First Car/driving Experience

What was your worst car driving experience ever?

So this is not a driving experience but a car parking experience. The other day I was really sick but had an important lecture which I had to attend at any cost. As soon as the lecture got over I rushed to my car to get back home and rest. Unfortunately what I saw was a Honda City horizontally parked behind my car creating a T Shape making it impossible for me to take my car out. I asked everyone in the vicinity whose car was that and was not able to find the owner. So here I was standing sick, restless and in the heat for half an hour waiting for the owner to arrive. And finally my wait was over and this girl may be in her mid 20s arrives and sat in the Honda City without even a smidge of regret on her face and refused to look me in the eye while I was staring at her like thisI was already drained and decided to let go and sat in my car assuming she will take her big ass car out of the way. After waiting for 5 minutes the car had still not moved an inch and I totally lost it. I got out of my car and all hell broke lose when I realised that madam is busy texting someone. I literally screamed at her to move her car out of the way and she pulled down her window and screamed and I quote "DON'T YOU HAVE SOME MANNERS ?" I was like “ what the hell, Mam you don't have any parking sense first of all, I have been waiting for you to move your car for half an hour in this heat and you instead of being anywhere close to apologetic have the odasity to shout at me and teach me manners”to which she replied and I quote again " I am talking to someone can't you see, I will call the police if you shout at me again ". By this time I was totally pissed and while we were arguing I called the police myself, even though I was aware she can make things up in front of them but I decided to take the risk. The police arrived and she did exaggerate about my screaming and added few words on her own then too the police was able to understand my situation and towed her car away. I mean some people think they are the king or in this case Queens of the world and are totally oblivious of what's going on outside their private space.Image Source: Google Images

First time driving experiences.?

I've been in your position before, so I'd like to share my experience and hopefully it will help you out. When I started first driving, my instructor made me start off driving on the streets that were semi-busy even though I've never had any prior experience in driving. At first, I thought I was going to start off in a big empty parking lot so that I can practice turning and getting a taste of maneuvering the car. I was a little scared and nervous starting off on the street, but my instructor told me not to worry. I guess since the instructor's car had dual set of pedals on it, the instructor will have control over any mistakes of the student driver. On my first day, I was taught some basic tips and steps of driving, then I was already driving around the city. When I started driving on my very first time, I felt nervous but eventually I felt a little less scared as time went by because I realized driving was not as hard as I expected. The only problems I had was turning, staying within my own lane, and changing lanes. However, I soon was able to fix those problems after a few more lessons of practice.

And yes, you can definitely learn how to drive in 12 hrs if you are a fast learner. Some take even longer to learn, but it depends on each individual. But of course, continual practice after your lessons is a must in order to perfect your driving. For me, I took around 11-12hrs of driving lessons. Then after that, I drove a few times on my friend's car around places to get additional practice without the aid of my instructor. I think the reason why it was fast for me was because I really loved driving while learning it, which made me more confident on the road, and my instructor was a good guy that taught me exactly what I needed to do for the license test and the road in general. My experience of learning to drive was a good one and I was lucky to find a good instructor that was very helpful and did not rip me off. Also, my friend that let me drove around was extremely helpful and supportive of me as well because he provided me some tips that I did not learn from my instructor.

I suggest after your lessons, you should ask a relative or a friend and try driving with someone on your side a few times. Also, practice driving around the dmv neighborhood because that will usually be where they will test you for your test. It will help you a lot if you are familiar with the roads and traffic there.

Good Luck!

Describe your first time driving experience?

oh man.... i'm about to get long-winded but im just gonna say it shorten lol well, when i was driving for the first time i was probably 13 but i dont remember that cause it was ages ago and it was short, so my official first time driving was when i was 14 and i was driving an VAN!! + it had all those clutch and other stuff so it wasn't automatic (automatic is for losers) so i was just 14 and i learned how to use all those stuff and i remember i couldn't keep it straight so i was going around and dad was like, uh you sure you still wanna do this. i was like hell yeah i must learn this **** so i drove like 80km the first 40 were probably the worst ones and the others were the enjoyable. now im 15 i have driving license + i dont drive automatic car!!

let me assure you this first driving is NOT easy you need to watch out for everything, whos behind you, whos infront of you, the sides the sidewalk the pedestrian crossing, the speed of driving especially if you're driving in big city with all those cars around you may cause you panic. so dont do that just keep it chill and stay calmed :)

GOOD LUCK, all the best ! :)

What's the worst experience you've had while driving?

