From Dream To Reality How To Succeed In Business In Three

What are the key personal traits of a successful entrepreneur?

1. The ability to compromise.
You have to be able to appreciate many different points of view. A customer demand, for example might seem unreasonable, but by accomodating a point of view unlike your own, might bring an insight that benifits your company. I have a saying: In the Art of Compromise, 75+75=100.

2. You need to take a long view.
Seeing how something benefits you in the short term without considering the long term effects will result in missed opportunities. I had a nasty difficulty in a construction contract where I could have justifiably sued the other party. I instead negotiated a less than ideal settlement, but instead preserved my business realationship which continues to bring profitable business.

3. Confidence
If you expect others to believe in you, you must believe in yourself.

4. Knowledge
Knowledge is a lifelong quest. Observe. Read and do research. Take school and on-the-job training

5. Organization
For a company to grow, the people involved have to be organized. Clutter adds stress and hazards. Have a plan and communicate it to others.

6. Integrity
A most misunderstood concept. I define it as a combination of Attitude, Honesty, Character, and Compassion. It is a relationship you have with yourself that keeps your "self" intact and uncorrupted.

7. Service.
Sharing your succes and knowledge with others by mentoring. Giving of your time and money to your family and community.

What's the key to success in running a business?

In thinking about this question for more three decades and considering the hundreds of answers I’ve heard, and what I learned as a result of some fabulous successes and every more fabulous (and more plentiful) failures, I can share three ideas:Answer 1: Work. Success in business is rather simple, though it is tedious, exhausting, taxing, and exhilarating all at the same time. The key is work, work, and work. The more you work, the better the chances of business success.Answer 2: Be better. Don’t strategize. Don’t theorize. Don’t make excuses. Don’t wait. Market better, sell better, service better, deliver better, pricing better, cost control better. Just be better at everything if you want your business to succeed.Answer: 3: Gain Leverage. In 4,600 years of written history and a planet of 7.7 billion people, someone has solved 99.99% of the problems you are trying to solve. You have a choice, attempt to invent your own solution and run a high risk failure or sub-optimal outcomes, or leverage the lessons and learning of others, and achieve success faster, bigger and with less risk. To be successful in business, learn and leverage the knowledge of others.

What kind of people will not succeed in life?

Those who think a lot. Those who plan a lot. Those who live in past. Those who avoid present and build castle in air. Those who think they have time. Those who think NO WORRY NEXT TIME.Those who don't dare to dream big. Those who don't dare to explain. Those who don't clear their doubt. Those who TALK the TALK but don't WALK the TALK.Those who think stay nice all the time. Those who stuck on to something and don't know to move on.You are living to the same place from years.Continuing your job even you don't want to work there for a second.Staying in a relationship which causing more pain than pleasure.Working things to impress others.Thinking about a person day and night instead focusing on carrier.Checking phone every five minutes to see whether she or he is online or what.Checking out each and every girls on street.Day dreaming but doing nothing.Staying in bed even after you wake up.Loving someone and expecting the same in return. And if things are not going as per your expectation then blaming whole world. You think if you can do this after 50s then you ask from from your future wife, you can do or not and then you will realize how pathetic you will become in coming years. You have no purpose. You are constantly blaming other people and circumstances for your condition.Getting offended by everyone's opinion about you.Getting into argument even if it is no where related to your life.Talking about masterbation and discussing whether it's good or bad.Doing things to garner sympathy and attention.Your very ownSachinJai Hind

Is my dream of wanting to become an actress stupid to pursue?

I am a nursing student at a 4 yr university. I'll be finishing that up for that will be my back up job. I really want to pursue acting...its been a passion of mine since junior high. In highschool, I was in a couple of theatre plays and my instructor has always said I was a natural. I'm not gorgeous but most people say I'm vivacious...I'm asian. I've told my parents and they are very supportive as long as I finish school. What do u think?

The myth of meritocracy. Is the "American Dream" really just a myth?

No, it is not a myth. I have seen the American dream up close and personal. From immigrants to the best Manhattan address, several homes and personal jet in three generations. Lots of hard work and talent are involved but it happens all the time.

Look around, how many people do you know who come from humble beginnings but are living very well?

What are your top 5 tips for success?

You must first define what success really means to you. It can be any combination of education, growth, social welfare, power, satisfaction, learning, family, money, wealth etc. Once you have a personalized aim, then make efforts to achieve it. Your heart will lead you to it. Just follow it.In the process, don’t compare yourself with others, because your goal can be very different from others. So, the path that leads you to that goal can be different. People follow different paths and therefore their experiences are going to be different. Comparing your own experiences with others’ is therefore meaningless.Be open to learning and change. Don’t be the slave of your goal. Own your goal. Feel free to change it, whenever you feel the need to.Also, evaluate the path you take and be prepared to change it if needed.I feel you can keep these things in mind while deciding your goals and paths (you may choose not to follow them if you wish):Always remember that life is finite and you will not be afraid of taking bold decisions.Have social welfare as one of the major components of your goal. This will add a lot of meaning and value to your goal.Respect all lives. Offer your best services. This will be a big source of happiness.Respect your assets. That includes your body, your mind, your family and friends, the environment. Make efforts to keep them healthy. To conclude, having the right goal and following the right path to achieve it is success. You are free to start with any goal and path, but keep updating it with your experience and wisdom to achieve the right one.
