What do you think of making friends over the internet?

@Joshms: My opinion? Well, I think you and all my other contacts are proof that I have *no* problem with making friends with people on the internet. Just as you have no idea if the person you're talking to on the internet is a crazy murderer, you have no idea if the person living across the street from you is a murderer as well. Does that mean you should completely avoid any confrontations with every human in the world by the chance that they might want to hurt you? I know all about "stranger danger", but I think I've made pretty certain on a lot of you guys that you are who you say you are.

And I'm not careless either, though. There *have* been people I've met online that I've been creeped out by and blocked. Onetime some guy on formspring asked for a picture of me, someone I'd never seen before, so I blocked him and deleted his question question.

I literally have no friends. How can one have fun without friends?

I suppose the first thing is to clarify whether you want to make friends or are you satisfied with your friendless state & simply want to find things to do alone? There are lots of things you can do alone. And there are lots of ways to make friends.Things to do alone: travel, go to the movies, go out for lunch/dinner, start a blog, take a class, pursue hobbies, read, think, sleep, write in a journal, go for a walk, hit the gym, run, swim, cook, etc.Ways to make friends: do some volunteer work, take a class, go to a meetup, go on an organized tour, network & actually express an interest in the people you speak with, go to happy hour with your coworkers, get a job, go to church, participate in organized classes at your gym, teach a class, join a book club (or if your library/bookstore doesn’t have one that interests you, start one!), join a club that is related to a hobby or interest…Keep in mind that you start making friends by becoming acquainted with people. You will need to do this many times before you find a few people with enough in common with you to actually develop a friendship. Obviously the desire has to be mutual.I remember my stepfather telling me that he would find people who knew more about his favorite hobbies (opera, baseball, trout fishing) & work on becoming friends with them. Everyone likes to be viewed as an expert. So maybe try that. But also remember that friendship is a mutual thing - you need to give something and receive something from the relationship for it to work. Good friendships are a two-way street.

How can a homeschooled teenager make friends?

I already see a lot of information about live interaction, mostly in the form of interaction. Obviously, interacting with others in real life is extremely important, and it is necessary to at least some extent. However, I’m just going to throw in the internet as a useful resource.Since I was 12, I’ve volunteered as an online community moderator, which has put me in touch with many people of all ages and from all over the world sharing an interest in the community we worked to protect. This has given me a pretty large friend group. On my more public Skype account, which I used in daily communication about these projects for about three years or a bit less, I reached about 600 contacts. Now I use different software to communicate, and so the number of people I’ve come into contact with at some point or another has been huge.Obviously, few of these relationships approach the depth of one you’d find in real life, but participating in internet communities (not necessarily as a moderator - Although leading communities is my personal interest, there’s a forum for just about anything), one can be put in contact with hundreds of people of similar interests. This means that it is not hard for such a system to result in just a few close friendships.

What fun stuff can I do on the internet?

1.Go to edX or Coursera and learn something new. If you spend 10 hours at some learning course, you will gain new knowledge in some area. It’s better than you will play some games for 10 hours. Learning is fun, really.2.Create your own website (even you have never done this before). You will get skills in Web-design, SEO, Copywriting and so on. When you become enough skilled, you can make money of this knowledge. Which is obviously fun. 3.Learn a new language. It could help you to speak to that beautiful girl in the foreign country, or buy a food when your friends went to the bar and left you alone in the street somewhere in Eastern Europe.
