Found A Puppy On Road Help

Found a puppy on the side of the road.?

A few days ago I found a puppy in the road and pulled over to pick him up. He was shy and ran from me at first. He was collarless and skinny. When I went to pick him up he ran onto a porch nearby and started chewing on pine needles on the porch. We decided to knock on the door and ask the pple there if the puppy was theres. There were dogs inside the house barking at us and I guess no one was home bc no one answered the door. So we decided that leaving the puppy in the road to die was not an option. We picked him up and rushed him home. He was bathed and fed. He swallowed the dog food whole without chewing and drunk water like he was determined to drown. I have never seen a dog so desperate for food or water in my life. (I've been around dogs since i was little) Well we went out and bought him a collar and toys, worm meds and food. He is roughly 6 months old and is a lemon beagle. He is also fixed (which is unusual for a dog his age) Well my question here is if someone comes knocking on my door saying he is THEIR dog and they want him back, what exactly do I do? Ask for proof? Call the cops? That puppy was in terrible condition..i cant give him up easily to some low life jerk who decided to leave him out to die!! We live in Florida and it is summer time. The heat is deathly! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time in reading this and for any opinions. (:

Found a cat on the side of the road...?

What about fostering the cat until it can be rehomed by an area shelter or cat rescue group. Ensure there's a no kill policy or it will be euthanized despite reassurances. Cat Rescues are more willing to help out if you can provide shelter for the cat. Perhaps, you can keep the stray cat separate or isolated in a spare room until she can be accepted into a program. Surely with her sweet personality she'll make the perfect pet for some lucky family, her charm will win them over.

My 4 month old puppy fell on the road!! HELP!!?

Don't worry, and your right as long as he doesn't show any life threatening signs dont tell your mom unless you want to get yelled at. Okay my firend came over with my 3 month old puppy and she dropped him not once but three times. I was stupid for not telling her she couldn't hold him but I didn't want to hurt her feelings at the time. She was above knee level an dhe dropped right onto his head. I was soo mad but mostly scared for him. After the third time I told her she could hold him while she was sitting or not at all. Back to the story, I researched and found out that puppies are very flexible and they will be okay. he might still be a little shocked so give him time to snap out of it. I hope everything turns out okay. If thats your puppt in the pic he is adorable!

I just found a couch on the side of the road and am wondering whats the best way to clean and sanitize it?

Before you pick up any couches (or any furniture) from the side of the road, you may want to consider that there is a worldwide problem now with bedbugs. These pests nestle inside the cushions, the frame, and anywhere else they can squeeze. If you still want to take the couch, I would recommend getting SteriFab to kill any pests (bedbugs, lice, roaches) that could be hiding in there - then get it steam-cleaned professionally before bringing into your house. At the cost to treat for pests, the purchase of a new couch would be cheaper.

Found stray dog threw up a few times won't eat.. HELp?

Hello Natalie

First of all thanks for caring for this little man and I hate to think how a dog can get lost on a country road somewhere - makes me wonder if he was "dumped" there (not maybe by his owners but someone else) but how lucky was he that you have rescued him - because you sound like a very good option for his future!

As for his vomiting every time he has a food change he will vomit if not done on a slow changeover basis - something to do with the stomach ph balances - plus he will refuse food that he is not used to at the beginning.

Consult with a vet (more on that shortly) but I would try him with some "bland' food and give regular small feeds rather than one or two larger ones which will help his system adjust - cooked chicken breast and some boiled rice might be a good starting point - if the vet agrees - and then you can introduce a commercial or homemade dog food.

If you go to a very good website called dog-food-aid (link below for you) you will find out about what the good food styles are in kibble, canned, information on homemade, plus what ingredients to avoid. There is also a food changeover guide.

In the Medical Assist section you will find information on online vets which is a very cost effective way of getting professional advice if you have problems getting to a vet.

If he vomits too much he will dehydrate himself so keep plenty of water in front of him and really a visit to a vet will determine how he is going hydration wise.

Scratching could be that he has come into contact with something he is allergic to - or even the food he was being given prior to your finding him. Look in the hypoallergenic dog food section of dog-food-aid for more information .

I hope this has been of help and I also hope he gets to stay with you - as his forever home.

Good luck and the website link follows.
