Film Advance Lever Wont Advance

My film advance lever feels loose!?

Hey Joanna,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems with your v3800n.

I can think of two potential problems. One is not a big deal and the other would be a serious problem.

By the way, thank you for using proper camera terminology. So many people ask questions here and don't use correct wording!

1--The advance lever could be loose simply because it is coming unscrewed from the post that it rides on. I've seen this happen on older cameras before and the solution was as easy as simply screwing the lever back down. However, this requires a special tool as well as the knowledge of how to tighten the screw on the advance lever. Having never actually held a v3800n, I'm unsure if you would need a lens spanner and a plastic blade to remove a cover on top of the lever's fulcrum, or what is essentially a rubber jar opener to tighten the screw directly. I can't tell from photos which style assembly they used. But in any case, it would best to have a repair shop do this. It would not cost very much and wouldn't take long for them to do.

2--Worse case scenario is that the film advance gearing has been stripped with use and this would mean you'd probably want to buy a more rugged camera instead of eating a $100+ repair bill. If you were to be in this situation, I'd suggest buying an Asahi Pentax K1000 from KEH.com (where you would get a 6 month warranty) because it would take the same lenses as your v3800n but be a much tougher camera, using metal where the v3800n uses plastic.

I hope that the first issue is the case here and you can get your camera up and running smoothly again. But if it's not, don't be discouraged, it just means you have loved and used this camera to death!

Best of luck and feel free to email me at JohnnyMartyr@Hotmail.com

METAL AND MANUAL! FILM FOREVER!

Film advance lever stuck on my canon FTb QL?

Have you tried pressing the release button on the self-timer? If you don't have the Owner's Manual you can print it out here: http://www.cameramanuals.org/canon_pdf/c... A small donation to Mr. Butkus would be nice of you.

It may be that your FTb needs servicing. I use and recommend Garry's Camera Repair.

My camera's film advance lever wont work, help?

The shutter jamming on these cameras is a common event...

The shutter might jam when the battery dies...it tends to jam after rewinding a film or if you don't complete the full 'wind' action when using the 'wind on' lever...

If you open the back of the camera and try gently but firmly moving the sprockets and spindles for a few turns then the shutter normally re-sets...if the shutter doesn't reset and the rewind button doesn't 'pop' out then you need to consult a local camera dealer for advice...

It's impossible to 'estimate' anything over the internet...so you need to visit a dealer.

Film Advance Lever Stuck on Nikon FM10?

Press the film sproket release button on the bottom and then lift the rewind crank (so as to open the back cover).

Now see if the spool for sprokets is turning freely or not (located on the right of the shutter with teeth for film on top and bottom). If it's free, once again with the back open try lightly turning the film advance lever to the end. Click and repeat it once. If everything is fine, close the back cover and enjoy. Don't touch the shutter when you do this testing.

Don't apply too much pressure. If it doesn't release the advance lever, give it for servicing.

Film advance lever stuck canon ae-1 program?

Hi Momma Bear, sorry you've had a failure with your Canon AE-1 but do not fret! I have some useful advice and won't laugh at you for expecting a return policy on a totally solid and usable camera!

In fact, if you'd purchased your camera from a reputable camera shop such as KEH.com, you'd have gotten a 6 month warranty that would cover this. All decent camera shops and camera repair shops offer various length return policies on 25, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 100 year old cameras. Returns on these items are not unheard of because their functional condition can easily be ascertained and addressed.

The problem, as others have mentioned, is not unusual of cameras of this age. It's a result of dried lubricants. It's nothing more than normal maintenance to remove and replace these lubricants adjust the mechanisms and replace the foam light seals. I'd recommend sending the AE-1 to CameraRepair.com for this and it will cost around $125 and will come with a 6 month warranty on the work.

While others will discourage you from going to the trouble, consider that a new 35mm or digital SLR would cost twice as much or more and any used Camera is bound to run into the same or other problems unless you pay at least as much as the repair cost.

So while it is frustrating that the first seller will not stand behind their product, I would chalk it up to a learning lesson and take proper care of your camera by having it serviced so that you can enjoy it for another 30 years before it needs service again!

Best of luck!

Pentax k1000 Film advance lever stuck (Film camera help)?

I just bought a Pentax K-1000 from a local Goodwill. I thought it would have been a great thing to have since I am new to film photography. It appeared to be in great condition. I didn't mess with it until I got home.I sat down on the couch and tried to move the lever that advances the film (I didn't put any film in it) . It won't budge. Everything else in my opinion looks alright except that the lever won't budge. The mirror is down, the film rewind crank will move, I am not sure what the problem is besides the fact that the film advance lever won't move. I don't want to try to fix the camera myself because I am very inexperienced. I live in the Lenoir area of North Carolina and I'm not sure if there are any camera service places nearby.
I am beginning to think that due to the cameras age it is unusable.
I really looked forward to using this camera, please someone help :(

Film advance lever problem in PROMASTER 2500K camera? it wont snap back. it's all loose!?

My film advance lever won't trip. It's loose and won't let me take a picture. I use PROMASTER 2500PK..kay, so I don't know much about cameras. I borrowed this camera from school to take pictures for an assignment. I put the film in the camera. The film advance lever was working fine. But then all of a sudden, it just got loose and goes all the way back and won't snap back. I don't know what to do. Please help. :(

What's wrong with my Canon AE-1 35mm camera? The film advance lever won’t work after I try loading film into it.

You may need to trip the shutter and advance the film a couple of times before the film is actually sufficiently loaded. Each time you trip the shutter the advance lever should work properly. After advancing it a couple of times, be sure the film is properly loaded by gently twisting the rewind lever until you feel some tension. If you don’t feel tension, then you will need to open the camera back and re-attach the film to the take-up spool. Then you will be starting the loading process over again. Note: If you are unable to trip the shutter, then either you have the shutter button locked or you have a dead battery.

What is the most advanced camera?

According to me the most advanced camera is the Sony Pregius CMOS sensors camera. It comes with different models like HR/HT 3000 S, HR/HT 5000 S, HR/HT 8000 S and HR/HT 12000 S having CMOS sensors imx250, imx252, imx253 and imx255. Mostly these cameras are used for industrial purposes.
