Fractured Tailbone For A Decade

Could my tailbone be dislocated if it is not that sore?

Yes, your tailbone could be dislocated without being sore or painful. Case in point, my hip bone was rotated in the socket for decades. NO pain. However, I had poor hip control with that leg. I noticed it most while skiing. I thought it was simply an oddity, until I went to a Stress Release practitioner because I had upper back discomfort. I had many chiropractic visits over the years to remedy the upper back misalignment, but wasn’t told it was due to the hip bone being rotated. After the three Stress Release adjustments, the upper back issue is gone and the hip action while skiing is improved. My humble opinion, see a chiropractor to have your tail bone accessed. I would recommend a Stress Release practitioner, however, there are few in the U.S.I am here only to be truly helpful. If you have any questions, contact me.

Why does my tailbone hurt?

did you fall on your butt?
here may be some reasons:

Coccydynia
(Tailbone Pain)

What causes coccydynia?

Coccydynia is often caused by an injury, but it may occur seemingly spontaneously. There are many causes of tailbone pain which can mimic coccydynia, including sciatica, infection, pilonidal cysts, and fractured bone.

Bruised or fractured tailbone?

7 days ago I was ice-skating and fell hard on my tailbone. It still very much hurts, but mostly just sitting or when bending over. I can tolerate the pain enough to not take pain killers. How do I know if it's just bruised or if it's actually got a small fracture? I don't want some doctor sticking his finger up there to check. Also, I work in an office and sit at the computer 8 hours a day. I know this is not helping because I am constantly sitting on it. I do however, wrap my scarf into a donut to help relieve the pressure of sitting. By working like this, am I just slowing the recovery down?

Broken Tailbone?

On my last snowboarding run of the day my board slipped out from me on ice and I landed on my tailbone. I heard/felt something crack, but I guess it could've been like cracking your knuckles? It was excruciating at the time and my tail bone is still in alot of pain. its uncomfortable even when Im not sitting or moving. its painful to sit, stand, bend over, walk, etc... three hours after it and I already had dark purple bruising.

I was just wondering if there is any reason I should see a doctor? A friend of mine said she broke hers and she had to let time heal it. Its been 3 days and it hasn't felt any better, is the best thing to do is to just take it easy and let time heal it?

Is my tailbone broken or bruised?

I had a bad snow boarding accident where I fell backwards hit my butt and then hit my head and got a concussion. Idk if my tailbone is broke it bruised but it hurt to sit down and stand up as well as when I sneeze

What are my options? I injured my tailbone in a fall at work. I reported it and filed an accident report. I also went to a doctor's office and she X-rayed it and found no fractures or breaks. 6 months later it still hurts.

A Dr’s office X-Ray machine is less powerful than a hospitals, AND gets read by a RADIOLOGIST, now you need a CAT Scan or MRI.Decades ago I had a broken ankle, and got x-rayed at the company Dr’s office, found nothing.Such pain I went to a local Hosp ER, the X-Rays showed a definite broken ankle.Found out the Dr’s office X-Ray machine was seriously under powered to the point of it’s X-Rays were undependable.

Anyone else ever injured their tailbone?

I injured mine while go karting. Someone slammed into me which jolted me in the seat. I didn't totally feel it at the time, it wasn't until later when I sat down, then tried to stand back up, that I realized I hurt my tailbone.

Anyways, that was 3 mos ago and it still hurts EVERY time I stand up. Aleve has helped a little. I didn't go see a doc. today, it felt like my tailbone popped.

So now for the question... how did you injure your tailbone? How long did it take to fully heal? Have you ever needed surgery to fix your tailbone?

Any other info you can provide would sure be helpful. Thanks.

Why does my tailbone hurt when I do situps?

I am not 100% sure without a video or picture, but from seeing so many people doing, it could be that you are putting stress on the tailbone. It becomes the focus when you are doing your sit up.The same could be felt for doing the following. Try to place your elbow on the wall and continue to push towards. This point is not the focus and pressure is only on this area.Try using a yoga mat to spread the pressure and as a form of cushion.

How do i know the difference between a bruised tailbone and a broken tailbone?

A broken tailbone will give you:
Pain that increases with sitting or getting up from a chair
Pain that increases during a bowel movement
Bruising or swelling
Tenderness over the tailbone

With a bruised tailbone:
You probably won't notice the pain from a bruised coccyx until the next day as well. A bruised bone is similar to bruised tissue. The initial shock is painful, but the area doesn't become tender until the bruise actually forms.
Sitting down with a bruised coccyx bone won't be as painful as you expect. Getting up, however, will be excruciating. Sharp pains will assault your tailbone and your lower spine. This is because your tailbone shifts when you stand up. A lot of pressure is exerted on your coccyx bone to support your weight while standing. This is the same as pressing a bruise on your skin.
