Getting Green Card By Living In Usa

Can I get the green card after living for 5 years ?

Sgt. Star a soldier and not an immigration officer, obviously enough and a bit confused over how to get a green card. You can't get a green card simply by living in the US for any period of time. you can become a citizen after living in the US with a green card for 5 years. and you can't get a green card by simply working legally in the US. there are lots of non-immigrant work visas and some immigrant work visas. the non-immigrant work visas do not lead directly to green card status. check out http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/... on the various ways to qualify for an immigrant visa and a green card. that should help.

Do green card holder have better chance of getting Schengen Visa?

Yes they do. Having a permanent resident card to the USA means that you can travel freely in and out of the US and that you will more than likely go back there after your trip. That is their concern. If you are a legal US resident the Schengen territories typically view you as a low-risk for remaining illegally after your visit because they know that hardly anyone who has the legal right to live and work in the US is likely to abandon their US residency for any reason. But when you apply for the visa you still have to show them evidence that you have the financial means to cover the cost of your trip or documents from family and friends there stating that they are sponsoring you. You need something to show that you intend to return to the US after your trip..i.e. a letter from your employer or school, bank statements, etc.

How do I get green card for permament living in US?

I don't have family members there and I don't want to attend diversity visa lottery. Help me. I want desperately to live in US, specifically Alaska ( probably Anchorage ).

My aunt live in the US, can i get a green card as we are family?

no. An aunt can't sponsor you for a greencard. She could sponsor her siblings - but then it will take about 10 years until they get one.

The only way your aunt can help you regarding immigration is to invite you to stay in her home for a while if you get a work visa in the same town on your own merits.

Even if she were to adopt you you won't get a greencard through her as I assume you are already too old for that. The adoption would have to be completed when you are 16 and your aunt would need to have had care of you for a couple of years before.
