Friend Zoning And Flirting How To Differ

Girls how long does it take you to friend zone a guy?

Okay so the question is based off the title. There is this girl that I have seen for about three months we talk, but not too deep. I think she is really attractive but been to scared to ask her out since I am scared of embarrassing my self for most, embarrassing her, or getting laughed at by the people behind me (she works at the place I see her). Normally I tend to be very goofy and funny, but when I am with her I just can't seem to say much (the thing is I tend to be more of the quiet type when I am not goofing around). My thing is I am pretty sure she probably would have put me in the friend zone already since I haven't flirted with her or even asked her out. I want to do it, but just can't seem to find the courage to do it. Right now the reason I use to talk myself out of asking her out is that she put me in the friend zone.

Why am I always friend zoned? (I'm a girl)?

Arrghh this always happens to me. I don't know why.
(I'm a 17 year old female)
I've been questioning this for a while, and I need some answers. I'm not the super skinny, shy, giggly, ditzy kind of girl. I'm witty, sometimes loud, I speak my mind ((in the right circumstances, of course)), I'm friendly and open, I don't gossip/of the like and I'm interested in things like philosophy and art history, that given, I'm not a tomboy either. I don't get it. All the guys like the carbon copies that laugh at every opportunity given (what the actual heck?) and they're the 2D kind of girls, not very layered. I'm not trying to bash girls like this but why are most males attracted to those kind of girls? Every guy that I may have liked a little went for the beautiful but shallow girl :-/
What am I doing wrong?
I admit, I don't flirt too often because thats not really my forte. I've been told my personality is like Jess from New Girl, if that helps.
Do I intimidate boys?

Is there a difference between texting "hi" and texting "hey"?

I was just wondering, because my friend thinks there is. I'm not sure. If it's flirting or not. I have texted this guy hey and he texted hey so is there a difference?

Why do i always get friend zoned?

Here are some things I noticed about some guys in the dreaded friend-zone. Sometimes, they are very talkative and open about their personal life. They do this whole "woe is me" routine on their social networking sites and talk about how pitiful their life is. Most girls aren't attracted to that. It's perfectly ok to do it here, but make sure your facebook wall isn't covered with posts like this. Also, girls are attracted to guys with confidence. But to get your confidence up, you need to know that you are capable of getting a quality girlfriend. But to get this quality girl you need confidence. It's a vicious cycle. Almost as bad as getting a job to get experience, but needing experience to get a job. You may not be doing anything wrong at all. You're definitely not forever cursed though.