My mom once told me a story of the dumbest car crash she has ever seen, it went like this. When my sister just started pre-school, the school system was corrupt. Every day, there was no school buses, no carpool, and my mom ended up having to send my sister to school via car.One beautiful day, my mom and my sister were driving to pre-school. Another driver, who was tailgating us, started screaming and screeching his tires. This action called for attention, and the need for our car to get the fuck out of there. My mom unwillingly moved out of the lane, while the driver screeched ahead. My sister was hearing a lecture from my mom, when a deafening noise plagued the air. Up ahead, we could hear people screaming, pedestrians backing away, as the mob revealed a broken car that just hit a tree. And, you guessed it, the car crash was of the car that wanted our car to get the fuck out. Because they were speeding, they crashed into the tree on the sidewalk.Moral of the story:No matter how fast you want to go to a destination, do not put your life at risk just for the benefits of getting to somewhere earlier.

What was your experience when you first started driving?

Dreadful..!Rewinding back to 2015, I was sitting inside the driving seat of Tata Indica Ev2 diesel trim. My younger brother was just beside me. The only one in our fam who knows how to drive then.We were in a calm Street, perfect for a novice who learns driving. As per his instructions, I turned my steering wheel inwards, in-order to park the car in an appropriate position.I confused my biking knowledge with car. He asked me to take off my legs from the clutch pedal and waited for me to steer to the postion he wanted me to do so. I was totally unaware that, only leaving the clutch would move the vehicle, instead I pressed the accelerator pedal meanwhile doing the clutch release. The result was nasty. I rode over a black Hero Honda Splendor which stood neatly on my left. It's been badly bruised all over and lost two of it's indicators. We guys were kept on scolding by our parents till the next day. I felt so uncomfortable with so called CARS. That pushed me to limit myself with driving only bikes. But,You know what, you will never know what tomorrow actually brings. Now, I have happily crossed 10,000+ kms with my car, covering two states down south which includes 10+ times of pleasure hill driving.~HappyDriving~

What was your first motor vehicle learning-to-drive experience (motorcycle and car)?

I started pretty young. Aged 11.My first memory of driving education is sitting in the passenger seat in charge of the manual gear stick as my father drove our Maruti 800.It was a huge deal for me then. Reading the situation and working the gearing as soon as he hit the clutch. The goal was to always get it right and not give my dad an opportunity to step in and tell me what gear to put it in or worse still, do it himself. Then when I was about 11 or 12, as soon as I could reach the pedals whilst still in the seat, my driving lessons began. In a remote neighbourhood after school about 4 pm on weekdays. Off the grid like a vigilante teaching his minion the tricks of the trade, my father let me drive.I took to it like fish to water. Somehow I didn’t have any fear when I really really should have. I’d seen him drive for so long, I’d played racing games with a shitty little racing wheel for so long, that it all just felt natural and fell into place.Aged 13 or 14, I was a decent driver. Aged 16, I was good. Aged 18, I smashed my driving test and got my license on my birthday.(Maruti 800 - The real OG)Thanks for the question, Surya Charan.

I'm 17 and just got my first car. What are some tips/advice for driving?

I have to say I am SO HAPPY to see ANYONE asking this question, no matter their age. Well done you!!Here are two things I have learned, one of which I was told before I was 15 and for some reason it just stuck - and thank god too cause it has saved my life on at least one occasion if not more.Always know what is happening well ahead of you and well behind you on the highway. My dad told me this when I was around 13 or 14 years old and it LITERALLY saved my life on the highway when I was 24 and saw a reckless driver coming down the highway behind me weaving in and out of cars at breakneck speed. I had time to tell my brother who was only 12years old at the time to brace himself and I pulled over to the slow lane as the same car crashed into the median directly in front of me. Had I not seen him coming ahead of time and braked he would have crashed into my car and most likely killed my brother and I.This advice has served me well on so many occasions I can’t even count all of them but this one will never leave me.Don’t just watch the car in front of you - watch the traffic in front of you.My other brother (not the one who was in the car in that other story) is the worst one for not obeying this rule. He tailgates and brakes at the last possible second and has been in a couple crashes when he was younger as a result. I have never been in a crash. I am never surprised by a sudden braking of the car in front of me because I saw the twelve cars in front of it braking long before it did!! This definitely goes along with my previous point but they are both important :)I would mention others but other people here have done a fabulous job of giving you great advice.Good luck!!
