Do you have any advice for a teen going for their first job interview in a supermarket?

Very basic: Dress neatly. Clean up. Shave (if appropriate). Minimize use of makeup/fragrance/jewelry. Arrive a few minutes early, but don’t overdo that.At the interview: Look the interviewer in the eye. Give a firm handshake on meeting. After the interview, if the interviewer’s hand is extended for another handshake: Stand first, then shake hands.Stay on topic on questions asked. Learn what will be expected of you. Stay away from asking about things like time off.Turn your cell phone off: That is, don’t even let it vibrate during the interview. You don't need that distraction. If you tell someone you have an interview scheduled, there are some that might try calling or texting you during that timeframe…turn the phone off so you don’t have to deal with that. You need to be focused on why you’re there. And, every other answer gives very good points as well.

Need help with first job interview.?

I was once a personnel manager and can say this is certainly a trying time for you. But with that said, you should research expectations of a certain company, or like company. Being overly dressed and wearing smelly cologne is a turn off. Sit up and answer the questions in a friendly and pleasant way. You are actually selling yourself. Never make an over sale; allow the hiring agent to lead you to that point. Be truthful; they will check you out. Usually they will ask neighbors, since you don't have any past job. The big thing, if you have ever been in trouble with the law, be up front. It is a violation of the law to not include you on a one-time offence, unless it is violation against a child.

I have my first job interview at Waffle House and I need advice!!!!!!?

You always want to dress clean and professional for a job interview. In this case a nice skirt and simple blouse, stockings and low heeled shoes. If you have any facial piercings, remove them all before the interview. Ask about their policy regarding this at the end of the interview.

Some other tips on interviewing:

Arrive no more then 10 minutes before your scheduled time. When you walk in ask for the person you are scheduled to see and wait patiently until called. When you are brought in for the interview, introduce yourself and shake the person's hand.

The types of questions asked during an interview can vary with the type of job. They may ask you how you handle stressful situations. How you resolve conflict either with customers or with co-workers. Be attentive and listen to the questions. Give clear and concise answers. If they ask you what days and hours you would be available, be honest. If you have school or an activity that you are involved in, tell them. Employers need to know these things up front, not after the fact. And maintain good eye contact with the person conducting the interview.

At the end of the interview they will give you an opportunity to ask your own questions. Do not immediately ask about vacation, that gives employers the wrong message. You can and should ask about expected wages and work schedules. Ask about training and advancement opportunities. Also, ask when the expect to make a decision.

Before you leave, thank the interviewer for his/her time and say that you look forward to hearing from them. A couple of days after the interview, send them a thank you note (either mailed or emailed). This is another opportunity for you to let them know that you are interested in the job. If you do not hear back from them in the time frame they gave you during the interview, call and find out the status of their decision.

Good luck. I hope this helps.

My first job interview at A&W restaurant, Need advice!?

I'm planning to dress in a white/blue striped dress shirt and blue jeans or black dress pants. This is my first job so I'm gonna be kinda nervous but have to stay sharp. What kind of questions would they ask? How should I answer them? I live in Canada by the way, if anyone can help or give any kind of advice it would be really helpful, Thanks.

Any advice for my first job interview at a cafe? I am 15 years old.

First of all, come to the interview dressed like you're ready to clock in and work. If you want to dress one step nicer, that would be okay, but don't come in wearing a suit for a cafe job. And don't wear sweats, shorts, tank tops, etc. …you aren't going to the pool, you're coming to work. If the employees all wear white dress shirts and black pants, so do you. The point is to look like you already work there.Along those lines, make sure you know as much about the business as you can. Know where you can be an asset, and what parts excite you about working there.Make sure you keep your phone, tablet, coffee cup, etc. stashed away in a bag. Put the bag at your feet. Nothing is more important than what your interviewer is saying.Arrive 10 minutes early. Take a moment in the restroom if you need to, both to check your appearance (nothing more embarrassing than finding out you have a glob of something on your face, or your hair is sticking up in a rooster tail) and to actually use the toilet. Potty dances in your chair don't give off a confident vibe! Please spit out your gum. Then take a deep breath, smile, and go nail your interview!Good luck!

Any general advice on job interviews?

I worked as a staffing manager and spent most of my days interviewing applicants. Here's my 2bits:
Bring a copy of your resume (on nice resume paper)
Dress up (A good rule of thumb is to dress a step up from what you would wear on the job.)
Be Confident (Sit up tall, good firm handshake, look your interviewer in the eye)
Be honest (it's always best to be upfront about your experience and schedule)
Have fun (Let them see you have a great personality and will work well with people, this isn't permission to crack dumb jokes or do cartoon impressions)
Practice (search 'interview questions' online and practice giving your answers with your parents or friends. Just don't sound rehearsed during the real interview)
Good Luck and brush your teeth and be on time!

First 'Real' Job Interview?

I am graduating in December, and I am starting to go on my first job interviews. I've applied for part-time jobs before, but this is my first time applying to professional jobs. Does anyone have any advice? I'd really like to have a job by the time I graduate, so I would like to make a good impression.

I have my first job interview ever tomorrow . Any tips and advice?

1. What to say? Just be truthful. If they ask a question don't beat around the bush and try to answer with confidence :)

2. What to wear? Wear casual dressy cloths. Nothing too fancy, but not just jeans and a T. Maybe just wear a pair of black/beige jeans or slacks and a dressy shirt (NOT too revealing!!!)

3. Body language? Make good eye contact so they know you're paying attention and it's a sign of respect. Sit up straight. Don't mess with your hands a lot. Like don't play with a zipper or your nails or anything. That shows signs of nervousness. Also, try not bitting on your lip.

4. What will the employer ask me? They will mainly just ask you things about yourself. And I mean, how can you go wrong? Haha!

Like I said, be truthful and try your best to not be too nervous. They expect you to be a little nervous though. I've only been on one and it wasn't as nerve racking as I thought. A lot more laid back than what it seems like before you go in.

Oh, and don't chew gum.
