IHI i am roasting turkey.. do i take off the plastic thing that holds the legs?

You don't have to take the plastic thing off but I prefer to truss with kitchen twine which is made of cotton.

less than 16 lbs = 15 min per pound
more than 16 lbs= 12 min per pound

20 min per pound will way over cook legs.

Start with turkey at room temp (1 hour on counter ready to go) otherwise time schedule does not work.

Preheat to 450 and cook at 15-20 min then reduce to 350 for the duration.

Take out at internal temp = 165(thigh and breast) and hold covered on stovetop for 20 min to final temp of 180.

I find I need to cover breast with a foil tent for the last 45 min to prevent overbrowning.

Why can't you re-freeze foods like meat?

Some packaged foods say you can't refreeze them after thawing (ex.: cheesecake, frozen fruits), and I've always heard once you thaw meat like ground beef or chicken, you can't re-freeze it.

Why? Doesn't sticking it back in the freezer kill the germs?

Would dry ice keep Popsicles frozen in a cooler at an outdoor festival?

Yes dry ice will work.. I've taken it camping with us to keep our meats frozen and usually keeps it frozen for up to 3 days. You just have to be very careful and not let kids around it.. Can be very dangerous only because if touched, it will burn you.

If you decide to use it. The best thing to do is put it at the bottom of a cooler, wrapped with newspaper, once wrapped, put a piece of cardboard on top and put your popsicles over the cardboard.. that way, leaves less room for injury..

Hope this helps :)

Can you thaw frozen spaghetti and meat sauce in a crock pot? The meat has already been cooked.?

I made spaghetti sauce with cooked ground turkey and turkey Italian sausage in it. Then I froze it. Can I stick it in a crockpot on low for 8 hours or so to thaw it?
