First Day At Work Any Advice

First day of work at Starbucks, any advice?

Always be at least 15 minutes early for work, follow the rules of your workplace exactly, be kind and courteous to your boss. your co-workers and especially your customers. Don't worry about getting everything right on your first day, it will all come to you and before you know it, you will be doing just great. I work at a Tim horton's, and my boss always tells us that we have to treat each customer like they were the ONLY customer. I will also give you a site to look at that we had to watch at a store general meeting. This guy is awesome, and he has some really good ideas on how to be a good worker in any job.

I have a story that relates to that, only its not the person’s first day of work, it is his second. The company I work for was giving a proposal to a government costumer for a $100 million contract. Outside the conference room where the meeting was taking place were working cubical. A new guy sat in the cubical right outside the door to the conference room. The first day of the conference, some of the government people used his wastebasket which interrupted and upset him. Then the second day the meeting started early so when the new guy came to work, the conference had already stated. The new guy discovered his wastebasket was gone and someone taken his scotch tape. The new guy got so up set, he walked in the conference room (with over 50 attendees), walked to the front and said, “Excuse me, I sit in the cube right outside the door and someone in this room took my wastebasket and scotch tape. I would like it back right not. The room went silent, you could hear a pin drop. The company VP quickly walked up to the new employee, whispered something to him and they both quickly walked out.The next day the new employee no longer sat in that cubical. The government asked the company not to fire the guy and the company did not but I never did see the guy again.

First Day at work?! It was hard:( Advice Please?

I Work at a bank and my first time was scary because i had no experience as a teller. so everyone got a bit annoyed because they had to explain every single detail to me. But i do have to say not everyone was helpful or even willing to help me. Also my job consist in selling. Yeah im those annoying people walking in aisles trying to convince the customers inside a store(dnt want to mention names haha) and well that was even harder. What i wanted to do is quit but the pay made me stayed haha. Now after a year there i am one of the most experience tellers they have and selling is easier for me. what helped me was asking quests.and reading information on the products we have. I am pretty sure theres like flyers on animal food , dogs, or animal products etc. at your job. My advice to you is to inform yourself with flyers, ask for additional help and take notes even though that sounds a bit silly. it actually works because when customers ask questions you will already know what to answer. and try to remember what type of products is in each aisle. Or give the excuse i use to use when i worked in retail " oh im sorry i just started working here let me ask someone" haha but after u ask someone try to memorized it.

First day of work is on Black Friday. Any advice?

Get plenty of rest before hand as it will be a busy day!

Wear comfortable shoes yourself as you will be on your feet the entire shift. Make sure to eat something while on break as you will need to keep your energy up!

Most of the sales you will experience Friday will be people coming to you. Be as courteous as possible as some people can be somewhat rude.

Sad to say, but keep you eye on the merchandise as there may be people looking to take advantage of you. Some have even come into a shoe store, and while the associate's back is turned, they take off their old shoes, put on the new shoes and walk out. Hopefully you will have all good, honest customers!

Watch the other associates as they interact with customers. You will learn a lot from them.

Good luck, and enjoy your new employment!

First Day of High School ??? Any Advice ?

On the first day of school, just befriend the people in your classes. If you already have friends going to your school, then you shouldn't have a problem about where to sit during lunch.

Just wear a nice CASUAL outfit and wear your hair normally. A cute top and jeans will do you good. There's no reason to dress-up on the first day of school...the seniors will just stare and laugh at you, thinking, "Why's this freshman dressing up? this is SCHOOL! Not some banquet."

And girls won't hate you because you have a cute boyfriend. I mean, girls are alot more mature than you think. Not ALL of them will like him and trust me, grade 9 gals aren't all looking for bfs. Infact, most (almost all) freshman in my school don't have/want bfs. Alot of people are on the football team, including those mega-hawtt seniors that the girls are all over!

Don't be scared, you're thinking too much. Just be nice to everyone and they'll be nice to you back! Starting off the first day being a drama-queen won't do you any good.

Thanks for the A2A.Of course, showing up would be a decent (obvious) start, though there are those who don’t do that. That baffles me, frankly. Furthermore, showing up on time is pretty necessary, unless you’re lucky enough to bag one of those roles with flexible hours, i.e. come in whenever, do your time and go. Even then, though, you’ll want to go in when your boss does, to show willing.Pay attention. You can’t go in like you know everything, and ignore what you’re told. Not only will this give them a bad first impression of you, but you could also miss something important which you will later need to know.Show some interest. Being enthusiastic about being there will get you off to a good start. It’ll increase your concentration, therefore helping you to absorb the new information about your job. Do your best, and don’t be afraid to ask questions, even if they seem stupid. To me, that would tell me that you’re willing to get stuck in.For a little more, you could always follow this list of what not to do.

Advice for first day of freshman year?

First things first-Don't be nervous!!
I was a freshman last year and I was nervous and excited at the same time. I was worried I was going to get lost and such, but I stuck with a friend that would be in my next period class[if possible], so we could find the room together:)
And if you can't find anyone, just ask a teacher standing outside the doors [if there is any]. Or you could ask any friendly-looking upperclassmen/classmates or simply any friends you know and ask them if they know where it is-because they might have passed it already or have been in that room before!
I also thought the work was going to be brutal, it's really not if you write down what you need to do and don't start your homework at 11pm...like me:P

As for the lunch problem, just ask maybe a some new people you've met in your classes, and ask if you can sit with them if they have the same lunch. If not, find someone else in the cafe who has no one to sit with, or just a nice-looking group of people:)

And I warn you-walking the hallways of school is like walking the streets of New York, meaning-IT'S CROWDED!
Just quickly go around people and say excuse me, don't push people!:P

Since you're a freshman, you most likely won't get in trouble if you're late for class, because the teachers know that you're going to get lost.

But most importantly-Just be friendly and be yourself! That's the way to go!
Be sure to introduce yourself, say hi and smile in the hallways to your new classmates!
Also, participate every now and then, so people will notice you!:)

GoodLuck in High School!:)))

My story: I passed my fashion room about three times and was late, but my teacher was okay with itXD And I was late with my friend, which kind of made me feel a little better:P
I was supposed to sit with my friend at lunch, because at orientation, we saw we had the same lunch, and lemme tell you-NO ONE HAD THAT LUNCH!!://
And she was meeting someone else to sit with too, and that someone was a girl I used to be really good friends with in the 4th grade, but I lost touch with her. I lost my friend in the crowd, but I found the girl from my 4th grade class, and we ended up sitting together the whole year and got close again:)

Gather up your documentation (picture id, birth certificate, social security card, 2nd picture id if you have one, Bill from your current address)Make sure your transportation arrangements are sound and you know the schedules if you are riding Mass TransitGet a good night's sleepLeave Early/ Arrive EarlyKeep your eyes open and your mouth shut unless you need to speak up.  Just like in Chat Groups.. the best starting point is a lurker.  Figure out who is who, don't be afraid to take pictures.. but make it fun.. Make a point of learning all of your co-workers names the first day, and ask a couple of questions to each based on (Free Information) otherwise known as pictures on desk or what ever that gives you clues to children, interests, passions.. outside of work.  This starts building relationships.. They may try to treat you specially, but keep it as even as possible. Do not volunteer to be the office runner.. either.. establish as best as possible your equality in your work group but recognize you are still the "new person."  So, you really cannot be equal as everyone else is having to show you what to do. So, you are a burden no matter what BUT that is their job. Nevertheless, make sure that you thank them for helping you.. and your job is to not be a burden as fast as possible. The rest is up to you.
