Simple. Because it dampens their mood when you challenge their critical thinking in one way or another and instead of exchanging opinions like smart people do, they quiver with fear and flee to their safe space.This happened to me three times now. Once I said on twitter that I don’t feel sorry for OJ Simpson because he is a criminal and most likely a murderer too who obviously doesn’t have any conscience when he releases a book like ‘(if) I DID IT’, mocking the family members of the victims that were killed. I pray for those who are innocent and deserve happiness, not for those who don’t value human life.These people hide in their echo chambers and are basically a role model for any person that like censorship and completely ignore what makes our democracies great and us people smart.
I block people because they make me want to never interact with them again.Some people follow you from answer to answer, in order to say things that will antagonize you. Sometimes, after the 6th or 7th time, I can’t take it anymore. Block!Some people can’t disagree reasonably. They resort to insults or mockery. The worst is when they distort things you’ve said and start having an argument with that imaginary version of you. Nope, not dealing with that. Block!Some people decide that they don’t like the tone of your answer. Sometimes, they don’t like your conclusion. Or they simply think that your answers are collaborative ventures between you and them. They take to rewriting your answers in edit suggestions. Nope, not having that. Block!Some people, you see them making hateful comments on other people’s answers. I’ve learned my lesson from George W. Bush: preemptive strike! Block!Call me a snowflake if you want, but I’m here because being here puts me in a better mood than not being here. I can’t directly attack people who annoy me; Quora won’t have that. So, my only option is to block, and I do so liberally.

Do you block people for no reason?
It happens.. some everybody is in basic terms block happy, do not enable it subject you. i've got in basic terms blocked one, and that i've got seen an excellent number of Q&A's consumers i did not believe. some are in basic terms stupid.
Blocking is the most selfish way to deal with conflict, especially when you do it without warning. The problem is people these days are afraid of criticism and rather block someone else in an argument then to admit their at fault and learn from their mistakes, no matter how good of a friendship they had, and this is an effective way that people protect their massive ego from being shattered. Blocking is also a commonly used as a cowardly way to end a relationship, but these days, relationships mean nothing anyways. The only circumstances that I feel blocking is right is if either if someone is harassing you without an end, or if their a threat to your life, but otherwise, if you get into an argument or disagreement, please learn to deal with it, no one is the same and if you’re stupid enough to block someone over something as small as a disagreement, then in my opinion, you deserve to be alone for the entirety of your existence.

Why do you block people?
Technically this is in the wrong section, who ever you are. I have blocked people so I didn't have to deal with them PMing me all the time. I could have closed my email but that would block everyone from contacting me. Why should I do that? Just block the ones who become really harrassing in PM's. Then there's those who will report you no matter what you post. If they aren't allowed into your questions they can't report you. Not that I object to reporting. I object to unnecessary reporting, because most of the things I have had reported have been reinstated. You can lose your account over too many reports. Right now I have exactly one person blocked. It's not something I do on a regular basis and it has nothing to do with someone elses versioin of truth.
There is always a reason .Every reasonable person knows and chooses who to relate with and vice versa. So there are chances that you are not someone who relates to ‘blocker’s’ preferences.Some people are sensitive to certain issues,differences in opinion can cause issues leading to the block.
