I'm 18, jobless, and getting kicked out...?

Navy has great paying jobs and wonderful retiring benefits, army is the place to go,but you should go to college first so I'm not sure, look for ones close to you the cost less in state.or take one online in an army career, best wishes, btw, long story short doesn't make the story shorter lol

I am feeling very low. All of my friends have a better job and higher pay package than me. Its too intimidating. What should I do to encourage myself?

This might be not easy to listen (read) but bear in mind my role here is to provide my opinion or insight on what I believe can help you. I'm not supposed to tell you what you want to hear, but what you need to hear.Mind you, I'll be respectful, no trash, but no BS anyway. You need to make a reset. Really. Reset your way of thinking and by consequence your way of living. The world isn't about you, the world isn't about how much you have more than others. The world is about knowing where we're heading, why we're heading there and what do we aim to build, create and share. And in all this, there is no mention to money, jobs, grades, studies or companies. It's all about people. Money? cars? property? job titles? they's a bi-product. If you're ruled by them, and they're your sole motivation, you'll never fill fulfilled. You should never benchmark with anyone. This life isn't about competition. Don't compete with anyone. You shouldn't compete, but complete. The competition you can do is against the best version of yourself. Everyday, ask yourself "Am i the best version I could possible be?", ""could I have done a better job? could I have helped more?"You could get eventually the same pay or higher of your peers, than what? would be a better person? than you'd go for a higher salary, a bigger car, a bigger house, a bigger company and so on and so on and this would become a never ending story.Want to compare your standards? go to an hospital, see ill people, see people who had accidents, see people who lost beloved ones. Go out to the street, talk to homeless people, listen their stories. This isn't suppose to lower your ambitions or put you down. Its the other way around. This is to motivate you, to make you aware how life can swing on a second and how all you give so much value today, can go away in a blink of an eye. What do you have left? yourself. So change your perspectives. Ask yourself "who am I", "what do I want", "what is my purpose", "what am I grateful for".Change your habits, way of thinking. Ask yourself what drives you in life.Read, read a lot, change habits, step by step. Find your north.

I want to resign because I have a better job offer (around 1.5x). What should I do if my boss offers me a better salary? Should I stay in that case?

I will start with a story. My friend got a job offer from another company which was about 40–50% more than her current salary. She put down the paper. Her Manager called her for a meeting. When she reached the meeting room, the practice director was also present along with the manager. the director did all the talking and offered my friend to withdraw her resignation on the promise of onsite within 1-2 months time. Tempting offer! And she accepted it. She withdrew her resignation. This story is of 2015–16. It’s been more than 3 years. She is still in the same company awaiting that onsite opportunity promised by the Director!Moral of the story? Words mean nothing in the corporate world. Unless your manager gives you in writing keeping his/her superiors and HR posted that he/she will give you a better salary by certain time frame, their words are nothing but a lollypop (fake promise).Once you put down a paper, you show that you have all intention to move on. Your manager and director know it. Your HR knows it. They will just keep you waiting on the pretext of a fake promise and as soon as they get a new replacement, who has taken all the training from you and ready to take over the job you are doing, you will be thrown out of the company on any lame excuse. You got a good offer because you had all intention to move on and so started searching for a new job. You are not satisfied with your position/salary/value in the present company. Even if your present company matches your offered salary, it’s you only who has to lose the opportunity. If your company value you that much, you can come back later on if not satisfied with your new job.So without a doubt, move on. Go ahead and Explore the new horizons of your career!

Is going to law school worth it? Job Prospects...?

I've wanted to be a lawyer for 6 years. I recently graduated from undergrad and have been prepping for the LSAT, on and off, while volunteering, etc. Anyways, no one wants the life story :D
This is a question geared towards either law students or lawyers/graduated law students: Was it worth it? Were you able to find a job and do you enjoy your job? Do you recommend this career path? I'm certain I want to be a lawyer and I'm positive I want to go to law school but I know that due to the economy and sluggish job market, it may not be a great investment... especially if I get accepted and decide to go to a school that charges$40,000+ a year... Any advice?
Thank you!

PA Unemployment Appeal Hearing HELP PLEASE!!!!?

I am only 20 years old I start working for a cable company at age 18 was there for almost 2 years. I was out on short term disability due to a medical condition. During this time period I had some personal issues happen, I lost my means of transportation and had problems with my doctor sending paperwork showing I was out on short term to the disability company and also my job. My doctor did provide it for sometime, therefore I only got a little of pay and since I lost my means of transportation and at the time also my housing I was unable to return to work. I got a letter from my employer stating termination. I filed for unemployment, my unemployment claim was denied because my employer stated I voluntarily quit, which this was not the case. So I filed an appeal and wrote a letter explaining the situation that occurred. According to PA unemployment if someone loses their transportation and has no transportation options they are eligible for unemployment benefits. At the time my residence, there was no public transportation and the residence I moved into recently also there is no public transportation available. I filed my unemployment claim on 9/18/11 and filed my appeal on 10/20/11. I received a letter stating of a hearing for 11/23/11. I do not have any money to hire a lawyer and don't have anybody who could serve as my lawyer or really help me either. I do not know much about hearings and etc. I have no idea what to do. I did some research and saw some videos regarding appeal hearings for unemployment, but I have no idea what to do. I don't understand the objections and all that about a hearing. Can someone please help me and give me some good advice on what I should do. Thank you!

