Fuel Pump Costantly Running

My A/C condensate pump is constantly running and the tank fills up quickly....?

We have a Liberty Pumps condensate pump next to our a/c unit downstairs. For the past few days it has been running constantly. It will turn on, stay on for a few seconds, turn off, and turn on again....all day long. We have cleaned the pump out already and it is still doing it. Last night we checked the pump again and it was full of water. We emptied it, put it back together and it was fine. Until about an hour later when i went to check it again. It was doing the same thing! When I watch the water try to exit the hose when the pump kicks on, the water goes up the hose, but comes right back down after reaching the ceiling point of the hose it seems. Anyone have any ideas what could be going on??? Should I try to replace the pump? It is only about 5 maybe 6 years old.

What would cause fuel pump to run constantly on a 92 ford ranger?

the pump should be running the entire time that the engine is. if the engine floods, you have one of two issues there. either the computer is commanding the injectors open for too long or one is stuck open.

Does the electric fuel pump run constantly in a tank or just long enough to pump gas to the carb?

All electric fuel pumps run continuously, as long as the engine is running.
If you have a carburetor, as your question indicates, then don't bother checking for injectors or a pressure regulator because you don't have them.

Definitely, change the fuel filter. I would add a bottle of Gumout or STP Carburetor/Fuel Injector cleaner to a full tank, to remove varnish from the fuel system. Another thing to consider is something most people never think about; there is a filter sock in the gas tank on the fuel pump intake tube. Sometimes, this will get clogged with sediment or collapse and restrict the flow of fuel. Aside from that, if you habitually run your tank near empty, the fuel pump will overheat and damage the plastic impeller.
When was the last time you did a decent tune-up?

Would oil in the gas tank ruin the fuel pump?

Never tried that one, although typically a gasoline engine isn’t very tolerant of oil because of the high knock.Gasoline in the oil (kerosene aka fuel oil aka No 1 Diesel) tank definitely does. Filled the van in a daze due to the missus getting bad news from the consultant, van died on the motorway 20 minutes later, looked at the fuel receipt, banged head on steering wheel.Brother in law towed me home and I drained and refilled the tank, but the damage was done and a few months later the old girl was leaving little rainbows behind us in the wet weather and fuel consumption had dropped from 30 mpg to 27 mpg.The diesel pump is generally fuel lubricated. Even running it on heating oil will ruin it, although adding about 1% vegetable oil to heating oil works - that’s pretty much why B5 biodiesel is so popular - it’s a cheap way to restore lubricity after removing the sulphur.

My fuel gauge is constantly on empty even after I fill up my tank. Do I need a new fuel pump?

The problem started after I took my 2003 Saturn Vue on a trip to Memphis. At first the needle fell slowly each time I turned the car on but now it is constantly on empty and my gas light stays on. A mechanic told me I need a new fuel pump/system but before I go through with it I wanted more opinions. My car has been running fine for over a month since this started and it is just now starting to run a bit shaky but nothing to concerning. I just want to know if there could be anything smaller wrong with it before I spend over $400 on a new pump. Thanks.

Currently we are running on YAMAHA R6 engine. We had a fuel pump failure. Is there any petrol pump in Indian market which matches the pressure of R6?

If you are not finding fuel pumps, then you can do an alternative arrangement.Find an air compressor of equivalent pressure rating and a pressurised container with inlet and outlet valves(similar to what is used in paintball game). Add gasoline to the container and connect the air compressor to the inlet. Connect the fuel injection system of your engine to the outlet valve.Start the compressor and you are ready to go

Is it true that the gas in your tank cools the fuel pump?

Yes, it is true just like water cools the engine. Here is a cool fact. Did you know that the “gas” used in the SR71 Blackbird, the fastest airplane ever built, was used to cool the skin of the plane when it traveled at almost 3 1/2 times the speed of sound.Introducing the SR-71 Blackbird: Still the Fastest Plane on Earth (Even in Retirement)Pretty cool.

Why is my condensate pump continuously running?

Sounds like there's a clog in the line exiting the pump, do a test and take the exit hose off and see if the pump will run normally and empty the reservoir (be ready, water will spray if the pump is working properly) if that works you know there's a problem with the exit hose and the pump is fine. If not the pump may be bad.

May not be a bad idea to clean out the pump (rinse with hot water in the sink) while cleaning the exit line/hose

hope this helps

Can I replace my intank fuel pump in my 1991 Jeep Cherokee Laredo, 6 cyclinder, 4.0L with an external pump?

Have replaced two intank pumps, but the new one continues to make noise and sounds like a worn out bearing sound causing those who sit in the back to tell me they won't drive with me again.

If I can replace the intank pump with an external one, wher do I find the correct type. Do I have to consider the PSI factor of the new external pump?

If you run your car's gas tank low constantly does that ruin the gas pump over time?

If you run your car's gas tank low constantly does that ruin the gas pump over time?Running a gas tank out of gas can damage the fuel pump.Running it low? Depends on how low. Some fuel pumps are cooled by the fuel surrounding them. Most are primarily cooled by the fuel going through them. Some, both.If the fuel pump is outside the gas tank, then it is cooled by the fuel flowing through it. If you didn’t run out of fuel, then the fuel pump will still receive its cooling flow of fuel.If the fuel pump is inside your gas tank then it will get cooling from the gas flowing through the pump and the gas surrounding the fuel pump. Most pumps get primary cooling from the fuel flowing through them. Not likely to receive damage if you didn’t run out of fuel.More damage can occur if you leave the key in the run position after the vehicle runs out of fuel. If the fuel pump continues to run for a long time with no fuel, then it will heat up and the chances of damage are greater. If you haven’t noticed any changes in how your engine runs, then I wouldn’t worry about it, but I would start to look for a gas station sooner. Why take chances when you don’t have to.
