Heres a profile of my face

Im 18 years old but look younger for my age and want to know if i should get a chin implant, sliding genioplasty or do i have to do something further with my jaw?

I know the procedure costs a few thousand (chin impants/sliding genioplasty) but was also wondering if its for cosmetic reasons but would my situation be deemed not cosmetic, bcause:

When i was like 10 i jumped down from my counter and smashed my chin/jaw on the counter. All i got was glue to fix it. Could this be why my chin is so recessive? And could i be deemed not cosmetic for sliding genioplasty or chin implants?

Also, in general, would i need sliding genioplasty/chin impants or does it seem like i might need to do something with my jaw (that would be cosmetic because i just got my braces off and my teeth are straight)?

I want my face to appear longer as well so id want my chin 2 b pushed forward and pushed downwards

Heres a picture of what i want my profile to look like (im thinking of getting rhinoplasty aswell)

Sliding Genioplasty? Chin Implant?

you may need corrective jaw surgery since your having problems with your mouth staying open.
you need to contact an oral or/and maxillofacial surgeon FIRST. At the time of your visit they can examine your jaw and mouth and see if you need jaw surgery.

If not, a chin implant will help with a receding chin, along with jaw/chin lipo to bring out your jawline.

About 2 1/2 months ago I had chin/jaw liposuction and a medium sized chin implant placed. I love the results but I am now considering the sliding genioplasty because the chin implant didn't do much for vertical height of my chin. So if you just want a very little vertical height and lots of horizontal projection then a chin implant will be your new best friend. I had the surgery with a plastic surgeons that specialized in maxillofacial implants.

my surgery in total was $5500. I got a $500 discount from the surgeon for paying in cash.
best of luck

What is your experience of chin implant surgery and genioplasty?

Prominent Chin is always desire for any individual. . .Indication of both the procedures are very much different. With chin Implants one can increase mandible length in anterior-posterior direction . . . Its minor surgical procedure. Best part about chin implants is it is permanent and reversible. . . unlike genioplasty. It gives muscular looks to face.above picture one can see prominence of chin which is achived with the help of chin implant . . .genioplasty is best when you are looking for enhancing chin in anterior - posterior as well as vertical direction as well. Chin is cut in to sliding fashion which is called as sliding genioplasty. it is best to be done when you want to give oval shaped face to an individualin above pictures one can see improve in volume in both the directions. . . antero- posterior as well as vertical. . .one can also do the chin enhancement with only dermal filler if at all one is scared of surgery. in above picture young girl chin enhancement done with only dermal filler. Is chin implant better than genioplasty? What is the cost in India?

Hi ,Thanks for your question. Both procedures are done to modify the chin area.Chin Implants - They are mostly used to add projection and minimal vertical height. Mostly done for cosmetic reasons. Being three dimensional, they also add some width and heigh, but mostly projection. The implants are placed via a submental incision. Not generally feasible when the deficiency is more than 10mm.Genioplasty - The surgical option of cutting the chin bone and placing the same. It can be used in cases of vertical and horizontal deficiencies. In certain cases, this is the only option. They are safe and can be performed by an experienced Cosmetic Surgeon or Oral Maxillofacial surgeon in India. Considering the multitude of problems that genioplasty can solve, I would suggest the same over Chin implants for major deficiencies. My recommendation would be to visit your doctor, ask him/her to do a detailed facial analysis (doesn't take too much time) and then ask for their suggestion as the best treatment lines varies from case to case.Cost for the procedure varies on the speciality of the doctor, the number of years of experience, the city and premise that he/she operates out of.Hope this helped.Cheers !!!

What is a genioplasty?

In addition to chin augmentation with implants, some individuals may be suitable candidates for genioplasty. This is a procedure that reshapes the chin by surgically repositioning the chin bone. This procedure is more complex than implants alone and is sometimes considered a reconstructive surgery. Visit Cosmetic Surgery Associates of Texas for more info.

What is the cost of chin genioplasty and masculine jawline enhancement surgery in India?

Corrective jaw surgery, or orthognathic surgery, typically corrects jawbone irregularities. The goal is to realign these bones to affect the way they work. However, the result also may include an improved facial appearance.Jaw surgery is a good corrective option when irregularities are too pronounced to be adjusted by braces alone. Depending on your situation, you might wear braces during and/or after surgical treatment. The orthodontist will work with a surgeon to coordinate a treatment plan.According to Tricity Institute Of Plastic Surgery, the price for corrective jaw surgery can start anywhere around INR50,000. and go as high as INR.1,50,000 or more. Much of the cost will depend of the severity of the jaw misalignment and how intensive the required surgery will be.

How much does a chin implant and rhinoplasty cost?

I am in Tennessee, but any information will help. And please no silly answers about "it will cost a lot of pain, time, and money." People are different and this is what I want to do. Thanks!

Will medicaid cover genioplasty(chin)?

Genioplasty is chin advancement when your natural chin is recessed and not normally a strong chin. Some people get chin implants but I prefer moving my own chin forward for a better profile and more normal looking.

Sliding genioplasty procedure?

Im an 18 year old guy and have a really small chin that is very recessed. I was talking to my orthodontist the other day and he said and referrd me to a place to get augmentation genioplasty. I had done alot of research into genioplasty before this so i was quite happy when he said this. But im confused a bit.

He was telling me how i had to go to this place anyways, to get my wisdom teeth pulled out (i dont no why; i have had my braces off for a year and a half and ive just been seeing him for regular retainer checks), but he said i have to "go under" to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and i can get genioplasty at the same time.

First, i dont get why i have to get my wisdom teeth pulled, and second, does that mean im not paying for the genioplasty? Or how does the payment go? I know alot of the money that you pay, when it comes to cosmetic type surgeries, is becauae of the doctors room and what not, but i need to get my wisdom teeth pulled and that part of my orthodontic treatment, so im imagining the cost be less if genioplasty is being added...

Can someone help clarify this a bit more for me.

Also, i am getting rhinoplasty. But id probably wait till after the genioplasty for that, but would i be able to get rhinoplasty while i still have bandages and what not from the genioplasty??

Also how long do i have to wait after consultations, before surgery??

Im going to school in september 2013 and want to have both the genioplasty and rhinoplasty done by then, so i can start college off as a new me, and not have to go like i look now, get the procedures, then have to explain to all the new people i met what happened.

Should I get a sliding genioplasty / jaw surgery?

You haven’t explained why you want surgery - whether it is for functional or cosmetic purposes. If the latter, you might want to consider a course of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy before deciding. If you do decide to find out more about your options, you should get a couple of clinical opinions on this to help you decide. You could see a maxillofacial surgeon. However, you could also see a functional orthodontist who offers Orthotropics, to see whether you have poor oral posture and craniofacial dystrophy.
