How do I get more than 1GB of RAM on my Windows 7 laptop so that I can play other games?
Step 1: Find out what type of RAM your laptop is running. If it is only DDR2 then don’t buy DDR3 or DDR4 RAM. Your chipset won’t be able to handle it.Step 2: Check how many RAM slots are available on your mother board. This can be done buy either opening the laptop up and seeing or opening task manager. I believe windows 7 will tell you how many slot are available if you get detailed.Step 3: Check what your processor and board and handle on the software side. Some laptops won’t support 32GB or RAM even if you have the space to physically put it in. You can look up the exact model number of CPU you have and check what is the maximum memory it can handle. (While your at it this will also let you see the type of RAM it supports as well)Step 4: Buy and install.Step 5: Enjoy? I don’t know what type of laptop you have but if it only 1GB or RAM then it probably doesn’t have the best processor. Just be mindful of that whenever you’re trying to run a game. Your RAM may be the least of your problems
Does anyone know an affordable, cheap, gaming laptop?
Please do not tell me to get a desktop, those are useless to me since I'm always traveling. The thing is, I don't know nothing of computers, I only know basic things. Anyways, I'm looking for a laptop, Windows 7 (any edition from Professional and up) 64-Bit, able to run games that need hardcore requirements like Skyrim, CoD, Battlefield, and GTA at the highest graphic settings with satisfactory FPS. Fast processor speed with a good amount of RAM. If it's not much I'd also like it to be cool-looking like a Mac, or something that doesn't look like an old Dell laptop. Example, I was going to get this but It didn't satisfy me with it's specs (again, I only know basic things about computers so please correct me if I'm wrong). http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2393060,00.asp I can only get something below 1000 USD since I have the cheapest parents in the world and I don't have a job. Windows 7 or 8 for gaming?
I know this question is asked a lot but none of the answers seemed to give complete reasoning about which one to choose. I'm buying a new laptop for gaming (I already have a desktop for gaming I just want something more mobile) and I have a choice of windows 7 or windiws 8. Both are free with the purchase of the computer and are 64 bit. Also the screen on the laptop is not touch screen (I heard windows 8 was disigned for touch screen devises). So my questions are: will there be games I can get on windows 7 and not windows 8? Is windows 8 buggier than windows 7? Will there be a point when everything can run in windiws 8? And is there any big advantages windows 8 has over windows 7? If you have windows 8 on one of your gaming computers please let me know how your experiences are with it. All help is appreciated and I will chose best answer. Thank you in advance.

I'm in college and I need a new laptop, because mine is basically falling apart and I keep getting rebooted with that bluescreen thing every couple of ours I will basically be using it for assignments, essays, possibly online tests and occasionally gaming and watching youtube

I don't know what the hell are other trying to say ! I mean there is not a single answer about graphic performance here, come on guys don't you think that graphics are more important than RAM, however RAM is also an essential hardware to run games, but you can't play far cry 4 or GTA V on a computer without graphic card even if the system is holding 8 GB of RAM.And yes DirectX still make a difference as all the graphic processing is handled by it. But it is not the actual factor to run games.Version of window doesn't make that much difference if your PC has enough Graphic power, even a high end game doesn't chew up more than 4 GB of RAM. you can use window 8 as it has the latest version of DirectX, buy a good Graphic card, any from Nvidia Titan or Geforce, or go for AMD radeon R9. And you don't need to worry about Operating system, Both are best on there own.Forget what others say, without a good graphic card, nothing gonna work.
Windows 7 Asus laptop keyboard locked?
Look on your keyboard. On most laptops there is a function key that will lock the keyboard. You would need to pres the [Fn] key and the appropriate [F#] key. In mine the combination would be [Fn+F1] keys. If she shuts down to re-activate the keyboard she looses whatever she is working on. Or...do a hard reset: turn off computer, remove ac adapter and battery, hold down power button for 20 seconds, put battery and ac adapter back on, then turn on computer.
Problem installing Borderlands on new Windows 7 Laptop?
it wouldn't install at all using the auto install from the disk, so I tried the cmd.exe thing, then got the SecuROM error message, so downloaded THAT to get the manual activation code, NOW after I tried installing through the cmd.exe again it says it is missing the d3dx9 41 .dll ... what now :( so far I am not liking windows 7 for borderlands at ALL.. it installed just fine on my older windows vista laptop. HELP!