Job offer from scotia personnel ltd..please help or beware!?

I was looking for somewebsite that looks for some job offer direct or through agency in Canada precisely, and one of an agency send an email here is what they stated:

In order to begin processing your file, the following documents are required:

· Complete resume / Biodata

· Photograph (s)

· A letter introducing yourself to prospective employers

· Copies of any documents such as diplomas or written reference letters, First Aid certificates, etc.

In addition to these items, a $1300.00 USD non-refundable processing fee is also required: $900.00 USD due to activate your profile for referral to potential employers, and $400.00 USD payable within 2 weeks of your accepting a job.. You may send your application package by post, through registered mail or courier.

Upon receipt of the above documents and fee, your file can be referred to potential employers across Canada. As this is a lengthy process, it is important to forward the aforementioned fee and documentation to our office as soon as you have made your decision to utilize our services. In addition, feel free to apply in advance if you wish; just be sure to note your availability date for employment when you apply.

I am not stupid to send that amount coz i know its too big for an Asian like me. But one of my friend said that some agencies do so like that. So how will i know that an email from an agency is true? and besides I want to hear also some stories similar like this one.

arigato!

I just got offered a job at Google. The base pay is 19% lower than my current job. The total comp after bonus and GSU is still 7% lower. I think the opportunity to work at Google would be great, but the comp level is disappointing. What should I do?

[This answer is focused on engineering ladder positions, and may be bad advice for non-engineering positions]The single most important part of your offer is the level that you are being hired at. Until your first promotion, all future raises and refreshes will be based on this level. Your initial offer is also based on this level (although there is significant room to adjust within each level).Total Google compensation is, by design, excellent for equivalent positions. It’s not impossible to find positions that pay more than Google, but it is hard.If your current job pays more than Google is offering, you are probably a reasonable candidate for a Google position that is one level higher. The recruiter is on your side. He wants to hire you. He is incentivized to hire you. He is also an expert on the Google hiring process, and has a strong understanding of what is and is not possible.Tell your recruiter that you are disappointed with your offer. Tell him that you think you are further along in your career than the offer suggests. Tell him that you want an offer that is one level higher with a matching base salary and initial equity grant. The recruiter already knows how realistic this is. Listen carefully to what he says about your chances of getting an offer one level higher.Ignore anything the recruiter says about getting promoted quickly. There are all sorts of true (and untrue) things he can say about this that serve no purpose other than to distract you from getting an offer that is one level higher. If the initial offer is lower than T5 [lower than Senior SWE], consider passing on the opportunity unless they slot you appropriately. Google won't stop being interested in you. The next time you interview you can make sure that you are evaluated at an appropriate level. (Also, if this is clearly your attitude, the recruiter will do what he can to get you the level you want right now.)If the initial offer is T5 or higher, getting slotted at a higher level may be unrealistic. Tell the recruiter that this is what you want. But if your goal is to work at Google at some point, be prepared to accept additional compensation instead. Getting new non-managers in at T6 or higher is a major pain and is not realistic for the vast majority of people who get a T5 offer.

Are there any miracle stories on the Tahajjud? Do people’s duas get accepted? How does Allah answer your prayers?

I have an experience and sharing only to wish if it could make anyone start doing it.After completing BBA, I decided to go for chartered Account (CA) Course in Bangalore which is the most toughest course in India having pass out percentage of only 2%!I had registered for CA and even paid the fee. I had one month time before commencing CA classes. That was ramzan and I decided to spend all days at masjid with I’thikaf and every night I performed Thahajjud and cried Allah for my completion of CA course. You think I’m CA today? No I couldn’t. Let me complete..I went to Bangalore but I couldn’t get any senior CA for CA articleship which was mandatory before writing CA exam. I searched for more than a month and finally gave up and really felt bad for being my prayer not accepted because my tahajjud dua gave me such an impression that my dua will not be rejected.I then started to search for a job. Got a job in a place? to where I used travel 3 hour up and down everyday. After working there for an year, I come to know that there is an institution next to my company which teaches Quran and other Islamic aspect (Aalim Course). I joined there without leaving my job.Today, I’m a student of Islamic knowledge and can understand most of the Arabic books as well as Quran by the grace of Allah. Running a newly started youtube channel exclusive for Islamic dawa and a website for Islamic online courses. “Sync Islam” is the brand name of dawa wing. I’m also a financial Manager in a private company where I get handsome payout with 2 weekend holiday and 7.5 working hours a day.Now I can’t say my prayer wasn’t answered because now I have a CA under me who works for my company. To conclude, acceptance of dua doesn’t mean getting same or getting it immediate. Allah knows what is better for you more than you know and He will give something better. May be an exclusive CA would have made me a non-following Muslim. I still ask forgiveness from Allah for loosing hope on Him while I left CA studies.Sync Islam
