Do emergency room personnel get angry when someone does not have an injury that is not very serious, but have to treat them anyway?

Honestly, it depends on their attitude. There are some things that to irritate me that just aren’t appropriate for the ER for any reason. People who want a work note from the ER but don’t want to be seen. People who just don’t want to see the prescribing doctor who want refills on their meds. I’ve even had a kid ask for an emergent psych eval for adderall because he had finals coming up and wasn’t used to having to study and didn’t want to learn how. Or people who think we’ve got some magic to make them feel instantly better from their cold or bronchitis after seeing other doctors who have also told them ITS A VIRUS.A lot of people don’t have great health literacy and don’t have any idea what’s really an emergency and what isn’t. Or sometimes it’s an injury that isn’t that serious but had the potential to be. I’ve seen a few patients recently where they seemed to have very minor injuries or complaints that have gone catastrophically wrong. Or people who have gone to an urgent care for something that totally should be within that scope that get referred to the ER anyway. That’s not their fault either. You also get people who got really freaked out about the mechanism that they didn’t even look at the injury before coming in, and it ends up being no big deal.In any case, it isn’t that irritating. You just have to understand that our main job is the emergencies so when you’re there for something minor and not emergent in the slightest, you’re going to have a much longer wait. Even if we can put you through fast track, there may be a dozen other people there for minor complaints as well and it can still leave you with a lengthy wait.

During surgery, why are a patient's eyes taped shut?

All previous answers were excellent and correct. This practice (taping the eyes shut) really only refers to general anesthesia cases. Local anesthesia (MAC) cases don't usually require eyes to be taped shut. The "goop" is usually a bland ophthalmic lubricant like Lacrilube, Duolube, etc.Two potential issues with taping the eyes shut (usually under a gauze patch) can come from either not taping one eye completely shut (resulting in exposure keratopathy- the corneal problem that many of the other authors referenced), or high intraocular pressure from "pressure-patching" the eye too tightly. This is actually the more potentially dangerous of the 2 , but also pretty rare in my experience.

Can an emergency dispatcher or police officer refuse to respond to a 911 call?

I know of at least one agency where officers can answer a dispatched call for service with, "Acknowledged, no response." The incident is then closed. In doing so, the officer takes full responsibility if the call turns out to be something other than the non-event he has decided it is. The management of the agency has placed considerable trust in their officers to allow them to do this. At the same time, they don't leave the decision not to assign a call to anyone to the dispatchers and call-takers. Their philosophy is that the cops have more training than the dispatchers and are more familiar with the people in the community, so they can make that "no response" decision. More commonly, the officer can respond with a phone call to the complainant. The agency does not have a 24-hour desk manned by an officer, so the cops frequently handle informational issues by cell phone from their cars. Once he or she has spoken to the complainant, the officer can log the disposition of the call as "handled by phone," or make a physical response if the circumstances warrant this. I personally laud the trust this agency places in their line officers, but this requires some very careful recruiting, selection, and training. The agency is a fairly small one (about 50 sworn) and much of their recruiting is done by invitation, when a department member comes across a likely candidate. Everyone is encouraged to keep an eye out for good recruits, experienced and otherwise.

Sea sponge tampon reviews?

They're comfortable, but in a way still a pain. For me, a cup was just as comfortable, but I'm grown, you may be a little young for total cup comfort. Sponges may be a good choice for you, but you must rinse them out. So in a public bathroom where in an emergency you can just wipe a menstrual cup clean and wash it later, you've gotta get out of the stall and wash that sponge in the sink. I never cared, but some girls might be weird about washing their blood down the sink in public.

Sponges will leak or just fall out when they're full, and you'll feel that it's not in the most comfortable spot when it does get too full. You need to replace them every few months or so, they get tougher over time. Personally I felt they were better than tampons because they were more comfortable, but need to be changed or rinsed more often. Plus you usually have to cut them to fit right, so there's lots of trimming, inserting, removing, and more trimming when you first get them. One nice thing is you can sew or tie a string to them to help pull them out. But again, when they're full they often shift down and are easy to reach and remove anyway.

Sebaceous Cyst in dogs?

Sebaceous Cysts like when on humans, if not in an awkward place a Doctor or Vet will leave well alone simply because they can come back again, plus they if a human or dog are prone to them, often appear elsewhere on the body. But in your case, this one now needs looking at by a vet really, and until them bath it and use disinfectant to help prevent infection. Is she an elderly dog? I ask because this sort of thing is more likely to occur in older animals - just like we humans older age brings these niggling problems. I think the brushing must have aggravated it and made it become larger and somewhat infected so it sounds like she will need a course of antibiotics. Poor little thing.

Sounds like you have had a bad week of it - but I must say I commend you for the loving care you give your animals, and you stick in my mind for one main reason, which was, you were one of the people that sent me such kind words when I had to have my 11 year old Westie Clover put down. The kindness I got from you all - broke my heart that night but it was the turning around of me starting to heal from the loss.

Just as an update, I now have a 15 week Westie puppy, full of life, full of fun, and no doubt just like you, I could not imagine my life without a dog around me. Bless you. And here's hoping your dog does not get any more problems.

What type of material are high quality/expensive suits made of?????

I'd love to know what type of wool or other material high class suits tend to be made of....

I am not talking about the cheap, odd or unique ones that are made of velvet, polyester, linen (worn during the summer.),........I am talking about the types of suits you would wear to a high paying office job, or out to a nice restaurant.
A friend of mine who works at Saks Fifth Avenue told me that one of the great materials is fine Merino Wool.
