Fringe Heroes Or Stargate Atlantis

Now that Caprica and Stargate are cancelled, what similar TV shows and movies are there to watch?

If you didn't already watch it, check out Terminator:  The Sarah Connor Chronicles on DVD (or Netflix). It only got two seasons, though.Another one that's over now, but available on DVD (and Netflix!) is Firefly. For things still on the air, I'd recommend you check out The Event, the always-reliable Doctor Who, and -- depending on your taste in sci-fi, since some people like it and some don't -- V.  And also give Torchwood a look, and seriously do check out The Walking Dead because it's incredible. For films, one to consider that you might not have seen is Riverworld. There was a single pilot made, and then a few years later they released a movie meant to start the show attempt over. But it never took off, despite being a really weird and original premise. And if you haven't seen the film Moon yet (staring Sam Rockwell) then you really need to see it (it's on DVD and Netflix!).In case you didn't ever watch the aforementioned show Firefly, there was later theatrical film released to tie up most of the loose ends -- Serenity, and it's great.Lastly, for another really original and cutting edge sci-fi/fantasy tale, watch The Fountain. It gets a lot of negative comments, but it's brilliant and beautiful and incredibly human. If I can think of some more, I'll come back and add them as well.

What are the best TV series with strong female characters involved i.e. CIA/Spies, FBI, and the cops?

First off, I think you mean "involved in the CIA/Spies..." 'I.e.' is the abbreviation of the Latin, 'id est,' literally meaning 'it is,' taken to mean 'in other words.' (What you probably meant was 'e.g.' but that doesn't make grammatical sense either [Latin: 'exepli gratia;' literally 'for example's sake;' taken to mean 'for example']. Yes, I'm a fucking grammar Nazi, deal with it.I can't tell you the best because I haven't seen all of them. Really, I don't watch cop shows of my own volition. But my mom loves them. But here's a few good ones.Law and Order: SVU [Special Victims Unit]Like most/all L&O shows, this is a more realistic and grim look at real-world crime. SVU cases are largely about sexual crimes, so beware of the content (involves rape, sexual harassment, and even crimes involving children). One of the lead detectives of the show, Olivia, is a very strong character who, I believe, becomes the head of the unit at some point.BonesBones is a brilliant scientist who helps the FBI with cases where the majority of the evidence is gone, and only bones or highly-decomposed corpses remain. She's extremely intelligent, but a bit lacking in social skills or emotional understanding. She's pretty tough, getting involved in firefights, life-and-death situations, and more, despite not having proper training for any of it.Stargate [SG-1 and Atlantis]Not a crime show, and not really a spy show either, but the events are top-secret. Stargate is a SyFy show involving devices that can create stable wormholes between two of themselves (stargates), allowing for near-instantaneous travel across the galaxy, even between galaxies. Major Samantha Carter is a lead protagonist on the SG-1 show, and she's very tough and very smart (smarter than two of her teammates, and as smart as the fourth). Lots of action, a good helping of espionage and the like, and plenty of politicking when they have to tell some of the other countries about the stargate program (it's based in America). In Atlantis, she's absent for a while (the slack is picked up by Teyla and Dr. Weir), but eventually returns as a Colonel and heads the Atlantis base in the Pegasus Galaxy. There was another series of Stargate, Stargate Universe, but I haven't seen it, so I can't really comment.Hope this helps expand your horizons!

Was fringe cancelled or did they close up the series?

I want to watch it on netflix but don't want to start if there are lose ties that they didn't finish.
So, did the show get cancelled or was it a planned ending?

Is there any good sci fi/ horror tv series im missing?

Basically i watch a lot of sci fi/ horror shows online (most of them aren't on tv anymore except for defiance) I don't watch general tv because i cant stand soaps or reality shows so in my spare time I watch a lot of series but i feel like ive watched everything I enjoy and struggle to find something to watch. I'll give a list of the stuff i like enjoy so if you have an idea of what I might enjoy of have to watch let me know
Stargate (sg1, atlantis and universe)
fear itself
masters of horror
american horror story, sliders, x-files, the outer limits, fringe (got bored of this) 11th hour, red dwarf, life on mars, jericho, twilight zone, walking dead, smallville, grimm, star trek (all of them), quantum leap

Theres more but i'll have to list them later - i know about warehouse 13 and firefly but I'm not sure i'd enjoy them - watched an episode of each but i was told i should give firefly a chance, however i get sick of getting into shows that have been cancelled or that are going to be cancelled, i was pretty gutted about the end of the stargate franchise.
Also incase anyone mentions alphas, lost or heroes ive watched them but didnt really like them that much. I especially love anthology series like masters of horror, outer limits which a different things every show, and i love shows/films like sliders that present different realities - also ive watched supernatural and buffy and all that as well, i guess a lot of this is supernatural as well as sci fi/horror but you get what i mean

anyway any advice on what i should be watching is appreciated - have to say im looking forward to under the dome tv series as i loved the book

Ive just finished watching charmed, what should i watch now?

