgeon can fix this before this happens. Once the bone dies, it crumbles and you wind up with a cascade of problems, eventually leading to arthritis and long term disability.Hopefully none of this is relevant in your case and you simply sprained the wrist. That said, I would recommend that you not take the chance. There are other types of injuries that can be associated with this type of fall but I've mentioned this one since time is of the essence. Here is a much more in-depth discussion (with images so you can understand better) http://orthoinfo.aaos.org/topic.... .

Doctors said sprain, feels like fracture? Did I hurt it from golf?

I fell in a parking lot with my friend on my back and hurt my hand. I also play golf and I kept playing after the injury and didn't really give the pain a thought because I thought it was just because I had been golfing a lot lately. I read that you can hit the ground too hard while playing golf and it can fracture your hamate bone?? That's where mine hurts! And it's slightly swollen, and it also hurts in my schalpoid bone(when you push on my snufflebox) I went to the doctors Friday and they said they didn't see it on the X-ray but its like an achy pain and the bone hurts not the joint or muscle, could it be a fracture and they didn't notice? I fell on it last Wednesday and started experiencing serious pain on Friday where I remember hitting the ball weird and it being really painful-also I just started playing this year and I'm 15

I have extreme pain in my hand but there's no swelling or bruising.?

while playing softball, i was hit by a pitch on the back of my hand. it hurt really bad, and it went numb at first...but there is no bruise, and it is not swollen. now a week later, and it still hurts. i can move my fingers but i can't pick up anything and i cant put any pressure on my hand. i don't want to rush to the doctor if it isn't necessary, but what could it be? sprain, fracture, torn ligament etc....
thanks!

Could i have a hairline fracture in my hand? wrist?

Sorry about your getting hurt. My guess is also a hairline fracture, and there doesn't have to be swelling for that. My daughter did the same thing, and it only hurt when the Dr. touched the exact spot where it was broken.

I was a very BAD parent, because she did it right before we left for a trip to Disney World. They weren't sure if it was broken, and the Dr. gave her a temporary velcro on cast until we got back. She SWORE it didn't hurt, so by the end of the vacation, we were letting her on the wet rides and roller coasters without it. We got back from vacation, had another xray, and it was a hairline fracture... six weeks in a cast.

She did it falling exactly like you did, only she fell off her bike, put her hands forward to catch herself, and slapped the pavement. No swelling, no bruising. Just generally sore all over with one spot that was a little more sore than the rest but not enough to say it was definitely broken.

The pins and needles are scary thing... sounds like a pinched nerve or something. I'd get it looked at.

GOOD LUCK!

My arm was badly injured while practicing Judo and it hurts in certain positions, what is my injury and how should I treat it?

You could have torn a muscle and/or tendons and even injured nerves. You should have an X-ray to see if a bone is broken. If it’s the former, use ice for 20 min., then 20 min. off and repeat. After the first couple days, try heat. Take ibuprofen, but if the pain persists, see your doctor again. They may give you something like Vicodin. You may also be referred to a specialist to see if there is nerve damage.Muscles heal faster than tendons, so keep using heat and ice, alternating them. If the healing isn’t proceeding well after a few weeks, you may have torn your rotator cuff, the group of muscles and tendons round your shoulder. The pain tends not to be as severe as a bone or nerve injury, but your motion will be limited. You may need surgery to repair the damage. SO…again, see your doctor.Overview - Mayo Clinic
