Fractured Foot How Long Till It Heals

How long does it take a fractured foot to completely heal?

fracture take 8 wks to heal, no less, so you may have gotten confused by what they did or what they told you;; a lot of people feel when the brace comes off, that they are "healed", or when they xray you & the doc says you're healing nicely, that you're all done;; takes 8wks & no rushing it, but you CAN delay the process;; if you still have your crutches, try going back to them & progressing your weight bearing tolerance;; just cuz your "healed" does not mean that the leg is ready to go & behave normally;; you still have excess scar tissue to defray (causes "stiffenss" or incomplete range to the foot);; then the foot actually needs to BUILD it's weight-bearing ability, along with the muscle strength;; so what you're feeling is normal, it's also normal to have a slight to minimal increase in symptoms because of these changes that you have now introduced to the ankle;; remember it's been out of sink for 2months;; it's a lot weaker;; progression is the key & if you're not too sure about what you should do, try PT;; get your doc to hook you up & ask a lot of questions so that you can take over the continued care/rehab...good luck!! but your rehab will be a lot shorter if ya get hooked up with a professional, cuz it's really not just common sense, & it's really not all about pain...

So how long does it take a fractured foot to heal?

you broken your METATARSALS (there are 5--one for each toe--imagine that!).

You only need the boot to walk--not 24/7.
It will take about 3-4 weeks, if you are lucky.

Can you walk on a fractured foot?

Yep, but avoid it if possible. I once fractured my foot while hiking through a forest with only my two dogs for company. This happened in the days before cell phones. My foot slipped off a mossy rock and I heard a “snap”, like stepping on a twig. My foot immediately started to swell. My dogs were of no help (where’s Lassie when you need her?). In fact, they continued to romp happily, oblivious to my situation. I walked about 1/2 mile to my car, drove my dogs home, then drove myself to the hospital. Driving was a little tricky, since I had broken my “pedal foot.” Thankfully, my dogs were not traumatized by the event.

How long does it take for a comminuted fracture to heal?

Specifically if said fracture is in you arm?
I need to know for a story I'm writing, but for whatever reason googling is proving ineffective. Though that could be because I'm sleep deprived...
Anyway, does anyone know?

How long does it take for the swelling of a foot fracture to go down? I'm 4 days after and it is still swollen.

Generally and absolutely scientifically, if you had a fracture in your lower limb ( either foot or tibia ) one can see his foot swollen even after 6 months. That is how our body reacts. The swelling depend on:How long you are standing upright. For example if you have a tough day, walking around for many hours you can see swelling this day. Another day you will see no swelling if you stay at home and not walking or standing upright. That means that swelling depends on your posture and long-term standing upright. That’s why some day you will notice swelling and some days not.The only thing you can do is reducing the hours of walking or standing upright in the first months and when you are at home elevate and put ice on your lower limb.Beware if excessive swelling is present or pain is present In this case you have to exclude a possible non-union of the fracture or even a deep vein thrombosis.Visit our site and if you have more questions you can e-mail us. https://www.id-orthopaedics.com/

How long to partially heal a boxer's fracture (broken hand)?

You shouldn't be in such a contact sport with no insurance. Are you sure the league you play in didn't take out insurance on you? My dad was an umpire for baseball, and my brother played it a lot, and they both received benefits for automatic insurance they paid for to join the league.

I have no idea how much the ER in NY is, but I do know that they forgive or help for people whose income doesn't cover such medical care.

This sounds like a fracture my brother got when he fell on the bball court and a 300 lb gorilla stepped on his hand. They tried a cast for a while, but it wouldn't heal properly. He had to have surgery to pin it in place. LOL we have SO many people in our family with metal holding them together!! Esp my bike riding son who didn't see a car coming--Tons of titanium to restructure his skull, $45,000 altogether. We paid $5-6000.

Is your hand in a cast? I'd say 4-5 weeks you can do light activities, but NOTHING that hurts, twinges or anything else.

Take care and get better!

How long does it take for a cat's bone to heal? details of the fracture given..?

Unless the fracture is stabilized, like with surgery, they take a very long time to heal. And when they do heal, they are usually crooked. The reason is that the new bone can't easily bridge the gap unless the gap is very tiny and the bones aren't moving around.

Oblique fractures tend to slide around a lot, so I'm really surprised that the vet has not done anything to stabilize the fracture already. Reading this report, I can't see any way you should expect this fracture to heal well without doing anything to fix it. Perhaps in another couple of months if you leave it be, the bone will be solid and the leg will be permanently crooked and shortened, leaving a permanent mild limp.

Sadly, a splint or a cast will not fix a femur fracture. Casts only work when they can be applied over the joint above and below the area of a break. In this case, to stabilize both broken pieces of the bone. It's easy enough to cast over the knee and keep the lower bone piece from moving, but you can't cast over the hip to keep the upper bone from moving. So it's got to be fixed with a bone pin, bone plate or an external fixator. If your vet suggests casting it, run to another vet. Seriously. A cast will only make it worse.

Once it's stabilized, it should take 4-8 weeks to heal so that there is no more fracture on the X-ray. But with a surgical fixation, animal are usually able to walk on the leg within a few days. They will usually limp slightly until the surgery wound heals, but they walk much faster than those who have a cast placed.

How long does it take for an acute sesamoid fracture to heal?

Go and see a podiatrist when you get a chance. My recommendations for you is I treat these with a walking boot and a bone stimulator. These small bones are very difficult to heal and often take a long time to heal. A bone stimulator will help a lot and also getting fitted with an orthotic to off-weight the area also helps. Most of these people get better in 6-8 wks. It does take a long time, but you'll get better. Hope this helps!
