German shepherd still mouthing, one year old?

I had a foster in like this... 18 month old rottie male and quite honestly it bl00dy well hurt. Especially when he jumped me coming in the gate and he really did just want to play that time but he sunk his teeth into my arm badly.

It did take me about two weeks to finally stop it but I did.

I couldn't be around him without a treat and a toy to start with. I would break into work if he started as he got good at obedience bits and pieces. I also taught him to play with a tuggy toy so I would use that to give him a game and then get him to leave. It is obviously worse if ... they are over excited or they know you are about to do something they don't want you to do... such as leave the room.

Watch the body language carefully and see if you can get in before she does it. Deflect the thought into working in some way,.

I totally understand this is hard. This foster boy I had was REALLY not pleasant to have around because of it... that and he was quite happy to show me a full set of teeth right out of the blue when he thought he would be forced to do something he didn't want to do.

Wilful dogs these and learning to gain her respect is totally key.

Presume you've been through all the NILIF.. if not then look it up. No good getting hard on a tester type dog like this. They just come back harder. Holding her muzzle shut and all that will wind her up more.

Wish I could be there to help you.

My 12 year old dog has cancer, and has started drinking a large amount of water. Does anyone know the reason?

Princess is a 12 year old Australian shepherd/Akita, the best dog you could ever imagine! She isn't just a family pet she is a family member. She is my Dad's dogs puppy and I watched her be born. I know people say that their dog is like their baby, but she really is. I don't know how i'm going to deal with this, I've always said that I will not let her suffer, she already has to be on pain medication because she has hip dysplasia. We took her to the ER last weekend and then her regular vet yesterday, and her vet said it has spread to her lungs and there is nothing they can do. She has had to have a mastectomy already (3 years ago) and luckily it was benign then. I'm going to call the vet soon but I was hoping someone would know the answer to my question. She is drinking water like crazy she will drink a whole gallon at a time if I leave it down for her. Yesterday she drank so much so fast that she puked it all up, on an empty stomach. Has anyone gone through this with their dogs that have had cancer?

How much does a long haired german shepherd puppy costs?

TOO MUCH MONEY.
Please reconcider. There are so many amazing dogs out there sitting in the pound waiting to be rescued. So many are euthanized because not enough are adopting these pets.
I have a 3 year old German Shephard Mix that I got from the San Diego pound and she has been the love of my life for 2.5 years. She is healthy, intelligent, and an amazing addition to my family.
You can always try fostering first from a rescue group near you to make sure you can handle the responsibilites (if you have never had a dog). Most fosters pay you as well. Who knows maybe one of the foster dogs will be your life long companion!
All the best~

12 Week old min pin ears were standing. suddenly overnight they flopped. what is the chance of them standing ?

I see this all the time with my foster puppies. If the puppy's ears do this, it always turns out that their ears stand as adults. This is just a normal part of puppyhood. They're growing so much, sometimes the ears will be larger, and they will flop, but they grow into them.

I think it's safe to say, if they were standing, the will most likely stand when she's fully grown. I don't see any need to crop your dog's ears, unless you plan to show her. It's putting her through an unnecessary surgical procedure.
