Mine do that all the time to my girls,,they are 36 yrs old. I got them when I was 18!
You really have no idea how old she is. The mating should happen in May thru June and eggs hatch in 80 to 90 days.
If she is receptive, she will accept him, otherwise, a fight might start. If after 45 minutes, the female is not receptive to the male's dance, you should remove her from the tank and try again in about two days. The mating itself takes about 15 minutes.
So she is not ready, I have never seen my old gals go after the young studs..they just kinda sit there sad. If they are to old they may never mate.

And Did you know that they need to bask under a reptile light for 8 to 10 hrs a day for the vitamin D that they need to grow.
Leave the heater on 75 to 78 degrees always.
Their water needs to be clean otherwise they get sick easily from dirty water cause they poop allot.
You need a good filter system!
You need to feed them feeder guppies, goldfish or minnows for protein and calcium daily.
They need leafy greens for vitamins at least 3 to 4 times a week.

Your a good parent and with a tank that size..they may get to be 12" long!

Female red eared slider turtle?

Adrian (above me) is correct. Also, you do not have the proper setup for them to mate. There should be a portion of your tank that is land based. It should also contain gravel for the female to put the eggs in. Since you do not have the land portion, I will assume they also do not have anywhere to go to bask. Please go to your pet shop and pick up a book or do some serious research on the web as to how to take care of them. In that kind of enviornment, they won't mate.

My baby red eared slider wont eat?

There are many possible reasons that the little guy isn't eating, but you didn't give a whole lot of info about your turtle so I am going to ask a few questions then try to give you some answers. Did you get him from a pet store? If not then it is unlikely that he was taken care of properly before you got him. I hope you have him in a good enclosure which requires a heat source, ie basking light and a UV light. They aren't the same thing so get both if you don't have them. If he is not warm enough then he can not digest the food so he won't eat. He may not recognize pellet food yet because they don;t find pellets in the wild. Try to feed him something that is alive, like small earth worms or feeder guppies. Small pond snails are also a great food for him. If you have a fish store near your house I guarantee they will have some snail to give you. Sliders also will eat veggies so a small bit of lettuce or kale is worth trying. Once they are eating live food you can gradually mix the pellets in and they should start to eat them, but you should still give them some live food occasionally. Try feeding them in their cage not in a container, because they might be freaking out once you move them, Give them food then leave them alone for a bit, They may not eat with you, a potential predator hovering over them. I hope this helps.

Help - My Injured Red Eared Slider?

Apparently, I have 2 Red Eared Slider in a tank for about 3 years now and something terrible happened, or perhaps it's common. Anyway, the point is my female Red Eared Slider happened to bit the male Red Eared Slider's neck and the next thing I found was a white lump on its neck and also its tail (but not as big of a lump as compared to the neck).

P.S. Those who have reared Red Eared Slider should know that when it comes to food, they are really aggressive. It was when I was feeding them, the biting happened.

I wanted to know what I should do about this~ Should I seperate two of them for the moment. I had visited some sites and there was one I came across who commented that I should raise the water temperature to increase the work of the enzymes as well as the immune system to get the lump heal a.s.a.p. Should I follow this instruction?

P.S. 1 more thing, the turtle is still active and still eats when I fed them this morning.

My Red Ear Slider Turtle's Neck is Bleeding?

I have 2 red ear sliders and the one that I think is a female seems to have an injury on the back of her neck. I don't believe the other one bit her, but I guess it's possible. They are always cuddling though, they really love each other so that doesn't make sense.
I noticed it a couple of days ago and it didn't look bad so I didn't worry about it and it looked like it was healing, but I was looking at her today & it was a little bloody, not bad or oozing though.

They are in a 55 gallon tank, which is filled mostly with water and they have a floating dock to bask on under the heat lamp... but they spend most of their time in the water.

Is this something that will heal on its own or should I do something about it? I don't know what to do & I don't want her to be in pain or get an infection.
