What were your observations of the Germany vs Argentina international friendly at Arena Esprit, Dusseldorf?

I didn't watch the match. I don't even think it was telecast on any channels here. But, I just finished reading the news report, and here are my observations.First, of all it was a friendly, and both teams rested a majority of their star players. And, as is the norm for friendlies these days, surely, both sides made a slew of substitutions midway through the game. The top division clubs from all countries demand that they would like to get their players back in the same condition as they had left. The friendly was more important for Germany than for Argentina as they will be playing their Euro 2016 qualifiers next (on Sunday vs Scotland).We learned that Argentina can play better without Lionel Messi! His absence takes the pressure off from all the players to pass the ball to him. They can now play more as a team. Angel Di Maria is really at the peak of his career right now and was a great acquisition by Manchester United, even if most people think they (we) overpaid for him. I think it is worth splurging the extra money sometimes if it means you can get one of the top talents to play for you. Gone are the days when football made more sense, at least financially.This could also be the return of Erik Lamela who was thrown into the wilderness after having an unsuccessful and injury ravaged season at Spurs. Now, under the stewardship of another Argentine, Pochettino, he should show what a real talent he actually is, and why Spurs had paid top money to sign him in the first place. This is good for Argentina as well, but I am not sure when is the next major tournament that they will participate in. He scored a well taken goal against Germany.Germany on the other hand were playing without many of their top players. There was no newly announced captain Schweinsteiger, no Ozil, and no Hummels or Boateng even. Lahm has of course retired from the National team. The Germany team that was fielded was highly weakened, but they had quality nonetheless in Goetze, Reus, Draxler, Schuerrle and Kroos. It is quite likely that they are suffering the post-World Cup blues, as is the human tendency. It should be noted that all the goals were scored by Premier League players, including the own goal!Germany have now played Argentina five times under Joachim Loew so far and they have lost all their three friendlies but won both their World Cup clashes.

Yeah, Germany not winning must be scriptedOr could it be that they just didn’t play any good? Or that Mexico simply played better?Same goes for Iceland and Argentina. Could it be and bear with me, because for some it seems an alien concept, that Iceland simply wanted it more? That they fought more? Or that they simply are not as bad as some people seem to think?Before someone asks, Brazil vs Switzerland was also not scripted. Just like the subpar performance of France (which at least managed a win, albeit a close one).
