From Each Set What Names Do You Like Best

Which male rhyming names do you like best?

Which name do you like best from each set? (If you hate all of them, pick the one that's not as bad)
You can change the spellings if you prefer a different one.
(*all of these names rhyme in my accent. If they don't rhyme for you, that's okay, just pick your fav anyway)

Devon, Evan, Bevan, Kevin, Nevin
Jim, Tim, Kim
Bill, Will, Phil
Keane, Gene, Dean
Shea, Ray, Jay, Trey
Finn, Flynn, Quinn, Vin
Corey, Rory, Tory
Marek, Eric, Derek
Tyson, Brycen, Kyson
Gordon, Jordan, Riordan

Which name do you prefer from each set?

1. Florence Ida Charlotte
Reason: It sounds much lighter and more elegant than Florence Adela Blythe, which reminds me of heavy, dusty flowered curtains.
2. Alice Flora Vivienne
Rolls off the tongue much nicer
3. Ottilie Vivian Alice
The names just "klicked" for me ;)
4. Viola Lucy Margot
I feel like Viola Poppy Delphine is a bit too cutesy and flowery, while this one is more of a classic beauty. I like both, though.
5. Jemima Ophelie Grace
Again, hard to choose. This one sounds a bit lighter and more elegant than Jemima Poppy Alice.
6. Beatrix Emilia Margot
It was between this and Beatrix Amalia Violet. However, this one is simply stunning.
7. Vera Ottilie Grace
Wonderfully delicate.
8. Octavia Poppy Louise ~ Octavia Lucy Pearl
Honestly, I can't decide between the two. While I adore the Lucy Pearl part more than Poppy Louise, I think Octavia Poppy Louise has the slightly better flow. I think Octavia Lucy Pearl still wins since it's so adorably vintage (as are, actually, all of your combos.)
9. Eloise Thea Maeve
I think neither one has a perfect flow, since the TH of Thea clashes with the S ending of Eloise, and so does the "SSI" part in Cassia. This one seemed nonetheless more like a entity, while Eloise Cassia Adele just looked like random names put together.
10. Susanna Lucy Adele
They are all so lovely! Briony is one of my personal favorites, so I'm a bit biased. However, this combo flows the best in my opinion, so it's the winner =)
11. Iris Ophelia Jane
A tad bit more quirky, which I love :)
12. Clementine Ivy Lucille
It just is more memorable than the other one, imo.
13. Imogen Lucy Margot
I do love the name Pandora in the other combo, however, this flows so much better!

BQ: Gosh, I have such a hard time deciding. Did I mention that I love your naming style already? ;)

Faves: Beatrix Emilia Margot, Florence Ida Charlotte, Iris Ophelia Jane (in this order)
Least faves: Clementine Ivy Lucille, Imogen Lucy Margot, Eloise Thea Maeve

Hope this helps narrowing things down =)

Which female rhyming names do you like best?

Hmm...
Adele - such a beautiful name, that feels really poetic and sensual. I love Adele.

Jess - It's the best name out of those three choices. Bess (well Bessie) was my old dog's name and even though I loved her I couldn't imagine the name on a human and Tess seems rather tiresome.

Erin - This name is a gorgeous feminine Irish classic, that literally means 'Ireland' I adore the whole feel of Erin it's very cute.

Layla - This is my favourite however I really dislike that spelling. To me doesn't look or feel authentic. I love Leila which looks classy and authentic, Leila is stunning compared to Layla.

Quinn - Even though I'm not a unisex name kind of person. I prefer names that are designed for girls like for instance 'Victoria' and names designed for boy's like for instance 'Benjamin'. Even though Quinn doesn't fit that style I think the name is great.

Lacey - It's the best however I really dislike the name.

Annette - I think Annette is rather classy, she has a really elegant sound and looks very cute. Also I like the nickname Annie.

Clarissa - My best friend has this name and I love her so of course this is my favourite!

Zara - Tough choice between the three as they are all beautiful. Mara has this really lovely Germanic feel to the name and sounds really sweet, whereas Lara has a lot of soul and feels very wholesome, however Zara has a taste of Europe and is very sweet, she's soulful - basically the whole package.

Lina - I think this is my favourite, because Lina looks attractive.

Callie - She's really cute, and easy to use name. Furthermore she means 'beauty' which is generally a great meaning.

Hope this helped x

Which pair of twin girl names do you like better?

Of your two pairs, I prefer Cecily and Carys. While they both start with C, the C's make different sounds, so they don't seem "matchy" at all. Despite Cecily's Victorian popularity, both names have a modern, spunky sort of feel.