Buffy the Vampire Slayer (7 seasons all on DVD) is obviously about vampires, supernatural stuff, and her best friend becomes a witch during the show. Angel (5 seasons, all on DVD) is a spin-off of Buffy that takes place after season 3 (Angel season 1 runs w/ Buffy season 4, Angel S2, Buffy S5, etc) These 2 shows were created by Joss Whedon (a marvelously awesome man, I must say). His other shows include: Firefly (a space SciFi series taking place in the future. I love space shows & this one, as far as the way "The future will be" is most unique) it lasted one season, on DVD. His latest show Dollhouse ran for 2 seasons, the 1st on DVD, 2nd not released yet, is about a group of individuals who contract with a company to be reprogrammed into differnet scenarios for those that pay big bucks for it. Then there is JJ Abrams: Alias ran for 5 seasons, very edge of your seat w/ a pretty crazy cliffhanger on each episode (all on DVD) about CIA black ops, double agents, etc. Lost is a really very weird show w/ alternate timelines & SciFI elements throughout, in its 6th season on ABC, the 1st 5 on DVD. for SciFi fanatics Star Trek series' are either all or nothing it seems, but if you;re going to watch, I recommend Deep Space Nine & Voyager. JJ Abrams also is on the 2nd season of Fringe (Thursday FOX after "Bones" - another awesome show) Fringe is somewhat X-FIles but, in my opinion better. the science behind a lot of theoretical ideas seem to show a somewhat more realistic approach, also very edge of the seat. Bones is more centered around the crime drama, but again, in my opinion, varies greatly from CSI, Law&Order, all the rest. The humor far exceeds the other, so do the stories, & it shows a very different approach of crime-solving. Vampire Diaries is a good pick, but I am a loyal Joss Whedon fan & its Buffy/angel all the way for me. (vampire diaries is more 90210 if they were vampires) You might check out Stargate franchise (insanely different approach to "traveling to the stars") but start w/ the movie if you do the SG1, Atlantis, then Universe. This summer Warehouse 13 returns for its 2nd season, about a warehouse that houses all the mystical instruments used in the past like Edgar Allen poe's quill & paper, Alice in Wonderland's mirror, etc. SORRY IF THIS WAS TOO LONG & HOPE IT HELPS !!!

I have already seen all the Star Treks, Stargates, Farscape, I am in the process of watching Eureka, and BattleStar Gallactica. What other good sci-fi shows might I enjoy?

Would you be interested in hard sci-fi? If so, I recommend Person of Interest. It's a bit of a slow burn though. The sci-fi elements build gradually season by season (it starts out as a procedural with a "gimmick") but by the time you get to the end of the third one, it's become the most thought-provoking hard scifi show on TV.It's an investment because it's 22 episodes per season with a lot of filler procedural stories (for most of the 1st season, an even hand in the second season, and slowly petering out, though never going away, by the third). As far as I'm concerned it's worth it. It's my absolute favorite show right now.But if you're not into that sort of show (as your list seems to indicate): I think Continuum is good; Alphas was entertaining for the most part; Roswell gets a lot of flak for being a teen soap opera but I really enjoyed it (and it's got aliens w/c a lot of shows on your list have);ditto on The X-Files along with a heaping of conspiracy theories;I never really got into Andromeda but it's in line with Farscape;Warehouse 13 goes well with Eureka (I'm fairly certain Fargo actually did a xover with W13 and Saul Rubinek is a regular on it, hehe);Firefly is excellent for characterization and found family themes the way the Stargate series was (and humor!), no aliens though;Misfits is a really fun show about a group of 20-somethings receiving powers and basically eschewing the whole "with power comes responsibility thing", they're delinquents more annoyed by the development than anything else;and a lot of people seem to like Defiance, though I haven't a clue what that's about. There are plenty more but I'll leave you with those for now. On an unrelated note... Excellent choice in shows, btw. One of my all time favorite shows is SG1, I really liked Atlantis, and consider Eureka to be one of the most consistently fun shows around (when it was around anyway). And, of course, the BSG remake was brilliant. Mostly.
