For Or Against Obamacare

Why are so many people against Obamacare?

I would like to understand why so many people are against Obamacare. I am guessing Obamacare could help sick people or other people with no ways to pay for health cares. So why do they wanna delay it for a year? Why not give the opportunity to everyone to have better care.
This is not a pro Obama question, I just want to understand. I'm from Europe

What is Obamacare and why are people against it?

This is what Obamacare does:
*First, it limits how insurers can spend premium dollars on profits, and if insurers use too much, they have to give some back through rebates.
*Some services will become free in all new private insurance policies, and Medicare like vaccinations and other preventive care.
*People on Medicare because they're 65+ or disabled will get help with drug costs.
*Young people can stay insured by staying on their parent's policies, until they turn 26.
*Some small businesses will get tax breaks to help pay for health insurance for their workers. *Lifetime limits on health coverage will be banned.
It will be illegal to turn down kids because they have preexisting conditions (like asthma).
*Each state will be expected to establish exchanges, which will allow health insurers to sell health care plans competitively.
*The mandate: every citizen must have health care, and if they don't they have to pay a special tax.

Why people don't like Obamacare is because people who have a high income will have to pay a higher Medicare tax, so that people who are to lazy to get a job will have healthcare. People don't like it because if someone is too lazy to earn their own money, others have to pay for their health care. And who like being told to buy something? That's what the mandate is basically telling people to do: go buy health care. Some people argue that the mandate is unconstitutional.

Also, their will be lots of taxes on various things because this health care is going to cost a lot ($938 billion approximately over the next 10 years). Their will be a new tax on insurers who offer high-end benefit plans and companies who make medical equipment and drugs. There will even be a 10% tax on tanning salons (crazy, huh?)!

Well, that's all I got. Hopes this helps.

Why are you against Obamacare?

Although it helped those with pre-existing conditions and lower income, it totally left those small businesses and individuals, like myself, in a position where we have to pay an exorbitant amount for health care. My wife and I are retired but she is only 63. I’m over 65 so Medicare has me covered. Her insurance went from $500/mo last year to $800/mo this year, $9,600 per year with a $6,000 deductible. Add the fact that our insurance company does not participate in ACA but must provide money for those companies who will lose money insuring lower income people under ACA. Does that sound like “Affordable” care? Many individuals are caught in the middle with some income that provides some discount for health insurance but with rates still out of their reach. While eating dinner at our church the 30 something gentleman eating at the table began to expound on the fact his wife’s insurance was going to be $300/mo and he couldn’t afford it, so they’re doing without. Although many lower income people were helped, those with some income, but no job related insurance, can’t afford their insurance. How this law could possibly be called the “Affordable Care Act” is beyond me.

What is so bad about Obamacare?

I am not American, but from I what I read Obamacare is just a way to improve the healthcare system and make sure everyone has access to healthcare. What is so bad about it?

Why did McCain vote against Obamacare repeal in the end?

Simple: McCain has never been a fan of the president, or the straight repeal and replace. you top it off with the fact that GOP was trying to push this through without bipartisan support and no real answer, and McCain’s thumbs down was his way of trying to force the republicans and democrats to start working together again. I believe he said as much in an interview afterward. As salty as he has become since he lost in ‘08, McCain dedicated his whole life in service of his country and has consistently said that both parties need to work together to find real solutions (or at least progress towards them) instead of simply thwarting the other party’s attempts to force legislation through. He is not in favor of Obamacare, but I think he saw the repeal as bullshit and after his diagnosis doesn’t want the last thing he does to be dismantling a healthcare plan without a solid alternative.

Will the 26 states who voted against Obamacare vote against obama?

Does that make sense?
