My garage is too big. If I want to make it smaller (2 car to 1) do I have to knock it all down first?
I have a detached two car car garage (cinderblock) that takes up a majority of the space behind my house, leaving just a small area for a yard. I would love to convert it into a 1 car garage so that there would be more outdoor space (my lot is small... only 40X90). Is it possible to knock down one side of it and build a new wall further over making the structure smaller, or would the whole structure need to be demolished and rebuilt?
Is there a way to jumpstart a car parked in a small garage?
I know this is dumb but I don't know anything about cars...how am I going to put it in neutral if the car won't turn on at all? It's not just that the enginge won't turn over, literally nothing on the car works. My keyless entry wouldn't even unlock the door, I had to do it manually. Could my friend take the battery out of her car and use it it charge mine? I'm not sure how that works...I don't want to just go buy a new battery. This car is less than a year old so I don't even know how the battery died. The headlights weren't on yesterday at all so they couldn't have been left on, and my car would automatically turn them off anyway. The only thing I could think was that the light inside the car was turned on, but unless I accidently hit it when I got out of the car, I know I didn't use it yesterday. I've also accidently left that light on all night before (several months ago) and nothing happened. The car has not been sitting for a long time either- I drive it pretty much e
Do you die from car gas if you start the car in the garage with garage door shut ?
You may not want to open the door because it's cold, but if there is incomplete combustion in a closed area you will have enough CO produced to make you sick or kill you. The engine of a car has very incomplete combustion of the gas and CO is produced in unhealthy quantity and the effect ic umulative, you don't get rid of the CO in your bloodstream for a while. Listen to your mom "Carbon monoxide is produced by furnaces, water heaters, cooking ranges and idling cars. It is a colorless and odorless gas that cannot be detected by smell, taste or sight. The gas is not only deadly, but deceptive as well, because carbon monoxide poisoning often masquerades as other illnesses"
Suicide by sitting in running car in garage...?
I have a close friend who is severly depressed & I fear she might try to commit suicide. She always talked about the "painless" (any way will cause pain to those left behind) way of going by sitting in a running car in her garage. She has been to counselors & put in a psychiatric hospital before but I don't think it helped. My question is this... how long would it take for a person to die by doing this? I usually go over her house to check on her before work & after work & later in the evening but I fear it is not often enough. I'm scared one day when I show up she will be dead. Does this kind of death happen in minutes or hours or what? I'm trying to be a good friend by going over there as much as possible to keep her from doing anything but I'm scared that if this death can occur in minutes or within two or three hours she could do it while I was at work or at night. She has a small-ish one car garage & a Ford Explorer. Any estimates on how long it would take if she were to do this?
Can a car battery die when just sitting in the garage.?
My car has been sitting in the garage for about a month, not been driven. It has a new battery in it, but I went to drive it today and then it wouldn't start. Can just sitting in the garage kill my battery?
Is it bad to back your car into your garage everyday?
I've been parking by backing my car into my garage lately just for fun but I've been told that since you are backing your car into the garage, the exhaust gases are confined to your garage and when you open the door from the garage to your house, those gases go into your home. It makes sense... but is it true?
I heard an ad saying that you should buy a smaller car so that it will allow more parking for others. Is this a good reason to buy a small(er) car?
Not for others, but it makes parking so much easier for me to have a small car.I drive a Fiat 500, which really is a small car, probably even a tiny car, though it fits 4 adults, at least for shorter drives, somewhat comfortably.Over the last 10 to 15 years more and more people drive huge SUVs, at least huge by European standards. Around where I live there are a lot of Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5 and Audi Q5 on the streets. But parking spaces have more or less stayed the same, at least in the large garages and around cities. Those spaces were designed for somewhat smaller cars, which can lead to some problems if a few of those huge vehicles are parked next to each other. In a way I'm accommodating them with my tiny car which allows them to get out of the big ones because I take up less space in the spot and they can use that additional space for their own use.But mostly it's just keeping my sanity to drive my little one. We had a larger station wagon, still not huge, but quite a bit larger than my car. I cursed each time when I had to drive into the underground garage at our supermarket. It's much more convenient to drive a city car around here.
How do i get that yellow paint on the poles in parking garages off my car?
Ranked from gentlest to coarsest: Clay Bar Cleaner Wax Polishing Compound Rubbing Compound 2000 grit sandpaper The clay bar, cleaner wax, and polishing compound will not affect the shine of the cars paint. If you use the rubbing compound it will leave very small scratches (just looks like a dull spot) and the sandpaper will do the same thing but more severe. If you use any of those two methods then go back over it with the polishing compound to polish out the dull areas. Make sure you have a nice soft cloth like a cloth diaper. If the yellow paint is gooey/gummy you might have to scrape it off with a new razor blade. Be very careful...it'll do a lot of damage to the car paint if you aren't.