I love the name Adelaide -- it's actually my favorite of all those on your list. It's very uncommon, but it's similar enough in sound to the popular Addison, Adeline, and Madeline to sound cute even to those who like trendy names. While Florence IS a nice match because of the city connection, I don't think it would fare as well today. It will sound like an "old lady" name to most people, and, as someone pointed out, it doesn't lend itself to cute nicknames. Flora is probably the best (certainly better than Florie or Flo), but it seems like a completely different name.

I was actually going to suggest Adelaide and Charlotte (it's a pairing on my twin name list), but coolteamblt beat me to it, so I'll just second her suggestion! You might also want to consider Adelaide and Cecily as a match, as Irish Mommy suggested, because of their 19th-century feel. If you like geographical names, you might consider Adelaide and Sicily as a pairing.

Which of these rhyming names (girls) do you like best?

Jane
Liana (Leanna/Lyanna) - Deanna's nice too, but I pronounce it dee-AH-na
Clara - but I pronounce Cara, Tara, and Clara like AH-ra, Sarah like AIR-ra, and Farrah like Ă-ra
Connie
Lilah - but only spelt Lila
Carrie - but I pronounce it KĂ-ree, Mary MAIR-ree, and Sherry SHEH-ree
Holly - not a fan of any of them
Darlene - because I love the similar name Darla!
Darla - speak of the devil!
Cheryl - I pronounce Carol differently than the rest (Ă-r'l as opposed to EH-r'l)
Mia

When I pointed out the different pronunciations, I'm not saying they're the only ones. I'm just saying that's how they are here :)

Do Russians have really limited set of first names?

Technically, the Russians have plenty of names. This is a photo from the appendix to The Orphograpfical Dictitonary of Russian Language published 1988. These are 2 of 6 pages for the list of male names followed by a rather big list of female names. But in fact there really exists a strict limit. The limit is not set by any governmental or religious restrictions. Rather, it exists in our minds. There is something in our heads which divides all the availiable options into 1. Ridiculous names which are too exotic, 2. Ridiculous names which are too archaic and 3. Normal names. If you give your kid an exotic or an archaic name, he or she will have hard time in school and possibly hard time with registry office workers who make spelling mistakes in rare names. I’ve had hard time in school with my name being constantly mocked. My mother and aunt had hard time with their rare patronymic name constantly misspelt in important papers. It’s true that there is a list of church names. It’s rather large but most names from it are generally considered ridiculous. Among my ancestors there were people with such name as Avtonom, Guriy, Kondratiy, Afanasiy. Nowadays these names are extremely rare. I have never met any man with such any of those names. Some people choose rare or foreign names for their kids, especially girls’ names Vanessa, Syuzanna, Marianna, Anzhelika. Also, the number of kids with such names as Rodion, Timofey, Eduard etc is gradually growing. On the other hand, there is a little number of names which are etremely popular. The number of those so called normal names is about 20 male and 20 female names. I have a friendlist of less than 200 people, and still there are 3 Yekaterinas, 6 Annas, 6 Sergeys and 10 Alexandrs on it.PS. Still the number of kids with rare names is growing, so in 25 or 30 years we might have a completely different situation. There is a popular joke on the web which saysВышел на улицу погулять с сыном. Дети вокруг: Афродита, Дионис, Елисей, Беладонна, Аэлита. И только я один, как дурак, вывел гулять Сережу.I went for a walk with my son. The kids around us are Afrodita, Dionis, Yelisey, Beladonna, Aelita. And I am the only fool who walks with Seryozha (Sergey). This might only be a joke, but it tells something about the way our parents named us and the way we name our kids.

Name one thing if you received right now you feel you would be set for life?

What kind of question is this? The answer is obvious to any working adult: FIFTY MILLION DOLLARS. I could use that money to:Put the best Primary Care Physician (and his/her medical staff) in my town, on my payroll.Put the best money managers, on my payroll.Set up conservative, capital-preserving investments, and live off the interest only.Hire 2 top-shelf female sex workers, give them combat training, so they can be my bodyguard-slash-escorts.Buy a few lobbyists, a Congressman, and a Senator (I understand that the Republicans have a nice 2-for-1 deal).Put my kids in the best school, each kid with their own private security.Several other things.Yeah… I could make $50MIL really work for me, and I’d be set for life. But Sean, why are you even asking this question? Are you trying to make people fantasize briefly, then have us immediately break down crying in sadness (because our real lives are complete dumpster fires)?(Everyone: Please upvote my answer if you agree with - or appreciate - it. Thanks!)
