Is Firefox 3 moving REALLY sluggishly for anyone else?

Turn off all your add-ons and plug-ins. restart it, if it has sped up then its a add-on issue, so jsut turn each one on in turn, restarting it each itme toill you find the one that slows it down, then uninstall the add-on/plug-in. it takes a whiel( especially if you have alot, whihc might be the cuase too) but could find the culprit.

Also clear the cache/cookies/temp fiels etc.

if all else fails uninstall and re-install it or use Chrome

Firefox 33 - Is this Browser Update Crashing for anyone else here?

all good here.. haven't seen anyone else complain and I read around a lot..
uninstall avast (it ain't that great anyway)
uninstall firefox.. use the registry cleaner that ccleaner provides
uninstall mozilla maintenance
remove firefox folder from appdata
(users youraccountname appdata\local\mozilla)
might was well remove updates from it too
appdata is a hidden folder.. you have to set explorer to show hidden files/folders

then reinstall...

instead of avast.. try Baidu
http://antivirus.baidu.com/en/

top rated.... extremely fast install and scans... very low on cpu usage

Good question! Choosing a browser is partly about features, and on the basis of features you’ve got a good set of choices there. All the browsers you list come from reputable companies. They’re all very compatible with the web. They all get frequent bug fixes and feature improvements. They’re all safe and secure (more or less). They all have mobile versions. So what differentiates them? Many of the browsers you could choose are built by companies whose business is to make sure you see lots of their ads or buy lots of their hardware. That means they may monetize your browsing activity (e.g. sell it to advertisers) or try to lock you in to a suite of interconnected tools that are deliberately incompatible with the broader web (e.g. a closed mobile app ecosystem or an online office suite).Unlike the other browsers you mention, Firefox is built by a nonprofit, Mozilla, that has a mission to protect individual access, privacy and security on the internet. Mozilla accomplishes this mission in part by building a free, open-source, standards-based browser that does not have any hidden business agenda. If the features of a product don’t make your choice obvious, you might consider factors like motive and business model. There are real differences.

A desire not to be beholden to Google. There's a core of open-source enthusiasts who like nonprofit software development and object to corporate hegemony. There may not be that many of them on the scale of world computer users, but you did ask...

Opera mini mobile browser are known for loading pages faster because of a technology called cloud acceleration, it was useful for compressing webpages before they are shown to you and was really popular among s40/Java mobile devices, whereas other browsers were delivering full web experience by showing all the CSS/HTML details and Animation on the web pages you visit. As smartphones started to become the thing and data became affordable for most, people wanted a good web experience and opted for mobile browsers like Chrome, UC browser; Opera mini was still used by many mobile users especially in third world countries where Internet data plans are still expensive for most. So, most of the opera mini users at that time had to switch to better mobile browsers and Opera wasn't going to dominate the desktop browser game, if anything, most of the opera desktop browser users today are the loyal Opera mini users. In summary, the reason Opera browser isn't as popular as other web browsers is because they were too focused on making browsers for mobile phones that didn't display webpages as nice as other browsers which made it faster for browsing and used less data (a good advantage if you ask me) until recently when other browsers like Mozilla & Chrome have already gained more loyal users.

Firefox Quantum, as per my opinion.Firefox Quantum has overcame a lot of issues that held it back from becoming the best browser.Which is why Chrome was the best until the release of Firefox Quantum. But, now I personally don't feel Chrome is the NOT the only best browser anymore.I've been the biggest fan of Google Chrome and other Google products. I never thought I would switch from Chrome to Firefox. Which apparently happened after release of Firefox Quantum. Why it is not a Bad idea to make a switch to Firefox?Believe me, I don’t switch things that I use regularly. And Chrome was one of those things. But if as I started using Firefox Quantum, I never thought of going back to chrome. So, what made the difference?First things first.Chrome and Firefox have their own weaknesses & strengthChrome Strengths & Weakness -Weakness -Bad Memory management (It uses lots of RAM)Weakness -Tracking (Google collects lot of data)Strength - Speed & User experienceFirefox (Old) Strengths & Weakness -Strength - No TrackingStrength - Best Memory Management (Uses less RAM)Weakness - Speed, Speed and SpeedSo, considering SPEED is the Most important criteria for most people, chrome had become most widely used browser. But Memory management problem still existsBUT, now in the new Firefox Quantum, the SPEED has improved a lot. Now we have Speed, Less memory usage and also No tracking. Now Firefox Quantum has everything Chrome has and additionally it also has Great Memory Management. So, now Firefox is better in most aspects than Chrome. Also Mozilla has added many more great features to Firefox Quantum browser. So, there’s nothing wrong to say that Firefox Quantum is better browser than Chrome.Hope it helps|Susheel Karam|Follow me on Twitter @Susheel_karam

Is "openh264 video codec provided by cisco systems" a virus?

Firefox has it as a "Plug-In", but I didn't authorize it. It is set to update by "Default", and "Always Activate"; NO OPTION for "ASK TO ACTIVATE". I Can select "NEVER ACTIVATE", but what might happen? I don't know what this is even FOR! No way am I going to their website. Also, when I looked at the "License", I was directed to a "CHROME" URL! I have had nothing but problems with Fire Fox "Not Responding" for months. Maybe this is why?
Also, I've found others, besides me, who believe that JAVA 7 installed Chrome on our systems.
So much comes up with "chrome" in the url's when I'm browsing for solutions to my puter problems.
I also HATE that Fire Fox partnered w/ Yahoo. I know I can still use other search engines too, but it just makes me wonder if Fire Fox is all I HAD thought it was cracked up to be! I'm about ready to just use IE. Guess MS wins... (IF I can use IE. This puter was the main puter for the other two puters next door to me and I left it with another family member's credentials. Neither of them can get on-line with ANY Browser BUT CHROME. This happened more recently too. I had changed the Group, etc, but I think that this puter is still somehow Number 1 the line (Network). Dang, I've been computing since the late 80's, but the technology has surpassed my abilities. "Spinning wheel... got to go round"... Spinning wheel got to GO SOLID, @#!! it! I have a newer laptop with Win8 to 'set-up', and I'm terrified to even open the lid and turn it on, esp. w/ this computer in my home! I need an expert, but I don't have 'expert $$'. I'll figure it out.
Thanks for this info! (Sorry, if too much 'other' in this reply? And, no, it's not an 'answer'. Will let you all know if I find an answer!)

The reason behind this error is the Google Chrome because of ending support for Symantec SSL Certificate. So, if you open the website that running under the Symantec SSL Certificate, Google Chrome browser render them insecure. As per your question How can I fix this error? No, you can’t fix it even the clicking the advance button wont help to load the website. This is a public announcement from Google to every website owner. Google Chrome has already started the process of ending support for Symantec Certificate.
