Getting Braces Put On

Having Braces Put on??

Well I don't remember the whole process but all I can tell you is it doesn't hurt, it's just a little uncomfortable because they have a ton of stuff in your mouth. When they are done, you will have a bad taste in your mouth from the glue stuff they use to glue the bracets to your teeth. At first they feel really weird in your mouth because your obviously not used to them, but it also feels kind of cool! They may hurt a little after you get them on since your teeth will be shifting, but mine didn't hurt that bad at all right after I got them on. If they do begin to hurt take some tylenol. Are you getting them on only bottom, only top, or both? I had both put on at the same time and it takes awhile for them to do it. They tell you all this stuff you can't eat, but you actually can. They tell you that you can't chew gum. You really can, they just say you can't because if you chew gum that isn't sugarfree then it will get stuck to your braces. Also they tell you not to eat foods that are chewy and hard. You can eat them, I do all the time but you just have to make them you chew them carefully so they don't ruin your braces. If you need to know anything else, go to my profile and you can e-mail me. I hope I helped you!! And good luck today.

Is it painful getting braces put on? What are the steps?

You won't feel any discomfort during the procedure, but your teeth and gums will probably be a little sore afterward. The process includes:-Clean and dry your teeth-Apply a special glue so that it can hold the brackets on-And at last the dentist will put the arch wires on the bracket and secure everything with the elastic bands. If you'll prefer to get treatment from a highly qualified orthodontist then it'll be easier for you to get the braces put on.I know, one of my nearer has gone through this treatment. He said just don't be afraid and always get treatment from a well-qualified dentist. I think he has got treatment from MiamiOrthodontists.

Do they inject you with a shot while putting on braces?

No. Mounting braces is not painful, as they simply glue small blocks to your teeth and then run wires through them. What is painful is when they tighten those wires up to force your teeth to start moving. That can be plenty painful but too long-lasting for anesthetics to be useful. Instead, they simply recommend taking over-the-counter analgesics. The pain does go away after a while, then they tighten them again.

I am getting braces put on my teeth later this morning. What can I expect from getting them? How do they install them?

How they install themIn simplest form: Each tooth gets a piece of metal "glued" to them, a wire is fed through or connected to each metal point. The wire is anchored to the last metal points on each side of your mouth. The wire works like a stretched rubber band, pulling your teeth together.  a more detailed version follow link below:Dental braces What to expectInitially your tongue will not be able to resist feeling your new equipment (your tongue will be slightly cut because of this)The inside of your mouth where the braces will rub against (ie above and below your lips on the inside) will only be sore the first few days/weeks, this will go away as the inside of your mouth gets tougher. (there is a wax that can help)You will experience the most pain with the 1st wire installation (ie the days following the initial braces installation. The wire will be replaced a few times during the time you have braces, with each new wire installation you will experience pain the days following. You need to replace the wire because the 'rubber band' effect decreases over time as your teeth move closer together (each wire has only a limited moving capability). Each new wire installation pulls the teeth closer and closer to the final state/position.Fun fact, you do get used to the pain the braces cause and yes, food will get stuck in your braces when you eat. Some personal advice:Refrain from using colourful o-rings, clear or black is the way of the future (the less attention to your braces, the better in my personal opinion but nothing is stopping you from a colourful choice) You can also install braces on the inside surface of your teeth as opposed to the outside surface as normally done but this adds more challenges. (speak to you dentist/orthodontist about this)Hope this summary was ok.RegardsWarren

Can I have laughing gas while getting braces?

Getting braces really isn't painful... at all! The only uncomfortable part is the thing they put on your lips to keep your mouth open... but it's really not that bad. Trust me; I'm a person who hates ALL pain, but braces really aren't bad. The part that does hurt some, is when your teeth are adjusting. I suggest you chew sugar free gum, It will hurt to chew at first, but after awhile chewing the sugar free gum will help the pain from your moving teeth. And take morton or ibuprofen.
Hope it helps!

Will being sick effect me getting my braces?

okay the pain i can take, i mean i think i will get at least a bit better by then and hopefully he will put my braces on, i hate waiting and for the pain, ill take a painkiller which will be alright thanks to everyone who answered :)

Is 15 too old to get braces put on?

Would you rather have braces or crooked teeth? I'd honestly much rather see braces than jacked up teeth.
