Gas Clothes Dryer Flame Not Staying On

How long should the flame on a gas dryer stay on?

the flame does not stay on all the time but,as the dryer heats to the rite temp the flame will go out [about 180degrees]first thing to check is the exhast vent make sure its not plugged [in back] if that is OK then its possible that one of the two gas solenoids are not holding .they are in front at the bottom they are two round black things with wires going to them [unplug first!!!]u can buy the solenoids at an appliance part store .u just unscrew the little Phillips screws and pull off the coils replace and back step ..........good luck.its easy

Whirlpool gas clothes dryer question?

I am not sure that the diagram will help much, since everything plugs into a microprocessor board on newer dryers. They usually have error codes if you know how to retrieve them. I don't know on that model. I would look at the igniter and check the voltage going to it and it's resistance when it is out of the circuit.
Here is the best place to find appliance repair information on the Web, you can request a diagram there:

Use the forum, not the "Parts and Diagrams" search box.

I believe the timer motor gets it's power from the control board directly, and if it is not advancing, the board has stopped it, for what ever reason.

Maytag clothes dryer flame won't stay lit?

Many gas-fed heating appliances such as ovens and water heaters make use of a pilot flame to ignite the main gas burner when required. If it goes out gas may be be released, which is a fire risk and a health hazard. To prevent this some appliances use a thermocouple in a fail-safe circuit to sense when the pilot light is burning. The tip of the thermocouple is placed in the pilot flame, generating a voltage which operates the supply valve which feeds gas to the pilot. So long as the pilot flame remains lit, the thermocouple remains hot and the pilot gas valve is held open. If the pilot light goes out the thermocouple temperature falls, causing the voltage across the thermocouple to drop and the valve to close. This was copied and pasted from my source.

How do you fix a dryer that is not drying clothes?

Assuming you are talking about a clothes dryer, it needs not only heat but also it needs to circulate that heated air.  In general, the dryer will draw in air from its surroundings, pass it through the drum containing the clothing, through a lint trap (to catch the lint that comes off the clothes, of course) and then through an exhaust duct in the back, which should connect to an exhaust pipe somewhere along the line.  That way, the heated air draws moisture out of the clothes and is exhausted somewhere as to not recirculate into the machine. If the clothes are getting hot but not drying, you might want to check that the air flow is not being impeded.  Make sure the lint trap is not clogged with lint.  Make sure the exhaust hose is not being crimped or obstructed.  You might also need to check the exhaust pipe that it connects to, or have a professional look at it/clean it out if you are unable to check it on your own.  If the air can't flow, then all that will happen is the clothes will heat up and basically be stuck in a hot, humid environment which is not conducive to drying.

Maytag neptune dryer not drying,?

if it is not heating up then i suspect the fuse is blown and its a easy fix for the repair guy .i do not recommend you try to fix it yourself some of the fuses need to be soldered in at least on mine the tech did

Why is my Maytag Neptune dryer not drying? How do I fix this?

Your dryer requires unrestricted flow from the lint trap to the point where your vent exits your exterior wall. If the air is not able to move within the dryer, then the high limit switch which is very close to the heat source will cut out the heat in a short period of time. Clean the filter of lint and residue from dryer sheets and check to see if the dryer vent hose is kinked or clogged. Use a long handled bristle brush to clean the dryer vent. The closer the hose is from the dryer to the exterior wall, the faster and more efficiently it will dry the clothes and will prevent clogs. Check the vent on the outside of your home for lint buildup and clean. The thermistor monitors and regulates the internal air temperature inside your dryer. It is wired to the control board that determines the temperature of the air circulating inside the dryer.Check out more about Dryer not drying from Point & Click Appliance Repair! Good luck!

How long should it take for a gas dryer to ignite?

I have a whirlpool gas dryer that was not heating (no flame). I replaced the flame sensor, coils, and ignitor. The flame now comes on at different intervals. I never checked how long it took prior to the issue, but now it is ranging from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. Is this normal?

Can low gas pressure cause a dryer to not dry clothes completely?

There could be quite a few reasons your dryer isn’t completely drying your clothes. As you already mentioned, excessive lint buildup can clog or restrict the air flow to your unit but another common problem that could be happening is the washing machine not filtering out all the water it should be during the wash cycle. (Note: this doesn’t mean that the clothes have to completely wet - even a little moisture can effect this)Specifically for Gas Dryers, it could be the gas valve coil. If the gas dryer will light once but will not relight until it cools down, it is likely the gas valve coils are faulty. These coils lose some strength when subjected to heat. When they become old, the addition of heat may be enough to prevent them from opening the gas valve when hot. However, the coils still work when cool. An easy way to diagnose the coils when the burner is not lighting is to watch the igniter. If the the igniter glows for 10 to 15 seconds but no flame is created, then the coils are faulty. If the igniter is not glowing the problem is elsewhere.
