Fish Are Eating Other Fishes Food

Do Goldfish eat other fish?

Yes, goldfish have a simple rule, if it fits in their mouth it might be food.

They are not really agressive and dont usually attack medium size fish, but fry or other small fish, GULP.

Small goldfish can probably live OK with platies, but it's not ideal. Also as the goldfish grows the 'fit in mouth' rule may come into effect.

My fish is eating the other fishes tail!?!?

What you have are Neon Blue Dwarf Gouramis. These fish are Omnivores and prefer both types of food. Depending on what your food is based off of, you might need to add some meat into their diet, as they might only be getting herbs.

Another problem might be plants. These fish like to be able to hide sometimes, and prefer a heavily planted tank. This could get rid of the fin nipping for sure! Also, add a small cave into the aquarium so the one who's being picked on has a place to go.

All in all, try using pellet foods as well as flakes (my gouramis like new life spectrum from petco) and make sure it's heavily planted. Also, go to Wal-Mart and get some Melafix for your Gourami's sores if he has any, that will heal pretty much overnight, it's really good stuff.

Also, don't add any more fish into your tank, because with smaller tanks (without an algae eater) if you have the 1 inch of fish/gallon usually a lot of brown algae builds up and eventually you will get an ammonia spike and your fish could die.

Do fish eat other fishes eggs?

Most fish love to eat other fish's eggs, and even their own eggs.
Fish eggs are a high-energy, high-protein food.
But Mollies don't lay eggs. They give birth to live, free-swimming young (which they may also eat).
Tiger barbs don't get pregnant, but they do lay (unfertilized) eggs.

My goldfish eats the other fishes poop.?

No fish naturally eats another's poop. Maybe it think's it's getting fish fry. Or hoping anyway.
Tropical fish (mollies) should not be kept with cold water fish (goldfish). Mollies prefer 78-82 degrees F. Goldfish prefer temps of 65 F or less. Goldfish may seem to do fine in much warmer water, but they need more oxygen, food, and bi-weekly water changes.
Mollies can be very sensitive to changes in water quality, and although they may have lived this long.
You don't mention the tank size, but goldfish can grow to over 20", and koi to over 3 feet. They are also omnivorous, and will end up eating your mollies if the tank is large enough for them to attain a decent size.
Some people aren't willing to listen to those who have researched and are experienced. I hope you aren't on of those.

My betta fish keeps eating neon tetras food?

First, the neon tetras need to be in a school of at least six, that would make them bolder. I would also do the same with the white cloud minnows.
Second, the betta is too aggressive of those little fish, plus they stress each other out so I'd put them in separate tanks.
Thirdly, white cloud minnows are cold water fish and neon tetras are tropical fish, so they too should be in separate tanks.
I would hate receiving this answer, but it is the truth.

Why are my fish eating each others tail fins?

Yea Goldfish Are Said To Eat Live Foods, Small Animals And Other Fish, Adding Worms, Brine Shrimp Or Other Treats Should Take Care Of Your Problem. You'll Need To Feed Them Twice A Day. Just Enough Food That Is Completely Eaten In Under 2 Minutes With NO Leftovers, Anything Left Over Can Lead To deadly water conditions.

Is it safe for tropical fish to eat goldfish food?

Generally, yes. Goldfish food will have a higher vegetable content and some carotenoid pigments to retain vibrant coloration, but other than that it is basically an omnivorous preparation for tropical fish in general. Barbs, Tetras, Gouramis, Bettas, all should thrive on this type of food as long as it is not the ONLY sort of food provided. All fish enjoy a diversity of food preparations, being in their best condition when provided alternately with flake, pellet, and frozen preparations.

Is carp a good fish to eat?

Eh… it depends on what you mean by “good.” I mean, they're edible. They won't poison you and you can live off of the flesh. The taste depends on what they've been eating. I've had carp out of a pond with a lot of grass at the bottom. The flesh was mild and almost sweet tasting. I've also had carp out of a river. Tasted like mud.The really annoying part of eating carp is the bones. The rib bones each fork into two or three prongs, and trying to filet them like a traditional fish cuts across the top of the fork and leaves fine, sharp bones all through the filet. Small carp can be cooked whole and then the bones eaten around, but that's almost more work than it's worth. I've also eaten carp cooked in a pressure cooked until the bones are soft and can be eastern along with the rest of the fish, but I don't recommend it. Makes good pet food though.A better idea for large carp is to work your fingers into the side of the fish and tear off chunks. This leaves the forked bones intact so they can be easily pulled out the eater. The chunks can be rubbed with salt or dipped in batter, then fried.

My fish eat my allege eaters food! help?

I started to noitice that my allege eater was chasing my other fish and I know that sometimes when they aren't getting enough to eat they will try eating the slime coat off of the fish, so I put allege wafters in the water and all my other fish eat that before my allege eater gets a chance. What can I do? Will eating that food hurt my fish?

Why does my angel fish keep eating my other fish!?

Angelfish are NOT angels.

They are a semi-agressive and predatory cichlid. Their natural food in the wild is small fish like Neon tetras.

Keep them with other fish of a similar size, smaller tankmates will get chewed up.
